Tried posting twice today and my bloomin tablet keeps dying ... So I've borrowed the kids ipad
Not a lot done today ...
I've cleaned BF car which he has given me and have called the person who is buying mine to tell them it's ready to be collected ...
I've used up some rather ropey looking veg in the fridge for dinner so made do with that.
And I haven't really mended anything but I did get some potted herbs that my friend was gonna ditch and have put them in a little pot (not sure how to look after them but thought it's worth a try)
Well busy day again tomorrow as I've got the car boot sale on in the morning so need to be up early to do my exercises then leave for Carboot at 6.30 (we don't open until 8.30 but there's some crazy people who like to turn up really early !!)
Will keep my eyes open at the car boot as last week I got the boys new school trousers for September thier £2/pair brand new with tags on from M&S
That's me done for tonight time to go to peeps as alarm set for 5

Hiya All
Hope you ve all had a good day! I started off feeling v negative but feeling much better now! why the transformation? Well - managed to get washing on the line; do the washing up; post some letters (having moved the car to the car park so it wouldn't get ticketed - you cant park outside mine after 8 am). So that was positive. Student was more co-operative than usual which was nice and better yet it was MUCH cooler to drive there!!
Then a friend txted me and wanted to come round - so I told her she could come round for tea - but only if she didnt mind what she got!!! found a sweet potato- bought an onion from the local shop - and made biryani (I have all the spices) from left over rice and a veggie sweet potato and coconut curry! (always have 'block' coconut in - you can use just a little bit - which you cant do with a can of coconut milk!) She had some downloading to do. Bless - after years on her own (divorced with two kids) she has refound a previous boyfriend. I am so pleased for her but lots of her friends and relatives are being very negative and deriding her and their rekindled love. Her kids are older teenagers with lives of their own (they are ok with it)- and she is not letting him move in and is saying that if she ever does she will want it all tied up legally. He seems a nice chap - I ve met him over an evening of a party. Why cant folk be happy for her??
They are being so mean they are upsetting her. So v happy I could take her for a pint and feed her a curry and comfort her.
Anyone else had experience of this kinda thing??
MM&M - this is the third meal this week where I have fed folk unexpectedly form storecupboard!! Makes me think how many meals I could make from all the ingredients that I have :rotfl:
Also dried clothes outside again! And put tumble dryer on Fbook to sell!!!Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!

Well done Lyn on your inventive meals, sounds really tasty.I do seem to be in a rut with my cooking repertoire. If i drop you a txt can I pop round for my tea?
The photos are a difficult one.I haven't looked at them all but they are a lot of him and deceased wife.He never looks at them but feels like he needs to save them for his daughter (13) I think putting the best ones on a disk for her would be a fab idea, will float that idea but bide my time.;)
Doing lots of MM&Ming as I get used to this house. It has stopped smelling like someone elses house now.:rotfl:
Need to get my self in gear to get off to the hospital,it's an hours drive and parking is a nightmare.
Bye Vx:0 -
PS I never experienced any bad feeling when I met Mr V.Everyone was pleased that I had met someone after a 15 year drought!:0

Morning All - lovely day here & I'm going sailing in my boat with my friend this afternoon. I'm a bit nervous as this will be the first time I've sailed her without DH & I'll have to manoever her back on the mooring. Wish me luck!
Lyn - what a shame that people are being so negative about your friends new relationship. If she's happy & her kids are OK with it what's it got to do with anyone else! I think maybe there's a bit of green eye going on and maybe your friend is no longer so available for other people. Good luck to her, everyone deserves love and happiness in whatever form it takesSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Last year I had a huge cull of my photo's.What I did was to give both the Dds photo's from their childhood and growing up and their Dad.Then the same to my ex-sis-in-law and to my brother.(I was a prolific photographer for years )
I consolidated my ones I wanted to keep for myself and cut the stash by about three quarters at least.
Its hard to do sometimes especially as you get older.I also made sure that on the back of family pictures I had a date and names of the people on there. As an amateur genealogist I know how frustrating it is to have a photo and not have a clue who it is or where or when it was taken.A lot of my family photo's I have scanned onto my computer and backed up on a stick which is also labelled.I didn't want to girls to have to sort through them when I shuffled off this mortal coil. This way they have less to sort through at a time when they probably would not feel like doing it.I have, as I have got older, more strict about what stuff I keep for this reasonNot that I'm thinking of going anywhere for a good few years yet,my youngest DGS Mikey said I have to live until he is at least 50 (his eyes, really old
) he is only 11 though
:):)
But it must be a bit difficult for you as his DD may want them as she grows older.
Today I have to fill in the massive 11 page document for my renewed blue badge.God know what they do with all the pages of stuff you have to fill in.I have had one for the past 13 years and every year the documents seem to get longer. Then it will be handed in at the local council satellite office. The chap told me it takes 6-8 weeks before I get my new one!!! probably takes that long to read the blooming thing. I have just posted off a two page document for the renewal of my DGS Ben's UK passport which I think was quite reasonable bearing in mind its importancewe will drown bureaurcrocracy soon, still I suppose it gives someone a job
Apart from that and making some choc chip cookies for DGS Mikey for after school not a lot to do today.maybe a bit of tennis watching and some knitting
Hope you all have a good MM&M day
Cheers chums JackieO xx0 -
Quick MM&M question...does anyone know anywhere on the highstreet that does good patches for ripped jeans? Some dubious holes have appeared in my jeans precisely where I don't want them to be (if you know what I mean!) Before anyone says it...we don't have a market anymore. The council in its wisdom decided it would be much better to sell the building to Primarni....*puts soapbox away*
Would I be better off looking on the net?
Thanks!
ETA: alternatively anyone know if I can just sow up the rip (if I tidy up the frayed bit first)? The denim isn't very thick as they are only cheap highstreet jeans.Every act of kindness, no matter how small, isn’t wasted ❤️

Hi! Thought I'd join in as I've a lull in work for a few weeks. Mum and dad are visiting next week so I'm doing a deep clean of the house (needed to be done anyway). Today's room is the lounge. I'm also filtering as much washing out onto the line as I can--second load just finishing off now but might have run out of room on the line. I also need to clear out a bit of furniture which some men are coming to help us move tomorrow. Should be an easy job.
This afternoon I'll either be sewing or making strawberry jam with the strawberries from the garden. I sleep with an eye mask but the last one I made is a bit too dainty and not quite keeping the light out so might try to make another or finish up another project. I have a basket of clothes that need altering/re-making etc. so might tackle that. If I'm feeling particularly lazy I'll just pick up my knitting again.
Bargainhunterss,
If the hole is one of the two places I think it might be then you're better off with a patch than trying to sew up the rip which will only place more stress on the fabric and cause more rips. I don't know of any HS shops that do patches, but if you have another pair of jeans or any other fabric you can make your own. I'd probably patch from the inside, rather than going over the top as it looks neater. If you do want a ready made patch I'd probably try fleabay or amaz-ing.0 -

If he really wants to save them for her there are better ways of doing it. I have Master Cranky's photos of him and his dad on a USB stick in a fireproof safety box and also most of them are on facebook and on a photo hosting site too. Some of those have to survive :rotfl:0 -

Thanks FairyPrincessk, I'll have a look on ebags and amazonians and see what I can pick up. I'll see if any of my pairs of jeans are beyond repair and use them for making patches (yes I have multiple pairs that are in need of TLC!)Every act of kindness, no matter how small, isn’t wasted ❤️
