One bin bag full of tops no longer giving me joy........refolded rest in the required manner using the super quick fold method and now all T shirts in one place
Some guerilla kondoing going on too - attacked OH T shirt drawer - havent chucked any but I hope now he will see just how many he has and will do the decent thing

Hi there, what a great thread:j and what a revelation. Been trying to declutter this past year as hoping to move (at some point anyway!) and couldn't understand why, if things were going out, why wasn't the house any tidier and still full of clutter.
So I bought the book and have started again, had no idea so few things gave me so little joy!! Started with my underwear drawer which as far as I was concerned I had already done WOW WOW WOW, it suddenly occurred to me that I kept all these raggedy old pants to wear when I went to the gym, which meant that the only time I was seen in public in my pants I was wearing ones I wouldn't be seen dead in  so now only have lovely looking pants all lined up beautifully in half the space.
I love that this book takes a different approach ( don't try and store stuff that you don't want and don't like!!), also, I don't know if anyone else has found that I have also stopped feeling guilty about the stuff I actually do like and love! For example I like old china, it brings me joy to look at it even though I only occasionally use it, so it will be staying:T
So, am now off to do the ironing, which will now be a pleasure ( well a small one!) as I will actually be able to put it away, properly and in its rightful space!
have a great evening everyone

I am loving going into my sock and underwear drawers and taking items out from the front and putting freshly laundered ones (folded/rolled) at the back.
I need to start on t shirts/tops and sweaters tomorrow, I don't envisage letting much go from sweaters, over the last few years I have amassed a lovely collection of cashmere mostly from CS with a few from clothing agencies and they all give me joy. I am a champagne at beer prices lady:rotfl: :rotfl: I have very sensitive skin and mostly wear natural/ luxury fabrics next to my skin. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. LiR ((hugs)) to you, I wish I could do more
I've spent the last 4 hours kondoing paperwork. Have got all the really important stuff into my tiny little fire-safe box, and the rest into 2 box files!
That's by just keeping 1 or 2 most recent docs for everything like banks, insurance etc.
1 file contains pension docs - I have 5 at the moment, and am in the process of transferring as much as possible into my current pension, to rationalise a bit! When that process is finished I'll be able to weed some more.
I'm so glad I borrowed a big shredder :rotfl:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I haven't done much this week as have been busy but did the drawer of carp in the kitchen and got rid of loads of silly bits and moved things round. I need to find a place to sort candles but at least for the moment they are all together. I also sorted my sheets and towels out. I haven't discarded any yet but they are all in one place for me to go through. I changed the sheets tonight and felt a bit weird finding joy in the under pillowcases as my late mum made them.
I reserved the book from the library weeks ago but there are still 3 people ahead of me! We are looking for new wardrobes for our bedroom but I don't know whether to go for ones with more shelf space or hanging.
Looking forward to starting it proper on Monday (working all weekend). I am aiming to start on the spare room and hope to get some bits to the charity shop.0 -
I haven't had much opportunity to Kondo this week but had a good go today. Amazed really to find that the drawer 'full' of rammed in gym / yoga gear that was driving me bonkers did only contain four pairs of knee length leggings, one pair full length leggings, three vest tops and two pairs of shorts rather than the twenty or so that I thought must be in there.
Once folded nicely I found they all fit neatly in half the space of a deeper drawer, so I swapped it all over and now my knickers are in the shallower one - I am sure they'll be happier living beside the bras.
I have had a first edit of the airing cupboard but got a bit fed up and not entirely happy with the way things have gone back in, so will have to revisit that and will change some stuff around. I found a hat belonging to OH sandwiched between towels and some lovely white fluffy towels and bath mats that were long forgotten about.
I designated one small dresser drawer to sewing stuff and against all MK advice I put in there a tin for spare buttons and a couple of tupperware boxes to house all the random ribbon, scissors, tape measures, safety pins and the likes that I have found in other places.Mortgage

I don't know why Kondo'ing is so distracting....but I started on my paperwork the other day knowing full well that I had other (real) deadlines to meet. It's shrinking, and feels a great deal better. But doesn't help with my deadlines! Have realised Kondo'ing is a convenient tool in my arsenal of procrastination techniques.
I actually strayed into the territory of Kondo'ing my study, which is choccer....am dying to get rid of the boxes and CPD I'm never going to look at again but really need to concentrate on the task in hand. I said I'd make a start on it in Feb, tomorrow it is!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Yeay VFM
Someone up at this hour like me wanting to talk kondoing
I posted yesterday that im on my 4th sift of paperwork. The paper tiger is nearly tamed. Its going to be so much easier to maintain.
ive devised a simple system see if that works.
DAILY ACTION STATION
An action station for all incoming paperwork
this will be a basket or container near to front door as possible
I intend to open all mail straight away and action or with lack of time I will leave it in the basket. This must be emptied every
night. Then filed, actioned or dicarded.
Weekly filed items dealt with on Sunday nights.
PERSONAL FILES
Medical -banking ect
I intend to update sons personal files - with permision of course
with a section in the front to be called To be sorted and sorted sunday nights
SHARED HOUSEHOLD FILE
bills-statements-insurances ect anything to do with house
my sons are happy for me to manage that.
with a section at the front named To be sorted then sorted on Sunday nights
Cleared out once a year
ARCHIVAL FILE
This will be papers not used regularly but need to keep
this is potentially the baby paper tiger that can grow if unchecked
will be gone through at least once a year
MK says to throw out papers but I wont be doing that.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”
