My local alterations shop has a notice saying they won't accept soiled clothes for alterations
Quite right, we've talked about this before. At home I wouldn't normally mend anything before it had been through the wash, as for expecting anyone else to do so ...
and they take a £5 deposit on every job so at least they have some funds in.
I think that's a very good idea, and depending on what the smallest charge is then £10 deposit might be reasonable.

I do have signs up about the items needing to be clean etc. Unfortunately it doesn't always get adhered too for several reasons. Some of that is because items are not always scrutinised, some times it's difficult to not offend a customer ( especially elderly who cannot see the dirt), and sometimes we are so busy. It's something I will have to be more insistant.

There is a minimum charge supposed to be in place, at £6.50 but I really can't enforce it when it's just a button that needs sewing on, or a zip pull to put back on. But I do need to be a bit better at doing those for " nothing" or a donation to the Air Ambulance.

One week till our holiday! So the first packing has been done. The little extras now need to be added.
The cases are going by courier on Wednesday.
The shop will close on Saturday for two weeks.
The DIY man s going to change over the sink etc for me while I'm away.
I have masses to do before the weekend.
    The pressure is now on.

Lost DGD's passport somewhere in the house I hope! But last week twin2 had the passports out, and now DGDs is missing. I've spent 4 1/2 hours searching for it. With no luck. I've gone through the place twice at least. Every drawer, cupboard, and shelf, every pile of paperwork, and between every book to no avail!
Why could they not put the dam thing back in the red passport folder it's always lived in!!! Grrrr
    Panic, stress, and exhausted now.
On the plus side I through out three carrier bags filled with paper and magazines! And the front room has been tidied and hoovered!

Please help ask the universe to show me where it is, or we won't be going on our holiday on Sunday. We need the details to confirm and print off our boarding passes. If I hadn't done that then we would not have known it was missing. I would have grabbed an empty wallet!!

You don't think twin2 has taken it, either by mistake or on purpose?

I have asked her. She says not. She wouldn't take it on purpose ( she's not DGD's Mum. She says she put it back. Which is why I took every book, magazine and piece of paper off each shelf, of each bookcase to look for it.
It was after midnight when I went to bed, and my dreams were full of searching for things and never finding them.
I woke with a tight chest, and feelings of panic if the truth be told.
I don't know where else to look.
Nobody else has been to the house since twin2 was here.
So I only have DGDs word that she herself didn't play with it.
She went to bed crying that she can't go on holiday. And I fear the same. After missing out on my last holiday, I'm not thrilled at that one. I'm already in desperate need of a break.
While here the jobs just pile up and up on me, and I am near exhaustion. Lack of good sleep and stresses about making payments over the next two weeks with no income is scaring me.

I need to calm down, I don't want another panic attack, and I certainly don't need a breakdown, and yet I feel the symptoms rising as I had before.
I don't have a magic wand to wave to make this one better.

    a) if someone is so pathetic that they can't sew their own button on (i.e. people like me) then yes you jolly well can charge £6.50: it's there choice whether to ask you to do it or not - it's not a government directive they have to comply with
    b) It's just a button missing in their life, not life saving surgery, so no, you don't have to offer it for less (or nothing!) just to show you're a 'nice' person. Nice people also need to eat/ earn a living.

I hope you find the passport- horrible feeling.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

    No sign of the passport.
I have searched for the last 4 hours again. Couldn't concerntrate at work so came home.
I am now at a total loss, as nowhere else I can look!
I have turned DGDs room over, I've turned the front room over more times then I can count. Looks like I won't get my holiday this year. Bags were due to be sent tomorrow. Paid £129 for that, and didn't take out an insurance on cancelation as I only just booked it. Now I don't know wether to let the bags go just incase a miracle happens. There is no procedure for a one day passport turn around for a child.
And I can't leave her behind!

What about Twin1? Could she have taken it when she was up camping?

I came back in to work this afternoon, and there is a parcel for me!
Four lovely framed sewing related posters. With no note etc. So they are a total mystery!
A lovely surprise, but I have no idea who to thank for them!
So if it's someone from here a Huge big Thankyou, especially on such a bad day!

No, she was up the week before. It was seen last week.
