I find paying people compliments a funny one some people really don't take them well and usually put themselves down.

In my experience, the next time you pay that same person a compliment, they take it much more easily. Of course, there's always the risk that they think you're after something, but I find it worthwhile anyway. It's something I've been doing for a few years - it costs nothing and it when I receive one it's a fabulous feeling, so I want to pass that good feeling on.

Hi BunBun! You're not alone in knowing that if you did even half of the lists your house would be immaculate! Shuffles back to grubby hovel with a bucketful of good intentions as always ....

Dentist this morning, phoning the plumber to ask him to look at the drains and putting the double room back to rights. It's a lot less pongy than it was so at least we don't have to buy a new bed and chair because they are definitely not the culprits after all as I thought they were. Need more vinegar, I went though a litre doing those drains.

Soothing vibes for your friend, Ionafan. I hope she's getting the care she needs in hospital and managing to eat regularly.
    Better is good enough.

Yay, welcome back FBO :j Glad you made the move back north of the border safely.

 Welcome DundeeDoll, Tidy Up Tash and bunbun2.

    I have made a start:
    -LR de-webbed
    - Bins emptied
    - Personal finances checked

Thanks to all who are sending GWS wishes for my friend. Unfortunately she is still very poorly, and I would honestly be very surprised if they said that she was fit enough for her second chemo on Friday.

(((Hugs))), spoons and sticks to all as needed x

Nicki - I am confused by your boiler as if the LL is reimbursing you for getting BG out he should also be the one sorting the boiler. My understanding is all LLs need a boiler inspection certificate. I cant understand why you would have had it installed.

The boiler was fitted through the warmfront grant in 2010 in my name, I have all the paperwork still to do with it and also my landlords first language isn't English so that causes problems as well. I'm trying to get the original installation problems sorted, but trying to get through to the company responsible is a minefield of menus. I keep getting "In this cold weather your condenser pipe outside could freeze and cause your boiler to fail....call back and speak to an advisor" automated message and then cut off.:mad: I have the landlords gasman (last I heard 2 years ago he was retired and thats why we've had a different company coming out to do the services/safety certificate!) coming this afternoon to look at what's what.

One child decluttered to school, taking with her some christmas cake, and I assume something from her goody hamper. Not sure if she's taken fruit or not so I'll make sure tonights tea has veg :o Finances updated & there's a £30-50 difference between what I think I should have in there based on my records (that includes dd & card purchases due!), and what the bank is saying is available  That'll have to wait until I've sorted the boiler before I start phoning them as I have no idea whats going on. Thank goodness my parents were able to help me out yesterday! :o

Hot coffee drank, going to make another one then start calling the boiler company again

    The gasman is here :j:j
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.
Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!

If she offers you her slow cooker don't hesitate and accept it immediately and gratefully. Very :money: for batch cooking and using cheap cuts and root veg. Maybe the wok too, if it is in good condition. The other two appliances are a waste of space IMHO.

Good luck with the gas man and boiler company, nicki.

I have decluttered some small plastic 1ke@ boxes with blue lids which don't fit properly and some shrunken socks, and I've planted my amaryllis and shone 2 sinks :)

This might be totally unrelated but my SIL had a new boiler from a warm front grant awhile ago which broke down too. Not sure what happened though as I didn't ask.
