The weather was not very good, but with a few umbrella's my son BBQ'd on for us, and we all stayed in the tent. Not very many people came out of the 35 or more invited, which was a shame, but those who popped in had a great time, and I sat supping white wine and having a great chat with them all.
Today I took the day off, took Twin2, DS's GF and the Baby back to theirs in Silverstone this afternoon, popped into work to just check it's ok. Back tomorrow properly. My reception lady is going to Turkey tomorrow to join her son and his family, as her Tunisian holiday next month was cancelled.
Quiet evening at home tonight, no lessons, so I should be all refreshed and raring to go tomorrow. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Morning, from a very dull day here in Brackley. Although I set my alarm for 6 it was 7 really before I surfaced. I find the dark weather drags me down a bit and all I want to do is bury myself into the duvet.
DGD was up and in my room by 6.30!
Today She is booked into Holiday Club. So I can get to work and catch up. I have had a lot of time out in the last few weeks.
There are some deadlines to meet, and as our holiday looms, it means that we are trying to keep the clothes moving through a bit faster then normal, which is not so easy now as time has flown by.
Today my young sewer is in, she does the simpler jobs, and I have a ladies satin dress from scratch. Should be interesting. With my Reception lady taking a sudden holiday today, it means that we will have to stop sewing to serve and book jobs in and out.
Twin2 is at DS's, until tomorrow. She's going to help with DGD tomorrow, as the babysitter is unable to come.
As I will be on my own in the shop tomorrow, and I am teaching at 3pm it means I will have to close the shop an hour early to continue to teach. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I had a frustrating start to Saturday. I forgot that there was an event on at Silverstone, and I went to collect twin2 from DS's. It took me over an hour to get the 8 miles up the road, and then did a 17 mile detour to get back. So I was an hour late opening the shop. Thanks to messenger I was able to ask the shop lady next door to put a note on the shop for me.
In the last hour twin2 kept the shop open while I taught.
One pupil in the end! One cancellation and one no show!
Frustrating, but not uncommon.
We went down to the town's Beer Festival for a couple of hours, and I treated us to a takeaway on the way home. I was in bed by about 9pm. Shattered.
I have been awake on and off since 6.15 but been lazy and only been reading, meditating and had a good wallow in a bubble bath. The first time I have risked it since the itching problems. Hope I don't live to regret that!
While everyone is in Silverstone, going to pop to see my Mum, and twin2 wants to see Biggest of Mooloo's.
So I suppose I better get my act together and get us ready.
Oh and do some washing, and clearing up again. Somehow the bomb seems to have gone off again in most rooms of the house! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
This mornings Email from MFin3, has given me food for thought.
I have seriously taken my eye off the budget, and after years of not owing any money I've crept back into about £3,500 worth of debt.
The savings I had for DGD has stagnated, and my emergency funds depleted.
I've slowly but surely been bailing the kids out, after I'd said no more, and if my friend hadn't paid for our holiday, then we wouldn't be going.
The wages for the staff went out this morning, and that doesn't leave enough for the rent, a short fall of only £15, which we have in the safe, and can bank today, £165, but money is definitely slipping through my fingers again.
So I need to sort out a plan of action to stop the rot, and get back on track.
I was already worried about the rent etc still being met, when I return from two weeks off, and still all the same overheads, staff wages whether they work or not. I need to double check the laws, entitlements etc. As I definitely can't afford to be paying out unnecessarily.
My state of mind today, is mild panic, with rising hysteria, as I realise that I've slipped into bad habits, and taken my eye off the end line.
Eek! Double eek, I'm up on a tightrope, and I hadn't totally been conscious about stepping onto it at the start!
My brain is shouting, retrench, regroup, brainstorm, MindMaps, and cashflow charts. Urgent! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Yesterday, I looked at the work awaiting collection. £248 worth. So reminders to collect took up the first hour of the day.
I started the satin dress I have to make, but didn't get it finished. Had to order some zips etc so waiting for them.
Other makes are awaiting fabric. But on the whole the other sewing lady, and I are on top of the work, actually starting some of the smaller jobs that came in on Saturday. Bar a few more difficult suit alterations, which I need to tackle, we are working well and are turning things around faster, which means a few less in since schools closed. Which is to be expected.
Proms are all finished, weddings are still pinging in the enquiries, and several due in September. What amazes me is how many of the wedding party's are actually pregnant! so last minute alterations needed.
DS and his GF are still having money troubles. I went mad at them yesterday when I ended up raiding my cupboards and freezer for meals to last them till Friday.
I also said, this is the last bail out. They are now on their own. So I better stick to that!
I am too soft! I must do better! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
