Oh Butterfly - I've just seen your signature, honey. I didn't mean any offence - I honestly assumed it was a predictive text "correction". So sorry if I have made you feel bad in any way. It really was not my intention :( I feel sad now...
  • Morning all
Hope everyone has a good day and finds unwanted stuff to jettison from their homes.

Not permanently of course but I need to declutter my two sons to school and work before I can get on with the day.

No, I don't mean moving it from pillar to post. Just finding a new home for something I can't use. When my DS decided he needed to move to a larger house I offered to declutter my home to keep him company as he found it dispiriting. It's amazing how much stuff has found a new home on the way. Our local town has more than a dozen charity shops but looking round some seem to have more in the way of clothing, others books and yet more bric-a-brac. Whenever I go into town I try to take my shopping bags full with items to drop off and then I don't feel too bad if they are full on the way back, albeit with food mainly.
As a example, I had inherited a lot of jigsaws, mainly of the country cottage variety, and they had sat in a cupboard for ages along with an ominous box entitled "spare pieces." I now have a large sheet of card which fits under the sofa on which I have a puzzle in progress. As each is declared complete off it goes to the CS that seems best suited and so on.
I think the other thing that has helped things get cleared is using an item up completely before starting a fresh one, from food and toiletries to cosmetics and stationery, it is amazing how often I have come across multiple packs or items in use. It has certainly tidied the cupboards and saved the purse in the meantime.
