Monna so lovely to 'see' you and glad the scone recipe has proven useful. I've just made jam, so perhaps it is time to dust the scone recipe off again. Another six dozen though...I don't envy you that task! The format usually goes back to the 'old' one when you login.

OH and I have done the shop, I've done the ironing, kitchen is tidy, OH has done the floors and the cat has...well I'm not sure what she has done but she looked cute whilst doing it. I've pulled the weeds out front, the last of the washing is finishing off drying on the line and I'm knackered. Mum gets in tomorrow and then dad gets in Monday--he wasn't feeling up to the trip to the states so they haven't seen each other for a couple of weeks now as mum has been visiting my grandmother.

I'm just having a sit down and listening to the Jazz programme on R3. OH is making tea tonight--paella.

I managed to donate a few bits to the CS on the way to do the shop, but must confess I've bought a few things I'd normally make from scratch so I won't have to spend all of my time whilst mum and dad are here in the kitchen. I've bought one of those Apple Strudels from Ald!, some pastry for a quiche and lots of sandwich bits for lunches. I'll do a quick loaf cake when the quiche is in the oven and perhaps whip up some tabbouleh that can go on the sides of a few things.

    Hiya All

Sorry to hear you are not feeling too bright Mrs Smith and that you get better soon - I am slightly inclined to hayfever and as its so dry at the moment I have problems when I sit in the garden/mow the grass/weed the place! And have done all three today - hope thats not why you are suffering too - apparently pollen counts are through the roof at the moment.

Hi chickadee - welcome to one of the kindest places on the net. Always a friendly hand available.
Hi Monna - good to see you again. FairyPrincessK - how lovely to be able to relax while someone else cooks - well organised that woman!

Today walked for one hour to collect car - I could have taken a cab for £3.50 but not know Im MM&M - besides which it was a lovely morning and its a very pretty walk and i need to loose weight and also I keep on meeting nice people with beautiful doggies on the walk!! :D
Then I spent 2 hr doing work for CAMRA and clearing down my e-mails 374 unreads!!Then I watched Sean Bean in Sharpe (who can blame me!! :o ) while taking up trousers and, in the adverts doing some filing. Then I mowed the lawn and trimmed the edges and removed another ton of flippin convulvulous or bindweed!! my neighbours dont do gardening ergo the ruddy stuffs rampant!! Also made a lovely boiled egg salad - real old style with beetroot, tomatoes, lettuce, cucmber etc - sometimes the simplest things are just what you need - kinda comforting! Also did a 'Oh my God' stirfry for tea (what veg needs using up in the fridge + noodles from storecupboard!) :j

So a busy, productive, NSD day for me so Im feeling virtuous! For tomorrow I will probably fall from grace but badly!! :rotfl:
Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!

  • Thanks Lynplatinum, I think it's definitely a summer cold. Been awake quite a lot during the night coughing & sneezing :(

Up this morning & started off a casserole in the slow cooker ready for when DH gets in from work later. Very make do & minimise! Used quite a few things out of the freezer - YS diced beef (don't know how long it's been there!), mushrooms, YS carrots, YS courgettes, onions, broccoli stalks plus a jar of sauce out of the cupboard & a tin of chopped tomatoes that were dated bbe 2012
    Hopefully will taste ok ;)

Have a good day everyone, I'm going to search for more things to list on eeeebay :D

Grey here today & maybe rain so indoor jobs today
Lovely to 'see' you Monna - you gave me a good giggle with your Haiku's this morning too!
My tablet has updated and I'm getting the 'new style' :( so I'm using my pc 'cos its still 'old style' & much more user friendly as I can't find the bloomin forums or the user cp on the new style.
Had a result yesterday - I'd posted on our local website for a freezer & someone has just given me one as they had replaced it for a matching one to their fridge AND its only slightly smaller than my old one. Its just waiting for DH to change the door round for me and then I'll be ready to go again.
Managed to do 3 1/2lb of Raspberry Jan & 6lb of Blackcurrant yesterday from last years crop. Will also be making some Quince Jam for DH today or tomorrow and some chutney from a recipe I've adapted from Madhar Jaffrey. By the way if anyone is interested Asdar have 5kgs bags of sugar for £2.86 at the moment although I didn't have time to trawl Lidlee or Aldee.

Have a good day all x

:j Nice work with the freezer, silvasava, and well done on your sailing excursion as well. I'm very nervous around the sea and doff my cap in respect to those who go out in water deeper that you can stand up in.

Homestead is in a mess atm and has been for days, as I've barely been here apart from sleeping, and haven't felt like tidying up when I have been home. Intend to have another cuppa, get dressed and take a donation bag down to my chazzer which opens at 11.00 on a Sunday. That's better use of my time than moving the items around in this small space.

Have also broken out a fancy bar of gift soap, in my pursuit of not saving such things for best. Smells lush.

Great result on the freezer Silversava. Ald! had in one kilo bags of jam sugar--the only place I could find it without getting on a bus but can't remember the price of it now.

GQ enjoy the soap--and bonus soap lasts so much longer than the gels so you'll get to savor the posh bar even longer.

I've got sheets out on the line and tidying is all finished. I need to defrost the fish for tea and trying to decide if I'm going to pop to the shops. I was going to make a quiche today for lunch tomorrow but forgot to get cheese for it and Ald! haven't had crunchy peanut butter for several weeks now so I've run through my spare now and will have to just get it at Mr. T. Still, if I wait until tomorrow I can sit and knit for a few hours which I'd find far more enjoyable than trawling round a SM for two items.:p

Mrs. Smith I had a nasty cold that started a couple of weeks ago--just now starting to get over the cough. It isn't nice to be ill when the weather is so warm is it? I hope you'll recover quickly!
  • Thank you FairyPrincessk, will be having a medicinal brandy later to try & get a good night sleep before work tomorrow :)
  • What a horrid day it is here! I hate being stuck indoors and every time I think I'll go for a walk someone turns the rain back on. I'm all Wimbledoned out, cannot bring myself to watch any more tennis, have done all the jobs that need doing and am going round in circles online! On the plus side I'm dry, warm, and fed and have a roof over my head so I can't justify my own moaning.
