I'm not sleeping very well. Very weird dreams, waking up, then back to more weird dreams. Although I had a late cup of tea so I woke for the loo at least 3 times.
Aimed to wake at 6.30 but it was 6.37
Made my morning cuppa here in the bedroom, then I'm off for a quick shower before taking DGD to her breakfast club.
Text DS to ask how they were last night, but no reply.
He was here at some point yesterday as the coffee was out. ( he's the only one who drinks coffee and has a key).
Least I know he's alive!
Breakfast Club for DGD, 1/2 day for me, so I can do a bit of decluttering and ironing this afternoon. Evening course doesn't start until next week, so some time with DGD afterschool.
The bank balance is rather low, so hopefully we will promote some of my makes and try and sell them alongside the alterations.
Have a good day. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
As usual my day didn't go to plan. Nothing new ofcourse. DGD was not withit getting up and we were 20 minutes behind schedule. I did get to work early, ( forgot my own breakfast). I did finish the set of 4 cushion covers - they are now for sale in the shop window.
My assistant couldn't make it she was not well. (Which I expected). I doubt she will be well for at least a week, so it meant minor interruptions when people came in. It was reasonably quiet, and I was only open till 12 anyway.
Then I walked up the street to do some birthday present shopping, and trying to keep it local.
After some lunch I had an hours sleep/rest. I was so tired. Then collected DGD. Fatal sat down with a cup of tea, and the jobs didn't get done!
I made toad in the hole for tea. DGD then decided to take her drink into the sitting room and somehow knocked it into my box of paperwork! Black currant and lemonade over everything. Lease documents, receipts etc.
So my paperwork is a whole pile of paper interspaced with kitchen paper hopefully to blot it all while it dries. Fingers crossed.
I got into TV, watched Midsummer Murders while faffing about on the internet etc.
So the ironing didn't get done.
DGD had new trousers on, that were a bit long so they were tucked into her boots, but one leg came out and she didn't notice and she has made a mess of the hem. A whole in it from walking on it, as well as mud and water up to the knee. My fault for not trying them on the night before and shortening them.
DS did message back that he was ok last night, but then rang asking for his bike breakdown cover info, as his alternator has gone, and the battery is flat. He was on his way to his sisters at the time.
I couldn't help him other then to say where is bought it. I hope he got sorted. He really needs more good luck at the moment.
Right, tea finished, emails read, here's updated. Time to crack on with my day. Hopefully it will be a better one. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well today was a little quiet. Although I did have several jobs come in. But my lady is ill, so I spent some time at the start of the day ironing and tagging some second hand clothes as I need to update my stock.
Had a meeting with another lady that sells secondhand in The next town. May work in conjunction with her. We will talk further.
Then the last hour I stopped alterations and made 3 tote bags for my stock.
DGD is rather miffed that it's eating at the table squashed into the kitchen, and then we had to do Bugclub on the laptop before she could use my kindle.
I did omelettes and chips for tea. Quick and simple.
Some of the sofa covers are dry now, so what a wrestling match to get them back on to the cushion pads!
Time to actually look at my Ironing and attack it!!
Yuck but as I ironed at work I ought to do it at home and use my new board and iron I got for christmas. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I never did do the ironing! Got side tracked and before I knew it it was bedtime.
DS has managed to get the deposit refunded.. ( to him though), but estate agents rang me first. The alternator has gone on his bike, so I told him to use a bit of it to get the bike fixed but not to waste it.
I know they don't have a bean to rub together, she seems to have dropped out of work now, and his hours were reduced before Christmas.
The council are paying for the travel lodge, and trying to find them accommodation. I hope it's soon.
Biggest can't keep their cats, the landlady has complained so it looks like I will be having two cats any day now. Until they either find a good home, or move house. Least I know if I go away they would gave to look after them! ( not that I am going anywhere anytime soon-)
I am feeling very lucky, as a friend from here, came into the shop yesterday and gave me some sewing books and fabric they no longer needed. The fabric includes some fleece, ideal for making DGD a new dressing gown, and another follower has also offered me a sewing book!
