LyneP sounds good to me I have some chives that were reduced chopped up in a box in the freezer so I may have that for dinner tomorrow night I had one of the tortillas tonight with cheese and salad bits tonight,I will have the other one for lunch tomorrow with a herby chicken thigh from the freezer.I am hoping that nothing is going to waste at all this week and my purse will stay firmly shut
I must make the celery soup in the morning as I didn't have time to do it today, that wil go into the fridge for lunches next week(uses up the bendy celery as well )
Out all day on Sunday as I'm doing the RFL at Mote Park and then going to lunch and dinner at DDs afterwards, so no cooking to do at all at home on Sunday:):)

Morning all
Fab news on the MOT Lyn :T
JackieO we had fajitas last night for tea and I'm planning to use the leftover cheese, salsa and sour cream to make nachos tomorrow for tea. Any leftover sour cream from that I will pinch Lyn's baked tattie idea - sounds yum.
I'm just off to work the now, managed to pick up an extra shift today - just 3 hours but that's an extra £20 or so to go towards the debt. It looks like its going to be a lovely day so we're off camping later. Hope everyone has a good day.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86
Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50

well mine did I had a YS packet a few weeks ago (9p) from sainsbugs and it said to snip them into short lengths and loose freeze them and they have been fine as an extra in soups, casseroles etc so mixed with the sour cream they should be fine .
I tend to have a go at freezing almost anything and if it works then great, and if it doesn't, then it gets binned, but if its surplus that I can't eat anyway, it would have been binned anyway so this way 99% of the time it gets used:D
Gorgeous day here in North Kent at the moment and my washing is already blowing in the wind on the line, hopefully it will get ironed later and put away. Soup making this morning with the bendy celery which will be stored in the fridge for lunches next week.No shopping to get this morning so I will concentrate on some baking perhaps.I have a fancy for some cheese scones. So thats the plan of action for today.
Hope you all have a great weekend and the sun shines down on you where ever you are

You're up and about early Jackie with your washing out! Plan today is to turn 3lb of Raspberries and 3lb of Blackcurrants into jam. We're out tonight to a BBQ & tribute act (Spice Girls???) Always excellent food so no cooking!
I've put an as on the local web page for a freezer so fingers crossed. Isn't it amazing that the two in my garage are both over 20 years old in fact I think the little one is more like 30! & still going strong while the kitchen one has been repaired twice.
Off to see what else today will bring - have a good day all xSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I did my washing last night as the forecast was good for today, so it was on the line by 7.00
:):) It will be dry by 10.00 as its really warm already Just having some melon for breakfast then on with the baking before it gets too warm

Hi all
Feeling a bit rubbish today as had no voice for the last couple of days. At least I haven't got work today & tomorrow so should be able to take it easy!
It's good that the sun is shining here in South Staffs so already got 2 loads of washing drying on the line& might sit out (amongst the weeds!) with a cup of tea in a bit.
Have a great day everyone x0 -
Well, for saying I was planning on a restful day I have so far.......polished & hoovered, washed up, emptied the bins, put out the recycling, 2 loads washing dried on the line, ironing, washing put away, listed some cropped trousers that are too big for me on eeeebay & decided I couldn't sit amongst the weeds (DH has been promising to sort the garden! so weeded the garden too :A
DH just got in from work so I've made us both a cuppa & now I'm sitting outside enjoying my weed free garden hoping the fresh air might clear my head at some point & that I'll stop coughing soon0 -
Hi there :hello:. I'm de-lurking today. I've been following this thread for a while now, and what a lovely level-headed bunch of people you all are. I was inspired to make Jackie-O's chocolate chip cookies today so I had a look in the kitchen cupboard for ingredients. I didn't have light soft brown sugar but I did have the dark kind so in that went. Then I found two opened bags of chocolate drops. I didn't look at the dates, but chocolate is mainly sugar and sugar preserves right? Anyway, in went half a bag of milk chocolate drops and the rest were white chocolate drops that I had already. I've just tried one, you know, for quality control purposes and they pass!
It's been a bit of a bonkers morning. I did a charity 5k fun run at 7am then went over to my local parkrun and did another 5k at 9am. I can tell you, I NEEDED that breakfast at Wetherspoon's. I've never been there before for breakfast but it was great. Less than £5 for Eggs Royale (poached eggs, smoked salmon and hollandaise on a toasted muffin) with unlimited filter coffee. It was great. I'm not planning on being a regular but I enjoyed it this morning. There were plenty of people in there too.
Just washed a load of whites which will be blowing on the line very shortly. Then I'll get out into the garden to pot up some flowering plants that I have been growing on. Begonias and Chrysants, which will make a splash of colour when they flower. We have courgettes, tomatoes, peppers and chillis coming on, as well as some dwarf beans which are starting to produce.
Enjoy your afternoon all.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Do you know about the Japanese Haiku.
Yesterday it worked.
Today it is not working.
Windows is like that.
or
Programme aborting.
Close all that you have worked on.
You ask far too much.
Well, my computer has been like that for a week or so - very temperamental.
Haven't had time to catch up on all your activities but will do so as long as the beast allows it.
FairyP: I think it was you who gave me a recipe for scones. They are easy, cheap to make and gorgeous. I just have another 6 dozen to make for the Church Garden Party's cream teas. Actually it may be the Church Hall Party as one of the neighbours has a problem. Doesn't have quite the same ring but we're flexible. Anyway, thanks FairyP, I owe you!
Had a fright when I finally got through to this thread, it came up in the new, improved :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: format.
Ye Gods! Who came up with that stonking idea?
It's quite true, no-one ever made their career by saying, "This seems to be working perfectly well. Let's leave it alone."
I'm hoping that someone somewhere will be saying, "Ah! Poor thing, she's old, that Monnagran, and pretty feeble, let's put her back on the old format."
As to MMM. Success at last. Only last week when we went shopping I came across the Rev comparing pots of jam. "Look", she said excitedly, "these are £2.50 for 500 grams but these are £3.00 for 750 grams, so the dearer ones are more economical." EUREKA! It's only taken 10 years. Mind you, shopping takes an age now that the small print has to be read and calculations made. It made me realise how it is second nature to me to work out in a flash what is the most economical thing to buy whereas to the Rev (and I suspect to a large portion of the population) this is a novel concept.
We had 'fridge throwout bake' for lunch yesterday - 2 sausages, 2 slices of pensionable bacon, some soft tomatoes, a few leftover new potatoes plus a chopped onion all cut up and thrown into a dish with a drizzle of oil and baked in the oven with an ounce of two of grated cheese sprinkled on top for the last 10 minutes. Yummy, and enough for today as well.
As you see, getting my computer to work has gone to my head. I'll stop now.
Love you all
