after routinely doing a decluttering spree every half term for the past few years, my efforts seem to have ground to a halt as all of the easy stuff has already been done. So to kick start things I am setting myself the challenge of re-homing 100 items as my cupboards are full of 'just in case' things. I need to start being more ruthless.

    1. 6 ramekins from shop bought puddings
    2. 20 odd shot glass sized individual dessert pots
    3. cup& saucer from tea for one set (the teapot doesn't bounce, as I learned the hard way  )

New half term, new decluttering spree!

    4. 6 items of footwear
    5. 24 items of clothing
    6. 3 bags
    know thyself
    Nid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...

Underbed drawer done this morning and only a couple of things left to be rehomed - stuff to bin, Cs, and a friends daughters. Feel great as want to keep bedding in there - although do need a new home for handbags.

Still putting off tackling my shoes as I know I will find it hard to be ruthless.

    Everyone doing so well!! X

Buddy ell,my house is sooooooooo full of rubbish!!Drives me crazy .
I only tidied the house thoroughly on Wednesday.Still lots of clutter lying around with decorating the 3 rooms, but dear the place has gone downhill since then.

My OH was going out this morning, but yesterday said that when he got back he would start painting the 3rd bedroom.I wasn't sure he would have time, but he reckoned it would be fine.

So while he was out this morning,I did only a little bit of clearing out of toys.It is a tiny box room,at the moment it has no bed in it,but piles of stuff for charity, boxes of son's belonging for when he moves in (still on a mattress on sisters' floor),a very big bookcase, and a "canvas wardrobe" with his stuff already sorted as "keeps".I really didn't want to unload the over-full bookcase, and move the books into one of the newly decorated,trying-to-keep-it-tidy rooms.Same with the canvas wardrobe and Trofast system.

So all I did was clear out a few boxes of stuff, then garner the Trofast system and a few bits into the middle of the room. When OH came home I told him that instead of emptying out the room,we would sugar-soap and paint one half of the room, then move stuff across and do the other half.In the meantime the kids and I would sort through the books and decide on keeps and donates.THEN bookshelf would be easier to remove for carpet.

What ended up happening was OH came home later than expected, realised that before sugar-soaping or painting he needed to Poly-fill a few areas on the walls (this had been pointed out to him many times since Christmas ),and decided he didn't have enough room to work after all.Hurriedly we then emptied all the bookshelves and dumped them all over 12yo's new room (small mercy-she is out for a sleepover tonight,so the clutter not affecting her),moved out the Trofast system. Then OH was able to Pollyfill.
So some Pollyfilling done, then OH sat down to watch rugby, now nothing else will get done,I expect til next wekend.I really did want this room done this weekend, carpet installed during the week, and son moved in before school goes back next week
    Sick of all this chaos.

473: broken music box.It was one of the "paint your own" that one of the kids had done.Normally that is the sort of thing I would have kept because the kids had made it,but I really am just getting sick of carp
474: bundle of 37 kid's magazines out for recycling

  • I've fallen off the wagon this past few weeks due to being on crutches and the dreaded bug doing the rounds in the house.

BUT, all kids are away until Monday with grandparents, so I have lifted everything on the bedroom floors onto the beds so I HAVE to go through the stuff to get the beds ready for them coming back lol.

I did go through my cupboards and the shelves out the back room and have disposed of any food that is out of date/half eaten etc. Any food that won't be eaten and hasn't been opened will be donated to the local homeless collection point.

Wish me luck for tomorrow, as I'll need it lol. I'm DETERMINED to get rid/bin/donate what isn't needed or hasn't been used in over a month, and this mid-term break I'll be getting the kids to help out and keep a new cleaning/tidy up routine going

Found a very nice "final final reduction" sale rail in M&S - bought DH new jumpers to replace the far too big ones he's been wearing since he lost weight. So that he didn't look greedy I bought a few bits too....
    "In" - 6 jumpers, 5 shirts/blouses, a cardigan, a pair of trousers and a dress (14 items)
Out: 25 items into recycling bag
    Net reduction = 11 items
