  • I bet all roofers are very busy at the minute! Thank goodness there was no other damage.

Is your daughter home now? Or still living it up?:D
    Debt Jan 2017 = £42k
    May 2022 = £15k
  • Thanks Parsnip - wind is the worst element for me - i hate it too! The MOT passed thank goodness but DH said replace oil and something else so it will cost around £95.

The roof came in at £180 but DH put it on his cc (its took a hammering lately).

Paws - DD arrived home last night :j She loved her first work trip away and wasnt phased at all by the cancellation. She had her tea and then went straight to the boyfriends - welcome back!

    Its the weekend yay!

So far I have done nothing productive

I relaxed last night and all of this morning

Time to move myself - I shouldn't complain the house is a mess when i'm sitting looking at it - ready, steady, GO :rotfl:

Just spotted you on Fortune's new diary.. hi

Glad you didn't suffer as much as you feared with Doris! Can you reclaim that money on your insurance?

Hope you have a good weekend

    :hello: and welcome brizzledfw

It's wasn't worth it as our excess is higher than the repair! DH paid it on his cc - when I get paid I'll contribute - just means that what i wanted to put towards my rolling debt is now being put to the roof and MOT for this month. Did the storm affect yourself?

I shall try and find you too and have a read of your journey :)
  • I'm hungry but don't want to eat so up in my room reading diaries and getting inspiration and reflecting as well.

I took on only one challenge at the start of the year on this site and that was the 365 penny a day challenge - well I have been sticking to it :j

The pennies were going to go to celebrations later in the year. I am saving both in a jar (then moved to a box as jar is small - now I know I could just use the box but that will take forever to fill and pschologically filling a jar is satisfactory :D) and also PADing from my bank account to another account.

Well I've had a change of plan in relation to the bank account. Instead I'm going to use the bank account pennies to reduce the overdraft - it makes much more sense. I don't want to and can't live in the overdraft forever and it does feel like forever that i have been living in it. So signature and speadsheet updated accordingly.
  • I went to an Ald* that I've never been too before earlier as this week I split the food shop into 3 shops. The savings I made went towards a roll of wallpaper in the L*ura Ashl*y sale - they had end of ranges for £5 - I only want one roll for the feature wall in the spare room. DH bought some gloss so the room is coming on now :j Just need light, curtains and carpet.... now how on earth can I do that on the cheap?

Will definately go again - I tried my cat on their cat food - it was so funny she sniffed it then popped her head around the wall to the utility room to see if her other cat food was there!!! She was disgusted and walked away. Anyway she went to it 1/2 hour later and ate it - yeah I've saved money :money:

I've got a thing atm about sponges to clean up with. T*sco ran out and so have Ald* - I eventully got them in Ic*l*and. I complained to T*esco last week as they hadnt had them in for around 4 weeks, and now their own brand kitchen roll and toilet roll have ran out. They said there had been a fire in the wholesalers as regards the sponges.
Well the positive is that I'm shopping around more trying to save the pennies or making them go further.

I hate eb*y but am tempted to use it again
  • I don't like the sound of a loo roll crisis!
    Debt Jan 2017 = £42k

  • Haha i'm sure every household has an issue with toilet roll :D

T*sco informed me yesterday that they are stopping their own range now with toilet rolls and kitchen rolls and will review at sometime in the future ... so basically giving me the (toilet) brush off :rotfl:

I've been feeling quite run down and have a lovely cold sore to add to my sorry state :( I actually went to bed at 9am and went through (apart from a toilet visit at around 1ish) ... what is it with me and the toilet conversation .... March sounds like Spring when everything is new - hopefully I will turn into something new and not a run down, fat, middle aged woman !

I feel so happy I have been paid. I've transferred to joint account for the bills, most of my dd's have come out, apart from od fees and car insurance. Most importantly I have updated my spreadsheet which I luv, luv, luv. Psychologically its working watching the debt go down with each payment and I'm budgeting better by making the pennies stretch further if I can and I have paid some money off the o/d.

Disappointed with garage as car had to go back as it had an oil leak - it passed its MOT on Friday and I had an oil change done but there was an issue with it - anyway they fixed it - but what frustrates me is that why didn't they fix it when they were actually doing the oil change... probably hoping it would be okay? I dunno!

Eb*y have offered me £10 off and I have to use it by Friday. Now the question is do I put it off a light for the spare room which I need and use the sale proceedings of my last item and hopefully try and get a light? Think I will try.

I also have a pair of curtains that I bought ages ago in the sale for £10 (they had a mark on). I never put them up. I dont even know where they are in the house :rotfl: I think I could use them somehow in the spare room (I have 2 windows). They could possibly be made into false roman blinds - will ask my friend. DH is doing a cracking job with the painting... glossing everything in sight! Puts the rest of the paintwork to shame

It's another tight month ahead for March but hopefully will get through it without borrowing on cc - fingers crossed !
  • I did have a little spend today - I didn't make lunch as no salad stuff in so £3 spent in canteen  I did have a free cup of tea off a colleague which was nice from Kosta Lotta :T

I've used the voucher eb*y gave me and with the sale of my previous item I added a little extra and have purchased a hand made ceiling shade that matches my wallpaper :j Free postage as well :j

My friend says she will do "something" with the curtains :j

I need to price a carpet and then work out how we are going to purchase it. To be honest all upstairs needs carpet replacing (2 rooms don't have any in) and if we want to sell (and after watching many TV shows) we do need to dress the rooms properly (on the cheap) to attract the buyers.

I need to figure out how to sort this expense out - its either sell on eb*y or get some extra work - or both:eek:
