Thanks for the lovely welcome everybody, I'm on CD7
I do my OPKs at home, couldn't cope with faffing about in a work toilet!! I'm quite clumsy so have to collect first, I'd end up peeing all over the wrong bit of the stick!
I've now got an internal exam and smear booked for Tuesday - I'm mainly worried about what the Dr thinks of my personal grooming (is it just me that worries about this when going for smears etc??) :rotfl:
OH is taking me away for my birthday (which is the same week as Valentine's Day) so hopefully will ovulate then, though it would be a bit early for me.0 -

It has crossed my mind, although nothing really compares now to when I had a speculum up inside me, Doctor had just finished, I sneezed and it shot out. I changed Doctors after that.0 -

I've never had a smear test due to my age (22) although I had to have an internal test when I went for an STI screening at my GP surgery, which was the same as a smear test in terms of using the speculum...and it wouldn't fit!
I took it as a compliment.Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

*delurks* If it makes you feel any better, aileth, during my first internal examination during my last pregnancy, I was so tense and nervous that I broke the first speculum whilst it was inside me! Yes, broke.I'd rather have sneezed it out any day!!

AHHHHH you have all reminded me that I'm supposed to book my first smear test (turning 25 soon).... I have NO IDEA what to expect... and you guys are NOT HELPING :-P0

Just had my latest smear last week. Something quite odd about talking about the weather whilst you've got that going on. Guess we'd all better get used to having medical staff peering into our bits!0

It's seriously nothing to worry about. Takes a couple of minutes and then you're done. I get a bit sore afterwards like period painy and a bit of spotting. You'll be out of there before you know it0 -

My first smear was a double appointment with an ECG I needed. Within half an hour I'd been naked from the waist up, then naked from the waist down. I might as well have not bothered with clothes! Also, the amount of times I checked she wanted me to take my underwear off was stupid. I mean, I don't know how else I thougth she was going to do either test, but I didn't want to be that patient that inappropriately started waving her bits about!

mrsdottyp a smear is nowt to worry about. Strip from the waist down (try not to think what the nurse is thinking about your dodgy fake tan or pruned lady garden). She'll tell you to lie on your back, feet together, heels close to your bottom and knees apart. Speculum to hold you open a little bit - warmed up a little if you are lucky. You'll feel a little prod inside but nowt painful and you'll be told to get dressed before you know it.
There may even be a comment through the curtain afterwards about how strong your muscles are down there and that your husband is a lucky man... no? Just me then?
Anyway, feeling thoroughly down in the dumps today. CD1 and I spent 3 hours in a room with a Prego girl who can't talk about anything else and another woman who just got back from maternity leave and considers herself an expert in local nurseries. It was a cruel, cruel day.

I'm only 26, but in Scotland you get smears from 21 so I've had a couple. In my last one, the nurse told me I was very relaxed and that's why it was over so quickly (I'm talking barely seconds!). I was like, errr, not sure that's a compliment!
Honestly, smears are totally nothing to worry about, though I have also had the moment where I realised I hadn't shaved my legs just as I took my jeans off... :rotfl:Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018
