  • Hi Everyone. I had a bit of a Kondo wobble today. I saw 3 things for my home which were greatly reduced by 80% today and will be needed eventually in my house some time this year. Only a cost of £6. But I stood and debated in my head whether I should buy these now as its more I'm bringing in to my house. In the end I did buy them as I'm eventually going to have to replace the old ones. They were such a bargain and I kondoed them straight into the airing cupboard and chucked a couple more things out of there so I hadnt had to find extra space.
Am I going a bit too far? Are any of you struggling to bring things into the house that you know you will eventually NEED in the course of the year (and a bargain at an 80% reduction) or is it just me? :(

Hi, its called Wardrobe Wonga but it might be local to near where I live I suspect. I'm running around grabbing clothes shouting 'is this necessary, does it bring you joy??' I seriously think they think I'm losing it, but the deadline is tomorrow when the clothes are being collected!!

Thanks for your reply. I have done a search and nothing came up so it must be local to you. I will have to brave the retail park.

Good luck and hope you have loads for collection:)

  • Tea towels folded in quarters then rolled and stood up in a small box in the drawer, with the napkins which I had to ranger roll. My linen cupboard is the problem. It is narrow but wide. I couldn't ranger roll the towels they are too thick and came out all curved. So I just rolled everything and stacked them together. Every time I take something they all come unrolled! I figure I need some baskets to put them in, but as we are selling and moving, I will put up with it, as the new house's cupboard is much more cupboard like...
  • Hello

sorry for the rushed post, dog wants to go to bed!

I bought the book in May, FANTASTIC, loved it, bit nuts but not so much that it drives me nuts.

Started doing it but also started working 6 days a week and forgot about it all!

Thank you for the tips and recommendations, I shall give it a go. I was tempted by "Banish Clutter Forever: How the Toothbrush Principle Will Change Your Life", which also looks at debt management and getting to the root cause of clutter. Anyone else read that book?

I loved Banish the Clutter, great book and the sole reason my Bathroom is tidy.

NOW, imagine how easy and quick housework will be!

My daughter was a born Konvert, before MK was even a twinkle in her father's eye! She cleans her 5 bed, 3 bath house, top to bottom, in 2 hours, every Saturday! :rotfl:

How does that happen? My best mate is like that too, Saturday up, shop, clean meet someone (me) for lunch (who is exhausted and half way through some decluttering nightmare) and needs to slope off early for a nap to recover.

Am convinced a tidy Kondoed house would make me happy!

I am doing my room in half term, too much pain in the butt work to do in the mean time!

So glad my friend Pooky told me about this thread!

    Nevertheless she persisted.

Cleaning a large house in 2 hours? She's very self-disciplined, has a fully trained DH, NEVER allows ANY clutter (it wouldn't DARE!) ... and has no children or pets.

:) Not yet, although I rejected the opportunity to buy another pair of oven gloves on the grounds that a pair lasts me about a decade and the present incumbents are in very good nick and that my very limited storage would be taken up.

But for items required in 2015 and at 80% off and only £6 in total - yup, I woud have jumped on them with both fists and nary a second thought.

My interpretation of MK's book and ethos is that it isn't some kind of hardcore minimalism where people take their belongings down to 100 things and live like spartans. I have no desire to camp out in my flat, it's my home and if there are presently more towels than strictly necessary, they all fit in a small cupboard, as do many other things, and natural attrition will take care of the excess, which will move to a sufficiency and then an insufficiency of towels. When I get towards the latter status, I shall be looking for bargainous towels to top up the household.

I certainly don't regret the 4 super towels I bought from the chazzer last year at 50p each.

Love this tut to make a magazine rack/file box
    out of cereal boxes
You could just use a single box though.

I just like the easy way she covered the box.....simples!

Edit I would just use quid shop double sided tape to stick he paper down
