Hi all,
I have 2 plans for 2015 all depending on how a job interview goes on the 9th Jan but my main plan is to leave my current job.... so plan 1 if I get the job:
Start new job, which is actually related to my masters
move back in with my parents
Pay off car loan which will be September 1st
Save for deposit for a mortgage (as I refuse to pay more money to rent than for a mortgage!!)
Move out of parents, before I kill my little brother! :rotfl:
Plan 2
By April to of saved enough to leave my job and to go travelling again
Sell my car and pay off the loan giving about £3500 over to fund more travels
Travel to india and volunteer at a guiding centre
See Thailand, some friends in Australia and to do working hol visa in NZ
:beer:Thanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. Currently living and working in Canada  :dance:0 -
I already posted this on another thread somewhere else but having given the debt free aspect some more thought...
- Ring bank tomorrow to get remaining balance on my CC, divide it by 10 and adjust the direct debit amount to get it paid off by the time my 0% deal ends.
- I will still have a bank loan outstanding but am currently on a year long contract so I plan to just continue making normal payments on the loan but save at least £300 per month in another account for the next 10 months. That will give me a £3,000 buffer in case work is slow picking up next year but if work is plentiful then I will use it to pay down my loan.
- I get nearly six weeks holiday where I am currently working so I'm going to try to book myself some freelance work for at least one of those weeks so I get an extra weeks money for that week.
- I must get around to ebaying some of the bigger ticket items I have laying around but have to admit I'm not looking forward to it and most of the 'smaller' stuff is being periodically carted off to the charity shop. My biggest problem with ebay is getting nice pics as I currently don't own a proper camera and these bits aren't things I can steal pics from the internet for.)
The rest is copied and pasted from the other thread...
Drop 3 dress sizes so when my contract runs out at the end of next year I reenter the freelance world/job market as the slim old me (5 days into diet already )
Do the illustrations/photo montage for a children's book I have written.
Complete the mock up of new magazine idea I have to pitch to publisher.
Declutter the house and add more storage.
Redecorate the house in a style that will be more appealing to others in case I can't find as much work next year and need to downsize.
Pay off the last of my credit card and never run up another, the end is in sight!
Be more sensible with money generally and try to build up a bit of an emergency fund while I have a steady income.
Stop investing time and money in finding nice Christmas/birthday presents for SIL and BIL when we receive a load of shoite from them. Buy myself a nice Christmas/birthday present instead
Limit my internet time with an egg timer. The modem was broken for a few days post Christmas and it's amazing how much more 'stuff' has got done without itMake £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 - Ring bank tomorrow to get remaining balance on my CC, divide it by 10 and adjust the direct debit amount to get it paid off by the time my 0% deal ends.

Morning All,
I've decided to come back out of the shadows this year. It helped me being on here a few years ago and then I started to slip back again so....
for 2015 I will:
1) Come back to MSE
2) Save £1000
3) Reduce my credit card by at least £1000
It's my first year of homeownership this year so it could be a bit of a challenge. Oh and shift the Christmas beer belly.
Happy New Year Y'all!Wise man once say "When in hole, don't dig"0 -
