Hello. I didn't join the challenge but my ironing basket is now empty. Just having a cuppa (and some traditional shortbread, it being New Year) and will then take a look at the listy. Not much happening at the paid stuff.
Spend less now, work less later.
  • Good news that Mr Narc0 is home :j:j:j I can understand where you're coming from with your disappointment over how his nutritional needs have been met while in hospital. Its a real problem sometimes in hospitals, everywhere :( At least you've had some good advice now and can take charge of it  We've had some very conflicting information about my dad as to whether he should be on a renal diet and at the moment he isn't (because a renal diet is AWFUL) but I can't help thinking that he should be :(

Have an extra child this morning, but ds is feeling a bit blue that he doesn't have a friend round so I'm doing jigsaw puzzles with him at the mo. Will crack on in a bit. Just 1 shirt left on the old ironing challenge :j
  • ps, how do you descale an iron? We have beautiful soft welsh water piped in from afar here so I've never had a problem with limescale :D

    Morning all

Narco so pleased hubbie is home

Jacci hugs for you and your son, how long has he been like this, is it linked to the shorter days. You could get him to try getting out in the bright light each day, a SAD lamp, Vit D supplements, St Johns wort. Try to keep him talking and to reassure him that depression in young people is sadly very common. Does he work?

Busy here as DS3 has had a sleepover. Been to Lidl, boys currently at the park. Need a quick tidy, put shopping away, put lunch on, collect boys, feed them, take them to the rollercity, pop to JL whilst they are there so no flying until later - see you all for a cuppa at about 3:30.
The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair

Morning All (it was when I started typing!)

Slept only till 7.20 but stayed in bed dozing and reading till gone 10 :T much needed!

Since then I've dusted, vacced and mopped all downstairs and taken down a few decs. Tree still up although may come down tomorrow. LR looks good but kiddies due home after lunch so it's just a matter of time... :p

Also mopped bathroom floors after doing all the rest inc tiles yesterday. So they are sparkling.

Need to bring green bin back in so one bin is empty at least :T

I've done a wash too - I thought the old superstition was to wash the old year out on NYE but not to wash the new one out on NYD, but I can't say we ever followed it in our family.

Must ring mum about coming to get their little trundle bed. It's currently on its side in spare room (so inlaws will have to have my bed tonight) and I don't want her leaving it here for months "because your house is bigger" gah. OK it is bigger but it's not a storage facility... /rant. Lol.

Just having a short lie down then I will strip my bed and remake for ILs, and set the spare room up as well as I can for me.

This aft I'm going to get spuds in the oven, make a very small chilli and sort my ironing. I'm not doing the challenge - but I do have a few bits on hangers that would benefit from a once-over. MIL might even help ;)

Other than that, just playing with the babes, maybe help DD tidy her room (again) and a spot of TV.

Gentle hugs for those living with depression, be it yourself or a family member. It's such a complicated illness. X

Morning.... Ok afternoon! I seem to have lost my guag! It's really hard to be motivated with kids at home and hubby 'working' from home ( he never does anything around the house anyway and then I get narked off that I am doing it all!)

    Anyway, my list for today,

    Food shop
    Dw
    Wm
Photos printed for thank you cards
    Hhi x 4

Tuesday Bathrooms and a bit of Everything Else
Have homes been found for all the presents? Try to get one thing out of the house for each thing in - new socks, get rid of the religious ones etc
Use up/decant any dribbles from shampoo etc, bin the empties to make space for Christmas smellies.
Declutter floors (especially the landing) not just into a box or binbag to hide away, try to put things where they belong, a home for everything will make life easier
Sweep/mop/hoover floors you can now see

    Extras
New year, New you, what would you like to learn to do this year (much more inspiring than the same old loosing weight and exercising) or take a leaf from Honeybear's wonderful book and plan to do a good deed this year
Update your Toot's list - how much did you achieve this year? What are your top 5 jobs for this coming year?

New Year's Eve - Kitchen and Dining Room
Wipe the table and work surfaces put everything away that shouldn't be there
    Sweep/mop/hoover floors
Wipe kickboards or legs of cupboards and tables

    Extras
Enjoy time with family/friends or some me time enjoying your own company

It clicked when watching the grandkids opening gifts and not really taking notice of what gift they had received as they went streight on to the unwrapping of the next one. Things are going to change.
You might want to think about about magazine or junior membership subscriptions (e.g. RSPB, WWF, National Geographic Kids) for next year - this website offers a wide range of titles. That way they'll get a present at a time when there's nothing else to unwrap. This year most of my grandchildren have had very small gifts from us, with a donation to their savings account for National Trust membership when they need it.

Declutter one cupboard think this will be the drinks cupboard - it is NYE after all :)
    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Glad you got your lie-in, Bossy.

    Today's plan:
    [STRIKE]- Shower
    - Dailies
    - Freeze beef casserole in portions[/STRIKE]
    - WM [STRIKE]x1[/STRIKE] x2 (but this will *not* generate any more ironing :D )
    [STRIKE]- Coffee[/STRIKE]
    - Lunch
    - Wander round the local garden centre with DH (who is still feeling grotty with his cold) and check that the tea room is still up to scratch ;)
    - Early evening meal
    - Hospital visiting 6.30-8.00
    - Fold and put away dry washing
    - Collapse on sofa for the rest of the evening. Might join DH in a whisky, but may not manage to stay up until midnight.
I doubt that I'll achieve anything else so no point in adding to this list!

Pleased to report that we have had bluetits, great t1ts, dunnock, robin and blackbird down to eat whenever the grey furry tree rat has let them get anywhere near the feeders.

Here's wishing everyone a good new year in every possible way. As I read your posts I am frequently reminded of the NOTW's slogan "All human life is there". You are a great bunch of friends: (((hugs))) to you all.
  • I got a bit sidetracked this morning - ended up rearranging all my under-work-surface cupboards, and cleaned the dishwasher filter and topped up with salt.

Two sections of worktop are clean and as clear as they're going to get, two look a mess still.

I haven't done the floor yet either.

Laundry done, one load in the dryer. No ironing to do from this lot as it's all nightwear.

I'm a bit cross as I've taken in parcels for two of the neighbours, but the delivery I'm waiting for hasn't arrived yet.

Hello, all applicable jobs on today's list are done. Turkey is in the oven. Crumble is half assembled. I'm about to finish another cuppa and piece of shortbread and will then walk the dogs before coming back and actually make the crumble.

And then, even though we are staying home tonight, I am going to get all dressed up as if we were going out for NY Eve, and the champers is already chilling.......
Spend less now, work less later.
