Thanks for all the tips on tea towels. I've made a cardboard drawer out of old packaging that would fit into a previously wasted space. I ranger rolled the tea towels but they don't look nice, so will try rolling them later... Maybe in front of the telly.weaving through the chaos...0

Took all the excess books, CDs and DVDs to the chazzer yesterday, they were happy and so am I
Didn't manage to get anything else done because I was so tired with the lurgy, but I'm a lot better today so I'll crack on tonight.
Thanks to those of you who advised me to carry on kondoing in the hope that DD would follow suit - the majority of yesterday's 'outs' were hers, and she proudly showed me her bookshelves now with everything in order - even little figurines grouped with the relevant book/film series - it looks great :T
I've kondoed the cat food :rotfl: took all the pouches out of their cardboard boxes and lined them up in a (newly) spare drawer. I can probably use the boxes as containers in other drawers too - win win
Edit:
I've found this company

That's good info. We go to Bristol about once a year so maybe we can take a carload of old video cassettes the next time we go!0 -

I started off rolling up my tea towels and micro fibre cloths but they didn't look nice. I ended up folding them instead. It took a few attempts to arrive at the right number of folds to fit them into the (already owned, repurposed!) plastic basket I am storing them in but now they look really nice.0 -
Thanks for the Banish the Clutter recommendations - I've just placed a hold on it at the library. I'm top of the queue for this, and 4th for MK's book.
I can really start to see the gaps and empty space in my home now though. I will try and blitz some more tonight as I'll be busy all weekend with singing rehearsals. The kitchen needs tackling - got my eye on some excess tupperware for the charity shop box."Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

Just finished going through mums things, didn't find her ring yet. 3 bags in the car ready for thE chazzza. Having a little break, got killer backache, then cook dinner - my version of moussaka using some lamb leftovers and a quick tidy round.
Tonight I will make a start of dads paperwork:eek:
I Am aiming to do a little Guerilla Kondoing in DS2s room tomorrow, although I've made a bit of a start already weeding out the worst of his manky socks and tatty undies. I bought him new ones but he keeps on wearing the old stuff. I've bought some of those IKEA drawer divider thingies, they were on offer last week, 4 packs for 3, so I've stocked up. They really are useful and keep drawers organised.
I'm afraid there are very few clothes in my wardrobe that are currently giving me joy. However I'm not going to discard all of them just yet because I'm on a mission to lose weight so I have just reduced it down to a capsule collection of items that I can mix and match, weeding out the things that I hated the most.
So I'll be one of the ones who will be doing a second round of Kondoing at some point. :rotfl:0 -
Wardrobe kondoed and three bags of clothes to the chazzer. SIL came round and dismantled the two beds upstairs as they will be going to our local charity next week. Bought all the stuff from upstairs down to go to the recycling centre and have another three bags for the CS...phew!
I can feel the house starting to breathe.

Oh and kondoed the bookcase, took all the books out and now the bookcase will go to charity too.Pay off all your debts by Christmas 2025 no. 15 £0/69490 -
Well that wasn't quite as bad as I had feared. I have already two black bin bags full of clothes which I do still like but not as much as what I'm keeping. Done tops and bottoms. Still need to do coats, hats, bags, shoes etc etc. Should be done by the weekend but I don't want to rush it and then find that I've discarded just for the sake of it. My goal is to have just as much as my storage allows without squeezing things in.
Dunno what I'll do with all those shoes and bags. Will be difficult to let go of all the leathery stuff, methinks.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Ahem... 51kgs of unwanted clothes were taken away today, netting me £31.
I can feel the house beginning to smile...
Birthday celebrations tomorrow and Sunday, so no sorting then, but Monday I begin again!!
