Welcome Lleucu
I'm usually a thread killer you can see the tumbleweed going past when I comment on threads. Thankfully this is a strong thread and is addictive. It makes you accountable
Even if you only are chucking a small amount
Or like me yesterday practically the content of my very cluttered kitchen.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Can I just ask why some of you number the stuff you are chucking?”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

hi jinny, some people opt to declutter a set number of items a year/month/week or just in batches so the items are numbered then to help them keep track.
its what ever works. ive started the year saying ill try for an item a day so not numbered as long as i remeber to pop in and post daily with at least something gone i know im on track. some days will be more productive than others.
HTH
welcome to the thread BTW, also welcome to Lleucu and anyone else whos joined since i last said helloSPC~12 ot 124

A quietly successful day yesterday to report from here.
- · I turned the veg bought for soup into soup and it’s now chilled and waiting to be labelled and put in the freezer, so no veg hanging around on the surfaces going off and nagging me.
- · A friend called in and a pair of very slightly too small to wear walking boots decluttered to her friend who has smaller feel than me.
- · Some old Christmas cards, many of which I’ve had for years, into the bin, (not recycled here) as I’ve finally realised I’m not going to do anything with them and they were just another ‘guilt’ I was carrying.
- · Put new battery into digital thermometer so that is off the wok surface and back in its place and usable again
- · 2 cream sample jars emptied – they were years old – cleaned and put into my salve making stash. The decluttering bit is that they are no longer lying about on the shelf being moved but never used and I also don’t have to buy and store any jars for my homemade salves because it’s only really worth buying the large quantity of tins as I refuse to pay more for the postage than the item.
But oh such a long way to go:eek:Aiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget

17. I went through my toiletries and makeup drawer and took everything out and cleaned it and put everything back in a neater way.
Binned - an old butterfly earring I found, I had thrown away the other half to it a while ago.
18. Binned another nail varnish, it must have been 5 years old at least.
19. Threw away an old letter I had been keeping for sentimental value. Well it went into recycling. Can I just ask why some of you number the stuff you are chucking?
I thought I would find it hard to find more stuff to declutter in 2015 as I got rid of so much last year so I thought numbering would help me stay on track.:)HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Hi all
Didn't get as much done at the weekend as I wanted ie the wardrobe remains untouched but I did go through my makeup and put aside an eyeshadow, mascara and lip liner for freecycle. It barely made a dent but it's something I suppose.
I went through my bookshelves and put about 7 or 8 books in the CS bag along with the bits I mentioned last week.
I listed the hula hoop, timer and nail polishes on freecycle and had takers so they will hopefully be gone this weekend.
Am thinking of selling a massive soap and glory set I have but not sure if to use snaply, facebook or gumtree.0 -
Can I just ask why some of you number the stuff you are chucking?
My daughter and I are playing Minsgame (http://www.theminimalists.com/game/) so I'm numbering my items so I can keep track of what I've let go.
Didn't manage to update yesterday but have turfed out...

Joining in late but have been steadily decluttering the past few months since we moved house in November. We have a nice new home and it's larger than anywhere we've lived before but we don't want to fill it up with all our old junk!
I don't have any specific daily or weekly goal but am just aiming to keep steadily getting rid of stuff and organising different areas of the house until it's all neat and tidy. So far this week I have freecycled an old microwave and taken a bag of things to Oxfam, organised our shed and a cupboard to hold all our toilet roll, extra shower gel, toothpaste and clean towels.
I get home early from work on Wednesdays and I'd like to organise the under stairs cupboard but might have to choose a smaller project.
I really like this list of 10 creative ways to declutter your house:

Today I needed to go to town for a mystery shop and I took two full bags to my favourite charity shop, including some bits I'd earmarked for ebay, but in my heart I knew I'd never get round to.
Once in the shop I did spend 10p on a horrible histories book that my DD does not have in her collection.
This afternoon I've already prepared tea and whilst doing it I sorted through two kitchen cupboards and now have two more carrier bags full of kitchen bits and bobs for the charity shop.
I have not yet been through the playroom, need to work up to that, however I have just ordered the card game Uno from ebay - £2 rather than £6 in argos. I'm hoping it will be a nice game for us to play as a family.
Yesterday I decluttered about 3 inches off my hair! Very pleased, but getting used to having a chilly neck!0
