I can honeslty say buying that book was the best decision I have made in a long time!

I have been changing the way I view things too - why put up with something if you can afford to change it to what you want? !

I totally agree. My treat will be a new knitting bag. It will bring me joy, keep my knitting needles in one place and is replacing one that really has seen better days. A necessary spend. We are avoiding unnecessary/not thought through spending and have managed to add to our savings this month. This thread is helping, I'm starting to see what I have, and the areas that I really do not need to spend money on.

Many thanks to the OP and all the contributors, you are all stars:T

  • Well, not sure of this is a good idea but I decided to get rid of the shoe cabinet in the hall. It's full of muddy shoes that are hardly ever worn, and partially blocks the kitchen door. I've cleared out the cupboard under the stairs and put two pairs each into a plastic box (there are 5 of us). The other surviving ones have been cleaned and put in wardrobes.

Whilst doing this I tried to pass my dd a screwdriver to tighten up door on cupboard, tripped over my mini sausage dog, who walked forward, tripped me again and I fell on top of him. Tried to curve my body so I didn't squash him or stab him with the screwdriver. Dog is unscathed but I twisted my wrist and have bruised knees.

We did manage to laugh about it though.

Hoping the new shoe storage is a success.
I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:

Hmmmm - have done a lot today but looking round I feel its going to get worse before it gets better..........what does Ms Marie say? I am not buying the book and I guess I am not really following her ideas to the letter. I seem to have got a nice tidy filing cabinet but there are some things that are still floating that I cant decide what to do with..........glass of wine and the TV now for a couple of hours and maybe a quick kondo before bed:)

  • Have managed more than I expected today. Tackling everything in the wrong order but I'll get there eventually. Did the craft cupboard and despite not throwing much out I seem to have much more space. It's not yet perfect however I have a bag of things to pass on to a friend and a box of stuff to try to ebay. Might only make pennies or not sell but I need to give it a go as not in a position to waste money!!!

Debating CDs and whether I need them when they're all on laptop and iTunes ?!?!

No kondoing today as was out and about all day but I just wanted to say that it was a pleasure to put the laundry away tonight (and a few extra bits made it into the charity bag too!)

I enjoy putting the laundry away too these days, and I look admiringly into the undie drawers as I'm closing them :rotfl:

My daughter has been wanting to tidy her room up for ages but found the whole thing daunting, so I suggested she tackle the floordrobe first, then look through the clothes in her wardrobe and get rid of clothes she doesn't wear or like. DH and I went out for an hour or so and when we came back she had three carrier bags full of clothes for the charity shop, and her floordrobe has magically disappeared :rotfl: Next week she's going to tackle two cardboard boxes full of 'stuff' which were hidden beneath the floordrobe.

Ha Ha! Nice one Igamogam! Me too...It is funny how it magically works its way into your awareness of evey aspect of your life, isn't it? Really concentrating on the things that SPARK JOY and ditching the negative! I have only MK'd my clothes and a few books so far but as I am going about my daily tasks I am also eyeing up things to be kondoed in the near future when I have the time/energy. Hoping to get quite a bit done this week as I have time off work and am trying to put myself first... I usually am running about after other people at work or my elderly parents, my grown up children and my neighbours...so I am trying to get some time this week to attack my own stuff and space.
Thank you everyone on this thread for your ideas and support - It has really helped to read all your comments.

It's down to 4 paper hills now.
It's been the most time consuming kondo sort for me

Then it's onto photos properly stored I've already Kondoed them and sorted them into some order but they deserve better than shoved in a box
I've Kondoed toxic people and situations this past year too
Life's too short to put up with c**p
Anyway have a great day everyone whatever you are doing
