Kitchen/dining room Done!
Main bedroom bed linen in and washing at the moment, one load of towels also done.
Quick trip to supermarket for tomorrow's dinner ingredients also done, and the packing up for DS1 to catch the post.
DS2 has left for London for NYE with friends before returning to uni, will miss him loads, but he's due to come back in reading week in February.
Brilliant sunshine here, so DD and I are going to go into town and wander around, although there's nothing specific I want or need.
Narc0lepsy Very happy to hear that Mr Narco is home, and send best wishes for his continued recovery. It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -
So pleased to hear that Mr Narc0 is home. Great news!:TGentle hugs for those living with depression, be it yourself or a family member. It's such a complicated illness. X
Just a wee thought, which may be of use; I got hold of a copy of "Facing The Darkness" by Cat Treadwell; and I've found it much better - less patronising - than most get-yourself-through-depression books. Probably because Cat herself deals with depression on a daily basis, and has put together her thoughts, plus those of other people she's come in contact with. It's a slim volume that you can just dip into as you want, you don't need to read great long tracts. It's written from a Pagan perspective, but is assuredly not just for Pagans.
No New Year Resolutions here - I made a resolution many years ago to make no more NYR's, and I've stuck to that ever since!:D
We shall probably spend the evening playing Dragon Age Inquisition; I can't abide the dross on the tv. There's a bottle of "Shampoo" as Mr LW calls it in the fridge (it's from @ldi) and of course we have Ronnie here; I don't think he's fazed by fireworks, and in any case, the game is quite noisy, so he probably won't notice any fireworks.;)
Have a happy and healthy New Year, Flyfriends.:beer:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Well, I lurked through 2014 and I'll probably lurk through 2015 but I'm still here, still flying to my own routine and still finding great back-up by reading along with all of you.
Hope 2015 is good to all of us x0 -
Afternoon
Boys have had a fab time. I've been to JL sale, trainers for DS3 for PE in the next size (hope he likes them), coat for DS1 (hope it fits) and some lovely wool for me to start knitting again - NYR to progress my knitting.
House has got in a right state downstairs so after a cuppa I need an hour's quick tidy and clean. DS3's friends going home over the next couple of hours, then DS1 will be home (not feeling well). Just me and the boys for NYE. OH has always wanted to go to the London fireworks and none of us have so he is staying in London and going to them. Not overly bothered but as he'd be grumpy here but does give me a pang of saddness that he is not bothered about being here. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Jacci My teenage son suffers with anxiety and depression, although in his case it's linked to a physical illness. It's so hard as a parent but I remember the psychologist once saying how important it is for kids to be able to speak honestly to someone about how they feel - and how they probably can't talk to their friends and don't want to worry or scare their parents. You need to encourage him to open up to you, even if it's stuff you don't want to hear, and be very calm about it. And yes medical help might be needed but he has to want this help which is tricky. Remind him that depression is an illness just like any other and he might need treatment to get over it.
I feel strangely flat today. Don't really know why except I am not 100% well. We are at a family party tonight then a quiet day at home tomorrow.0 -
Well for the first time since I joined the ranks of the Flyladies I have completed the ironing challenge. There are items still on radiators, but they are non-iron. I am both amazed and delighted.
The New Year party I usually go to isn't happening this year, so it is just me, DH and DD1 here tonight. DS is going out, and DD2 has already left to meet her OH.
Tomorrow will be a quiet day here. I aim to get some of the decorations down and put away, and hope to restore some order. I have signed up for 2 lifelong learning courses in the New Year so I will be hoping to get some reading done....:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -

Lovely to see you both, FizzWhizz and Pollybear!
Healing vibes for everyone (or offspring) suffering from depression. It's a bu**er. Much to my surprise - because I'm a bit thick - knocking the drinking on the head has meant I have been able to stop taking anti-depressants, too, and feel rather happy about life and that fact.
(((Hugs))) Dusty. Once he's got it out of his system by realising it's not so much fun without his nearest and dearest he'll probably be satisfied.
I decluttered OH to the station this morning for his annual Yew Near celebrations with his best friend. Every year he goes up to London later and comes back sooner, not sayin' anything 'bout that. However, as I prefer not to do anything at all on new year's eve other than catch up on the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures and he wants to paaaarrrtaaaay I don't mind him not being here at all. The period between Christmas and New Year is my personal annual review time and each year I add a little more straightening-out-stuff into the mix. I've spent most of today cooking and starting to sort out various storage areas in the house which is only possible, really, when OH isn't here because otherwise I have him hanging over my shoulder wanting explanations which drives me potty after about half an hour.
One of my 2014 Goals was to get all the food into the kitchen, rather than stored elsewhere in the house and I think I may have managed to do that this afternoon. Bit late in the [STRIKE]day[/STRIKE] year but achieved, which I'm very happy about.
Plus, I'd forgotten I'd put a white cotton sheet into soak days ago (treble oops) so that's twirling along with a load of other whites.Better is good enough.0 -
Ironing challenge completed
Happy new year all

Thanks for all of your comments about Mr Narc0's return home. Today he started rather well after a quiet night's sleep - the ward he was on was very noisy -and so far he's had 2 meals of the food he is meant to eat, not what was on his 'avoid' list which the hospital kept feeding him. He's also had a few high calorie snacks and we went for a very short walk to get some fresh air.
While he was asleep this afternoon, I went to Sainsbob's armed with The Food List. I was embarrassed at all the stuff I had to put in the trolley that I wouldn't normally buy - various flavours hot chocolate mix and milk shake flavour; biscuits, crumpets, crisps, sugary cereal (coco pops are on the list), pancakes with maple syrup..............it doesn't help that not only am I constantly trying to keep my weight down, but I'm wheat and potato intolerant so it's just putting temptation in my way. The smell of his new bread, toasted and buttered, this morning was torture!!! Rice cakes can't compare.
Not too much flying today as I did pretty well on Monday with lounge and kitchen, I'm just trying to keep it up.
I've already started getting email from students booking work for next week which is good, so I think I must have a big admin day tomorrow.
Honeybear I like your posts, don't change them. I think I'm the biggest rambler.
Enjoying everyone's bird stories. Knee deep in goldfinches at present.
Happy New Year to you all.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0
