Wow. It's been a good day. Although it didn't go to plan, I was there a little earlier and open so had two customers in before opening time.
I took in 17 jobs today!
I banked £185, at lunch time. There is £145 more to bank, and £57 on card machine due in soon.
I brought the book home, started on 17/6/15 and we are on ticket 98 today. Some tickets have several jobs on.
There are £350 odd jobs finished waiting to be paid, and some £560 ish ( can't remember off hand), jobs in to do this week.
I will be flat out, with work at home too as my other lady has on holiday for two weeks.
So I am thrilled it's going so well.
I was worried about having to pay rent and staff in August when I am shut, but if this all carries on for July, then I think we will get there.
Not a bad achievement for 1O months trading. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I'm still awake and I should have been asleep hours ago!
Brain won't switch off. On the plus side I caught up on recorded TV, upcycled 3 pairs of trousers, mended a top, and sorted out a bag of washing, and hung up a load of dry stuff.
Tomorrow and Tuesday I am in the shop on my own all day.
No staff available. Pre booked holiday for one sewer. Other sewer does her other job in the theatre, and shop assistant lady is looking after her family while a member is in hospital.
So I will be bringing home more work. Brought home 3 jobs yesterday, did them while watching the grand Prix.
Did an hour gardening first thing. So all in all I achieved something, and did my PAYE stuff. £511.25 HMRC bill to pay tomorrow, on top of the staff wages.
Looks like it's a good job I have £1,000 in one account and £595 in the other. Seems I am going to need it.
I wrote my letter back to the adoptive family this weekend and emailed it.
That was hard.
Chatted to Mum on Skype.

Hope the August shutdown is classed as part of the staff's annual leave and not as extra paid holiday.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
No it will definitely be part of the annual leave. I'm worried about it crippling me to be honest. But hopefully I worry unnecessarily.
I was interrupted so much yesterday, the day flew by, and when I wanted to leave early the gypsies arrived. So it was a mad dash to get DGD from afterschool club, feed her, (bacon, egg and beans), and get her to brownies.
I went back in to work to shorten the sleeves on a mans jacket. Which took me an hour, then I brought home 3 pairs of trousers to shorten, a skirt to hem, a dress to take in, and a shirt sleeves to change.
Which I did as soon as DGD went to bed.
It took me until around 10.30 to do. Then I had a milk shake and wound down for an hour before bed.
May have to do the same tonight to counter act the interruptions during the day. But have damaged the needle plate on the overlocker at home somehow? Don't know when, so need to contact janome and get a new one ASAP.
The itching is receding, but I do keep scratching the tops off the old damaged marks!! Not a good look.
Time to move as I need to get DGD hair washed. It was too late after brownies! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Another busy day. With new jobs in, and others collected. I did manage to get several jobs finished, and called people to collect. I had lots of enquires, several walk in fittings, including more travellers. A dress for the mother of the groom to alter which would not look out of place on a Strictly! Interesting.
I have brought some work home. But it's not imperative I do them, it would just take the pressure off of me.
I am quite tired, so we will see.
My reception lady can't make it tomorrow, she is still looking after her family. But my young girl is going to hold the fort for me as I need to go to Oxfordto collect that dress. I'm going to take my Mum along for the ride.
I need to get some threads and try and get some fabric for another order as well. If I can. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I don't recall what date in August you said you were closing for 2 weeks but would you need to get a sign up shortly stating the dates you are closed since it is only 24 days to the 1st of August? Would you also need to add the dates online so people are aware that you are closing for 2 weeks?0

We have signs up all around the shop. Also cards being handed out to all the regular customers. Although it's not on the website. I'm really not good on the website. I shall have to have a look at it.
I went to Oxford with Mum today, to collect a dress M & S were supposed to keep back for me. Except they lost it!
So it was a wasted journey. So annoyed with them. I paid wages for the shop to stay open. I had fuel costs and bus fare and lost time, all for nothing. And still no dress to give the customer. I'm waiting for an answer from M & S to see if they find my dress!!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Busy times, but we seem to be on top of the jobs, so I was happy to take the afternoon off to attend the school picnic with Dgd. Her Mum and Bf, arrived in time to join us, but the weather was too hot for Mum so they had to go back to my House and wait for us.
I followed them to the campsite, and helped him put up the tent etc. It was hot and thirsty work.
I am taking a rest, after a lovely cup if tea and a soak in the bath. Relaxing with peace and quiet and no little person to interrupt me.
I have been invited out to a birthday meal with one of the mums and her friends, which I am still not sure about. I don't know her very well, but was pleased to be asked. ( however I am tired and not very hungry, so not so sure about going.).

Sorry, been missing for a few days. I'm not well. Had to take the last two days off work due to sickness bug. I was completely wiped out yesterday and had to rely on another Mum to collect and take DGD to school for me.
I've stopped being sick now, thank goodness, but exhausted now.
Luckily the shop is still open and the staff are working.
Hopefully I will feel better and go in tomorrow.
I would have been off today anyway, although I had planned to take Mum shopping, and take some things over to Biggest of Mooloo's.
Mum will take a taxi. Daughter will have to wait.
Biggest is struggling in these final weeks of her pregnancy, the baby is leaning on her prolapsed discs, she is unable to feel her legs, and is on crutches.
My niece has been in similar bed rest with her pregnancy, but is now in hospital due to complications, so we may have a new baby to celebrate later today/tomorrow.
So as I'm exhausted there won't be much done today, I have day time TV on. ( strange watching TV, takes me back to when I was really ill several years ago!).
But today, nothing's going to be done, except a few cups of tea, maybe another slice of toast in a bit, but rest needed. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hi Mooloo, a thought just occurred to me today about your excessive and prolonged itching since having the cats at your house. Has your doctor ever suggested or investigated the possibility that you may have caught mites (sarcoptic) from the cats rather than this issue being caused by fleas? flea bites usually itch only on the site of the bite but an infection from sarcoptic mites (mange) would cause the type of itchy rash and blister spots all over the body that you've described here. It's worth a thought if no one else has previously mentioned it.0
