My savings....

Ok So I have an HSBC Current A/C-Savings A/C..... I also have some money in an NS&I Direct ISA A/C I had it since I was born and couldn't take money out till I was 18.... I used some of that money for a Holiday To New Zealand and on a playstation 3 ages ago.... I haven't touched it for nearly 2 years I think.... I still have some money left in it (Will check how much soon) I would like to move my money from there.... I would Ideally like somewhere which has ok/good interest rates and I can get instant access/money out anytime I want... Would be a bonus if I got a cash card with it as it would be easier to move my money about... But not worried if don't a have cash card... and get statements sent out to me so I know how much in A/C Etc... I don't know where is best to move my money to.... Any ideas??

Check how much you have got in the account first.

An account that meets all your requirements is the TSB current account that pays 5% on amounts up to £2000. As it's a current account you get all the usual facilities like debit card etc.

If you really require statements to be sent out to you, then the TSB accounts aren't suitable, since you need to register for online statements and correspondence to qualify for interest - but logging in to view your statements is no real hardship.

Don't get caught up about names.

If you want the best interest rates then an account called a current account not a savings account is the best option. In reality there is no difference between them other than the current account having more features available. Both pay interest, one just 10x more than the other.

I know barclays have a cash card with there Savings A/C with 0.31%/0.80% interstate rates with 2.1% extra in the 1st year... But dunno if other banks do it. I don't think HSBC Do Cash card with there Savings A/C

The OP isn't really interested in high interest current accounts (see previous thread). In fact, they're not bothered about a decent interest rate at all (see previous thread).

So, OP, take a look at the Tesco Instant Access Savings account:

0.75% AER interest (but that won't matter to you!)
    Statements sent once a month
    Comes with a cashcard
Can pull money in from your HSBC account via DD
Can be fed via FP from your HSBC account
Can be fed by cash/cheque at selected Tesco stores

Would seem to fit the bill...perfectly?

And are you "not fussed" if you don't get these either?...because you're listing 'essentials' one minute and then changing them to 'desirables' the next!

When you first posted nearly two weeks ago I recommended a second HSBC account running alongside your existing account (with the caveat that there was possibly a 0.001% chance of you not having access to any of your cash if they had a problem). A question...since such an account would seem to meet your needs perfectly (although it is difficult to say for certain since you're moving the goalposts regularly!), why haven't you opened one?

Oh, and add the YBS Internet Saver to your list alongside Tesco and Barclays. And also add...well there are several more...but they're all the same, so at some point you're going to have to make a decision. Can you do that?

Very un-MSE, and very sad to see a young person not bothered about making the best from their money but hey-hoh, everyone's their own boss.
