    Debt-free and Proud!

    Hi

During this year I want to
    • clear the debt
    • move home
    • lose weight and get fit, and sort out clothes and a beauty routine
    • decide what I want to do about work
    • de-clutter and simplify at home and work to help with all of above

Good luck to everyone with your goals :)

I'm still thinking through my goals before I commit them to "paper" but all of the above will included! I like the idea of goals and targets rather than resolutions. Resolutions can be broken but goals are "worked towards..."

    Debt-free and Proud!
    1. Be frugal - live by Martin's mantra of "do I actually need it?"
    2. That being said, budget for nice things too. 2014 brought some bad times, so its important for me to have time and funds to do things with people who mean a lot to me.
    3. Pay off all debt by the end of March. I will do it!
    4. Then save up the money that was going towards debt for home improvement.
    5. Keep posting on this website. It really keeps me in check.

    Good luck everyone!

Happy New Year everyone. My 2015 goal are:
    1) Have a thousand pound emergency fund. Paid £40 into my credit union account taking the total to £79
    2) Finish the Great North Run and the Blackpool half marathon - Nothing
    3) Pay off my Simply Be account (currently stands at £759) -Still stands at that amount
    4) Carry on making my house nice (there is too many things to do to be more specific). Nope
    5) Not get into any more debt - Resisted getting an Apple Mac on interest free

My computer is poorly at the moment so it was hard resisting getting a new one on credit. Will stick to the old plan of getting the laptop fixed at the end of the month. Nearly a 10th of the way to my emergency fund though :)
Saving for Christmas 2017 £120/£400

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    1. Ring bank tomorrow to get remaining balance on my CC, divide it by 10 and adjust the direct debit amount to get it paid off by the time my 0% deal ends.

Slight change of plan for me re number 1.

I rang the bank and did what I said I would (divided the remaining balance by 10 and got them to adjust the direct debit accordingly) but he mentioned that my 0% deal runs out in December 2016 and not 2015 as I thought.

I've been dwelling on it all day and I'm going to call back and reduce it to minimum payment again and put the money into savings until then just in case work dries up next year.

I also did an SOA and realised that with my current level of spending there's no way I have enough left over to save the £300 per month I wanted to so I am going to have to cut back in other areas. I know for sure I won't be going on holiday this year :rotfl:

I'm going to limit my weekly shop to £65 (for 3 of us and including my lunches.) We'll all be downgrading to own brand soap/washing powder/fabric softener etc (no matter *how* good the branded deal looks.) The cats will be getting own brand cat food instead of their current Felix good as it looks (or at least a half and half mash up.)

To celebrate this epiphany I went to B&Q and spent even more money but on stuff to tart up the house (we're talking boring stuff like tile adhesive and polyfiller not cushions etc.) which at least helps towards one of my other objectives.

I remembered today that I have a £20 M&S gift voucher and have no idea what to buy with it so I may have to loiter near the tills and try to flog it to someone that's paying with cash :o
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

    December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.10
  • :hello: everyone and happy new year to you all! Thank you for the new thread NYD :) and good luck to all the soon to be new mama bears out there!

My visits to MSE dwindled in the latter half of 2014 after being very much a regular poster to my own diary in 2013. I have started a new diary and wish to pop along here posting monthly updates with my progress for 2015's goals.

    1. Ultimately, I want to be happier and content with my lot in 2015.
    2. Pay off remaining £1k debt from my pre-house ownership days.
    3. Pay off interest free loan taken out to buy new dining room table.
    4. Pay off interest free CC taken out to buy new curtains and blinds.
    5. Continue to save at least £300 per month.
    6. Drink 1L of water every day.
    7. Do something new/different every month.
    8. Exercise at least twice a week.
    9. Learn a song on the guitar.
    10. Read 12 books.

Ok, that's quite a few things but I think they are specific enough to mean I can get a fair number ticked off throughout the year! I quite literally need to hit the ground running with the exercise one as I feel that's been a huge knock on my self confidence over the last couple of years. I had a great new year (not so great New Year's Day :o) so now I just need to get on with my pursuit of happiness for 2015!

    Good luck everyone xx

    My goals for 2015 are

    1) To reduce my overall debt level and try to clear in full if possible
    2) Start saving an emergency fund
    3) Save for a holiday in the uk
    4) Start saving for a house deposit, would like to save £20,000 in total over next 3 years
    5) Complete my maths course
    6) Work hard to pass my uni course
    7) To look after myself more
    8) Continue with my weight loss and get to target - 2 stone to go

    10) Meet up with friends more regularly

A few of these are already underway but I want to be able to start crossing them off ASAP x
