Just finished Kondoing the bureau which looks loverly, even some space left to use for temporary filing, instead of the coffee table. Who on earth needs twenty seven note books? Admittedly most of them probably came in packs of five from Poundland....why buy one for a £1 when you can have five!
Great to see so many people freeing up their living space and getting so much satisfaction in doing so.

115k can I suggest that you check your swimwear to see if it has perished in places.
Hadn't worn mine for quite a time and found that it had."When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us" Alexander Graham Bell0 -

Shoes were surprisingly easy to do. Six pairs out, left with... loads still
but tidily arrayed in their place. Oh and I have two nice, empty shoe boxes which I will line on the outside with pretty paper I have somewhere, and use as storage for future Kondoed categories. But all in good time.
I shall give it a rest today, perhaps sort the handbags as I only have 6 that I selected to keep. Tomorrow I'm working all day so, unless more work comes in, I'll have Tuesday and part of Wednesday to do the books. I'm not supposed to but I've already had a good look at the shelves and found a few I definitely don't want to keep.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Right my wardrobe is done , I have a bag for the chazzer , a bag for shredding and then off to the paper recycling
I've sorted all my stock of birthday presents out and should be good for most family birthdays for 2015 :j
I only have 3 handbags all black , 2 evening ones and a day one
I've thrown a shoe tidy that hung on one side of the wardrobe and now I have much more space . Ive cleared the space between the wardrobe and the ceiling so it's all clear , it looks a lot better .
DH is ebay ing as much as possible too
Cydney hope your flare up is settling now x0 -
Well I popped out for some extra groceries had a list so didn't just pop stuff in the trolley 'just in case'
Got to the checkout and proudly produced my samosaed placky bag
I usually have my hip and happening flowery shopping trolley.
However I knew I didn't want much.
I'm going to put my heavier bag for life in the pocket of the trolley bag
I sometimes don't want my squashables in the trolley so that's its home now.
I did buy 4 expanding document holders in Wilkos think £1.75 each
They are only an inch wide so won't get a lot in. They have indexed compartments I really like them.
One black one each for 2 sons personal stuff
One pink one for my personal stuff
One clear one for current year household papers
The rest of the papers I feel uneasy chucking away can go in the archival bigger document holder boxes
I hope it will stop me stuffing everything in them
I've just fitted all 4 into a large empty cereal box
So I'm going to cut that up and cover with nice paper or fabric
There's a great tut I posted earlier on the thread that tells you how to to that.
The paper mountain is getting smaller
There's just 4 little hills now
Paper clutter is my green kryptonite
It saps my energy and I end up just hiding it away
It's reassuring that it all is greatly reduced now
and everything in easy reach
Affairs will all be in order
All will be well
Edit only got 2 files into the large cereal box so got
my eye on the one in the kitchen for the other 2”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Shoes and scarves done but I am struggling with how to arrange shoes and boots back in the wardrobe nicely they still fill the bottom of it and can't fit my handbags in now
I use the clear shoe boxes but I totally get what MK means about stacking boxes being a problem, my scarves are on one of those special scarf coat hanger thingies, but I don't like it as it's too bulky

I have kondoed one basket of paperwork:j I was really ruthless (for me!) and got rid of every school/club letter - I did it without thinking otherwise I would probably have kept them...
I have a question about bank/credit card statements. How long do you keep them for in your archives? I plan to keep 2015 in a current file but not sure how far back I should keep the archive.
With insurances do I need to keep any old paperwork - ones that have expired?saving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200

I watched one of the videos further up the thread and the lady had repurposed an old towel rail and had knotted all of her scarves neatly on to it - it looked lovely!0 -
Bunbun
I keep financial papers a long time around about 10 years. It's not needed as financial organisations only hold records for 6years
I used proof of non payment in a legal matter recently
It's a personal choice you don't have to follow the book to the letter
IM busy filling a file with current year household papers
So older documents will be archived into years
I do have to be careful though I'm a terror in that I hate throwing 'evidence' that I'll probebly never need away.
I'm not as bad as my friend who just chucks everything into carrier bags
Unopened letters mixed with passports ect
The scramble to find stuff is manic
The bags are then dumped on the living room floor
The whole family has to get roped in to find the 'thing' needed
It's like some bizzare treasure hunt. Lol”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

and pull yourself together”
