How to leave Vodafone at the end of a minimum term contract

Porting the number out to another provider is the best 'confirmation'.
However, Vodafone must send you the final bill showing that you don't owe them anything.

I've definitely read reports where customers were being billed even after porting out as the account wasn't properly terminated.

I've never heard of this.

If the PAC request counts as notice to terminate and I have to use the PAC within 30 days or it expires, how can I port out after the 30 days?

If the PAC expires then I have to request it again and have to wait another 30 days.

There doesn't seem to be a clean way out of this.

You can use the PAC anytime within the 30 days it was issued ..The PAC does not give notice to terminate it's only when you use it

So does the use of a PAC waive the need to give the 30 days notice that Vodafone seem to require?

In practice it does.
It's like a notice, but if it expires unused the contract goes on.

I don't quite understand this, but it doesn't matter what the shop staff say. What matters is what the contract says:

5. Ending this Agreement.
You can phone Us and give 30 days’ notice to end this entire Agreement with effect from the end of (or after) the Minimum Term.

I read this as the notice can be given at any time. The ETC (if any) does depend on the actual termination date.

I appreciate the advice but that seems like it could get messy cutting it that finely as the port only takes up to 24 hours to occur.

Even if I port out on the 30th day that's still within the contract period.

I'm probably better off waiting until day 31 when i'm free of it to avoid any unpleasantness.
