Oh crikey jazee that must have been scary!
Well FIL brought the kiddies downstairs and I fell asleep again :T which is lovely although he did let DD have 3 cups of milk  I've given her some medicine and fingers crossed she won't pay for it later, needless to say she's having no more dairy today!
Since I got up I've taken the outside lights down, thought I'd do those first as we are forecast strong winds and rain all afternoon. Inlaws have gone home now, so kiddies have helped me un-dec the tree, and I've just made them some lunch.
Feels bigger in here already - just without the tree! I need to vac and wipe the floor in the corner before the DVD storage comes back in from the dining room.
So we are getting straight here. It may be that I have a pile of boxes in the spare room until someone else visits to pass them up to me in the loftbut we can live with that for a day or two. It's probably a good thing, in previous years I always find something I've forgotten to put away after the boxes have gone up
I checked through my laundry rack and nothing needed ironing, it was mostly pjs and stuff. Except one of DDs tshirts. So that is one ironing item to start me off in the new year haha. Not that I was in the challenge.
DS has abandoned his lunch. It will go in the fridge for when he tells me he's hungry in 20 minutes...Bossymoo

Rebecca and Nicki - still awarding stgars up until Sunday night if you want a last minute push.
Floors hoovered and mopped. Onto the other floors next and taking the decoration down, just in the hallway and then onto sorting the landing.
Friends coming Saturday and Sunday now so need to get the place somewhat straight. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Afternoon all
Hugs and spoons to all ... regardless of whether needed or not.
There will be no flying in this household today, instead there will be eating leftovers, chocolates and playing Monopoly
Hopefully, we'll get to eat the steak we were meant to have yesterday, but DH was too 'flu ridden to care for it then. He's looking brighter today
Right, s'pose I ought to actually get up and showered !!
Have a good day everyoneGC - March 2024 -0 -
Last night DD and I spent time baking goodies for the family pary. She has made eclairs with a creme patissiere (creme pat) filling and a ganache and a Christmas Frangipane tart (fropm a Prima recipe) wich I downsized as my flan tin in smaller...I was 'hired help' really, clearing, washing as we went. I have made a veggie chilli (sans carrots) and the rice accompaniment and we are off to mum's to help her set up shortly. I promised to help on Christmas Day. On Boxing day they remided me but I hadn't forgotten, nor had I forgotten where were we having the party;) :rotfl:
I am trying to pluck up the energy to clean the litter tray as it's bin day tomorrow and the bin is STILL not full...
And, if I am honest, the kitchen could do with a vigorous S&S.
I am so pleased that my comments have been appreciated...it's easy to become maudlin and the two untimely deaths last year have been on my mind, as have the flyladies who have also left us, all of whom went 'early'.
On another note kudos to the hootenanny team - was thrilled to see Boz Scaggs:heartpuls the whole show was pure class!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
Just a quick visit to wish everyone of you a happy new year.
Still coughing here -we have all had it now so only little flying going on but it looks ok. Now pouring with rain so might go and tidy kitchen just need a cuppa first DS2 has just made one -ace

I am so pleased Mr Narco made it home for New Year! (Limited sympathy for Mr Kitten's travel woes on this occasion.)
Hugs, Jazee. What a horrible, horrible start to the new year. Kudos to your OH - mine would have first asked me if I could smell smoke, then asked me what I thought it was and then waited to see if I did the leaping and running about in the nuddy. Love him to bits but heroic he is not.I suspect DH will have a sore head but he is joining me this year in d r y J a n u a r y.
I've had the most fantastic support on the Giving up / Cutting down on Alcohol thread and a great many of the contributors have been saying they're going for a DJ, if you're looking for company and support. AF means something completely different over there!
Some weeks ago I bought a whoopsied pack of mince which I froze and knew I had to make into spag bol at some point so I've spent quite some time in the kitchen chopping, frying and stirring today. That's absolutely the last time I buy a whole kilo of the wretched stuff. I'm coming to the conclusion I don't really like beef.
I've got two bedrooms and a shower room to do today, just to get them done for the first arrival of the year on Sunday. And the stairs have a black tideline of dog and cat hairs, so I suppose I'll have to do them too.
My posts don't seem to be responding to my NYR, do they?Better is good enough.0 -

Write a list of 5 things you do that make you happy and 5 that make you sad. Ponder on how to do more of the first list and less of the latter.“Life is short, live it. Love is rare, grab it. Anger is bad, dump it. Fear is awful, face it. Memories are sweet, cherish it.”0 -

Thanks for that Dusty. Am doing the ironing while watching Mary Poppins and wishing that I could tidy up like she did!0
