2015 - No Clutter To Be Seen

Evening All
Good few hours today with ongoing declutter/emptying of DS's room prior to re-decorating. He has a lot of stuff, even though I feel like over the years I have had regular clearouts and his bedroom has been quite tidy and organised. We did books today, went through them all, he said "keep" or "can go" to each, two shelves and a whole bookcase worth went through the process! Lots of book series he loved at primary school but won't read again, also too young for DD, gone. I really don't like books leaving. I already have a stash of toddler/younger children's books which we loved and read over and over together, they will always stay :-). But, we don't have room to keep every book they ever owned and I'm fed up with dusting them when they're no longer read.
Also did an outgrown summer clothes cull for DS, but pretty much replaced with new stuff in next size up, so not really a net reduction in clutter. But everything he has clothing wise now fits and will be worn.
Really hope to find time tomorrow to clear last few bits and bobs from his room, it's the random stuff left, which is harder to decide on, so we'll see. On the upside, when I move him back in to his newly decorated room, it will be clutter free and much easier to clean.
Keep going everyone. Even if you just do one drawer or a shelf. Every single item out is progress!

Oh I hear you on that one!!!!! We still have the videos boxed and stored just in case .....of what I'm not sure:mad:
As for the DVDs well don't even start me off on that one there are piles on top of the racks (mine also has a weakness for hddvds - the red box ones that didn't catch on like bluray did)
Best I can hope is that I have at least convinced him that some are one watch so if I'm prepared to sit through them with him a few at least have started to leave the house but it's a very slow process.
Saying that
2 DVDs we won't watch again went to work with him this morning to give to work friends:T
Buy those cheap CD wallets from £1 shops, organise and throw away all of the DVD boxes!
I've just cleared an entire bookcase into one shelf by doing this. Write the title of the DVD on each pocket as you go and sort them into categories so you know which one they go back into. It also makes them easy to find when you want to watch them.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. TappingI'm finding my way back to sanity again... but I don't really know what I'm gonna do when I get there~ LifehouseWhat’s fur ye will make go by ye… but also what’s not fur ye, ye can jist scroll on by!0 -
I've been doing some de-cluttering today. I feel more motivated when the weather is sunny.
I am going to weed out some of the clothes in my wardrobe and I am probably donating a radio to a charity shop. I'm not sure if people really listen to the radio on those things in this day and age.
I have put some jumpers and a warm dressing gown away in a bottom drawer as I know I won't use them until Winter.0 -
Yesterday I donated to charity a bag of stuff that has been driven around in the boot of my car for about 3 weeks!
912: children's mirror (Pingu) in little bag
913-915: three packets of gel pens
916:packet of painting stencils
917-918:2 packets of self-adhesive shapes
919: child's purse
920: Ikea hanging storage net
921-929: kid's books,6 down from the loft :T
930-933:another bundle of kid's books,from loft
934:pencil case
As you may remember,we spent 3 months decorating the kid's 3 bedrooms, and OH and I are sleeping on a mattress on the front room floor. We "finished" painting, decorating, carpetting, decluttering etc all the bed-rooms,except we were to wall-paper a feature wall in 12yo DD's room.
We still haven't got around to that, because it was pointed out (by a friend who was visiting) that a feature wall is the one in front of you when you walk into the room.Well,we didn't know that (hadn't really thought about it before-I guess we thought you could make a feature of any wall you like.)That wall was already painted,so yesterday OH started poly-fillering the opposite wall (that we were going to wall-paper),ready to paint next week.We are then going to re-arrange the furniture in there .
Today I am trying to make a bit more room in the front room.I have mentioned before that OH hoards "little plastic men": Warhammer figures, all sorts of toy soldiers, associated role-playing games/books/figure-making stuff : putty, scalpels, paints, etc.Far too much carp!!Well, when we lost our bedroom, all that stuff was piled into towers nearly ceiling-high into the front room with us.I TOLD him I was not putting up with that in "my bedroom" for the rest of infinity. He has already filled up our huge garage with more similar carp,so he this week he filled our huge (8-seater) van TWICE and drove the towers' contents to his parent's place. He hasn't touched any of the stuff since the towers were built in December, and since his parents offered,I accepted on his behalf.
With all that gone,I am sorting out the couple of boxes of stuff emptied out of our bedroom before it was handed over to 12yo: cards and crafts from the children, mostly.I cannot throw any of it,so am storing it in a box neatly somewhere.I have also rounded up all my paperwork in the room, and put it an one box, which I will sort through a bit at a time.SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76
