Charly, fussy cutting is when you choose which bit of the pattern you want to use (it might be in the middle rather than by the edge), e.g I chose to have the two birds on the cat's body and the flowers looking like eyes. The alternative, just cutting anywhere, would not necessarily have given me this effect.
sweetcarer, I went back to the exhibition the week before last with my friend (she's a weaver), and noticed your sampler was missing. I had told her about the framing issue beforehand and she went round commenting on what had or had not been "professionally framed". She's had work on display in different exhibitions too, and said there has never been a requirement for that. She loved your purple samplers btw.Sewing 88/COLOR]Woollies 19Card s 91Reading 37/400 -
Hello all
Wee heads up - hobbycraft are selling off their mill hill beads for a pound a pack - but if its anything like the Glasgow one - they are all in one box and you have to search if you want anything in particular - took an hour and half to 5 out of the 6 was needing - made a comment to them about it and they say people keep mixing them up when they sort them into - antique, seed, petite, etc. Made a joke at checkout do I get a discount for all that searching but the girl was quite stern and said no we don't do discounts.

Tricksie you are steaming through those 15! How do you do it?
My children are all grown up and pushed out of, I mean flown the nest so just DH and I. I'm lucky enough to work my 40 hours a week over four days which gives me a three day weekend every week and DH works shifts which means I get quite a lot of 'me' time
I will be adding more knitting projects to the list as my step daughter is expecting in December. Found out last Sunday and started a little white cardigan that night, gave it to her this Sunday and she was thrilled.sweetcarer wrote: »Hello all

I always think that most of the workers in Hobbycraft don't even craft, as they seem to have no enthusiasm for the stock.Cross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44:rudolf:Cross Stitch Is For Life Not Just For Christmas :rudolf:0 -

open Lego sack by Bobbie Doctor, on Flickr
Project 6 completed! Son & Grandson requested a sack for lego to make finding bits and tidying up easier. They know this sack works because I have one here (mine's made from an old duvet) and daughter had asked for one for her son. Grandson asked for orange and blue colour scheme.

That's brilliant green tiger, I'd love to do something like that for DD2s partners children it would her her and them at tidy up time.
Currently working on another blanket, I've crocheted 16 squares and am in the process of edging them and getting ready to put them together. This one will be a tombola prize for the school fete.SPC~12 ot 124

Long time no speak, although I have been checking up on all your fab makes.
Although Ive not been chatting I have still been crafting. Since last speaking I have completed numbers 7-10 of my list below. I will get pictures on later.
1 Make super hero Cape for daughter DONE
2 Sew dress using pattern and mastering (or at least using) bias binding DONE
3 Engraved 'Frozen' drinking glass DONE
4 engrave jar with frozen sisters and name for niece DONE
5. Make painted sign for hallway DONE
6. Cover lampshade with fabric DONE
7. Drawing pin 'anchor' picture for hallway DONE
8. Cover three old candle jars with twine and embellish DONE
9. Clock for drop on stairs DONE
10. Two skirts for daughter DONE
Only five more projects to go to finish my challenge and I have to say I quite proud of myself (and all of you, who seem to be storming through your lists)
I have my next three projects in my mind
1. I have recently decorated my front room and although my current curtains match, im bored of them. My mum has also just redecorated and her curtains are much nice than mine.
The problem is, I have a bay window so need 2 pairs of long ones. My mum has given me one pair of long curtains and two pairs of short. I'm hoping to stitch the short ones together to make them long.
The curtains are striped s should be easy to doand the tv will hide any joins anyhoŵ. Any leftover fabric will make cushion covers.
2. AT the back end of last summer my daughter had a big growth spurt and her wardrobe had to be restocked with summer dresses. I thought they would do again for this summer...... But no, she's had another spurt so they're all too short. I plan to refashion the dresses into skirts, shorts or tops for this summer.
3. I'm planning on starting my christmas crafts very soon. First on the list is Santa hat bunting. Very simple triangular 'hats' with a wooly pompom hanging down and binded at the top with white for the rim of the hats.
Ll three projects are obviously sewing ones and my machine is in my bedroom. Hubby has just started working nights so sleeps during the day and of course the kids sleep on a night, this is making my sewing very difficult!
I need to drag the machine downstairs to get on with it!
Sorry for the essay and I hope everyone is well and happy!Mummy to ds 29/12/06 dd 10/2/08 ds 25/5/11:Amy angel born too soon 18/11/12, always with me Emmie Faith:A15 projects in 2015 10/15completed0 -
Finished crocheting another blanket, this ones slightly smaller, I've been trying to use up a ball of assorted 25grm balls I bought at the carboot last year. This one is being donated to the school for their summer fete.SPC~12 ot 124
