:) Oh, re keeping socks and tights upright once folded or rolled, it's recommended that they be contained in something within the drawer, such as lidless boxes. MK is a great fan of shoeboxes. The lass was still a schoolgirl when I discovered the wondrous versatility of shoebox storage.

I've got the socks and knicks disciplined inside the drawer with boxes and this keeps things orderly. Also, this has allowed me to differntiate between the thicker socks I wear with trainers and boots and the thinner ones I wear with my work shoes.

You've just reminded me to stop off at the shoe shop later when I pop out.
I'm going to ask for spare shoe boxes
Preferably childrens I've Kondoed My socks, opaque tights bras knickers ect
All my undies And socks Are fitted nicely into my bedside table bottom drawer. A big shoe box would be too big to separate the categories

Edit I won't tempted to be buying shoes either
    I DONT need any

    Morning all!

Have woken up in a full arthritis flare. I'm typing this with the only two fingers that work. I need to work through this though otherwise I will just slump in front of the tele all day.

There is a box of random tools in the garage which is calling me to kondo it. Before 'the arthur' struck I was a dab hand at DIY and decorating. I used to go round to our elderly neighbours and sort out any little jobs they had, so I accumulated a lot of tools. I have my eye on the box they are stored in too. So, another cuppa, shower then I need to go to it.

OH rebelled against me getting rid of a couple of lamps to the chazzer. We compromised; I stored them away and she promised that if we don't use them for a year they can go. She has been stunned at my clearing the house and I think she is a bit worried that I will get rid of everything. I have purposely kept away from her things as she likes to arrange them herself. Also I know from experience that she won't get rid of all the clothes in her wardrobe that don't fit her and still have labels on after over 7 years. I think this is all a throw back to her childhood, which was poor and pretty awful, so I don't push it.

    I need tea...have a great day everyone

Well this is very nice - a Sunday morning lie in with 3 cats, a cuppa and my kondoing friends for company :D

I must get up soon though, I have a date with my kitchen today, making flapjacks and kondoing :rotfl:

Cydney I hope the Arthur unflares soon, it must be most frustrating when you want to crack on.

    Good morning Konverts

Just to,let you know that DS2 was delighted with my Guerilla Kondoing in his room....... I have to say the insides of his wardrobes are wondrous to behold. A source of joy:rotfl:

This week I shall mainly be Kondoing our new office. The desk and cupboards are all now built and in situ ready for action. I can now finally start unpacking those boxes and get everything put away..

    Happy days.

Before arising from my pit of doom this morning, I was thinking about the compost caddies. Council issue, generic lidded things with handles, you've probably seen them. These are the small ones which you are supposed to keep indoors, to decant into the larger outdoor caddy. Or into the communal food waste bin in my case.

I have two of them, one which has never been used. I haven't been pilfering them from neighbours, it's due to a complex history of how the waste collection has been organised in the block of flats where I live. Two different schemes over the years caused the issue of two identical indoor caddies.

Neither of which I use, although I do separate out my food waste (for the allotment). The reason is that I'm a solo household and it takes ages to fill the indoor caddy and, in summer, even a day or so will see it attracting fruit flies. So I keep any food waste in a tupperware in the fridge until I go to the allotment. So have one of them unused in the bike shed (where it drew attention to itself yesterday by falling on my head) and another unused in the allotment shed.

On balance of probabilites, I don't think I will use these and have decided to request that the council come and take them away from me...
GQ, do you have a greenhouse? Could you rehome them as irrigation containers for a watering system? That's what I have done with 2 of the larger ones ;)

:( No greenhouse, alas, but it's a great idea and hopefully someone else here will benefit from it.

Thanks for that suggestion! I have these 2 bins too, but have never had to use them.

I think I shall use the larger one for for my most-used hand tools, and the smaller one may serve for potting dibbers, plant labels, ties, waterproof pens etc. (Gardening komono!) :j

Shamefully :p I have to admit that I still have my socks rolled into little balls until I find a box to put them into and then I will fold them. I might look for something to use today. It still looks much more neat than it did. I'm moving my swimming costumes out of my underwear/sock drawer and into the wardrobe into a clear box as I haven't used them in years but they are great quality and I don't want to buy duplicates later on.

I kondoed my office/desk area over the past couple of days and it looks so much more clear and uncluttered.

The desk only has a keyboard, computer, desk lamp, the phone, my mobile and a coaster for my teacup. Everything else like calculator, notebook, pens that I use daily are all in a small COD under the desk. I will wipe the desk down with a cloth daily to keep it looking clean instead of how I used to let dust build up around the clutter.:o

I was thinking about donating a blue dress to a CS so I thought I would wear it again to see how I looked. I tried it with a newer blue cardigan instead of my usual black one and it looks much better so I will be keeping it instead.

OK I have to ask...what is komono?:)
    GreyQueen wrote: »
:) It's Japanese for Misc, essentially. According to the book, the dictionary definition of komono is small articles; miscellaniues items, accessories, gadgets or small tools, parts or attachments, an insignificant person, small fry.

My trouble is every time I see it, I misread it as kimono for a second.

I thought she meant kimono as well at first.:D
I think I have finally finished clothes, shoes, handbags etc. and I am totally horrified by the [STRIKE]pile[/STRIKE] mountain of bags ready to go to the charity shop.