Now I need time to make her dressingown, as well as the thermal bags that are on order.
Today I am on my own at the shop so it won't be today. I also need to clear the workshop ( dumping ground) ready for tomorrow's course!
Right time to launch into the day proper. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I don't feel too good. Neck really hurts.
Not much money in the tills yet, but more jobs in through the door to keep me busy.
Finally got the thermal bag cut out and ready to assemble.
Asked DS to pay me back the deposit money. Hopefully he will sort it.
Staff came in today, which was a relief. All shop shape again ready for tomorrow's workshop.
Looking forward to my brother coming over from France this weekend. Hope to see him on Monday, he wants to come and see the shop.
Think I'm going to go and get ready for bed, and get some heat on my neck! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Today DS is 22.
My Brother has arrived back in the uk. Said they were stopped 3 times and the can searched, as they were coming from France.
They are coming to see me tomorrow.
The shop has been very quiet this week, but I do have about £200 worth of work in to do at the start of the week.
It did give me time to do some making after the course yesterday, and start to do some stock taking.
Finally made the thermal bag, just need to fill it today and can post it tomorrow.
The neck is still very tight. Which is affecting my arm. So I need to book another massage.
Shall take it easy today, and try and get heat on to the neck. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well school uniform washed. Sofa cover changed when friend was here to help, also window in shed refitted, and my bike tyres pumped up. So bike is now chained up in the shed with DGDs
Roast lamb cooked, but ate with some ratatouille rather then Sunday traditional veg.
Thermal bag filled and ready to go tomorrow.
DGD went to messy church in the afternoon.
Spent evening reviewing my goals, and working on my todo lists, menu plan and shopping List.
Now I'm having an early night. Heat pad at the ready!
Hopefully tomorrow will be betterWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Morning, it's cold.and that's just sitting up in bed. I've had a cup of tea, using my trusty travel kettle, I've accessed the banking to see that I am on track.
I've checked my emails, and now there are no more excuses I need to get out of bed and go put the heating on!
Excited that I get to show my brother and partner the shop for the first time.
Having a wardrobe crisis moment though, haven't a clue what to wear , hate days like that! Lately I keep ending up in black, or black and white. I miss my brightly coloured summer things, but the shop is too draughty! It needs some TLC on the gaps around the doors and windows!
I'm dreading doing the electric reading, with blow heaters and storage heaters on all the time!
Right nearly 7am I better move or I will be stressing at DGD if we are late for school and it will be my fault not hers. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Evening, been a reasonably good day. Finally took some money. Only £65, but I hadn't had much last week at all.
My brother and his partner came to see me, any a couple of bags of goodies for me to upcycle, or resale.
They really liked my little shop.
The post brought a lovely book from a MSE follower, Thankyou, it's lovely, and no mend shirts will be safe in my grasp!
Shopping list was only a few things, so I went to the Tesco express. Loaf of bread down to 78p. Price wars are on then.
But I'm sad though that the milk farmers are going out of business. I want to support them but don't know how?
DGD had a sandwich for evening meal as she had hot school dinners, so I had heated up left overs from last nights, so quick and easy.
I have a few sewing jobs to do at home tonight, my own mending pile! And a school jacket for one of the staff at after school club.
Her sons school blazer needs to be repaired for the morning. What do kids do to their uniforms? Wrecked. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
It was a better day, although peppered with drama, as in the middle of the night DS's GF was unwell and biggest had to take her to hospital. She has a UTI in the end, is on anti biotics. I was going to collect her when she messaged me, but in the end my Dad went as he was free and nearer, and I had plenty of work in.
I'm now back up to capacity for the next few days. Takings were £122. So people are finally coming to collect their stuff.
The thermal bag was finally posted to Canada. I needed to fill the car with fuel as I was on empty. I need to be on standby incase we have any further dramas as the kids don't have transport with the bike off the road again( and she's too pregnant really to be on it), and they are in the travel lodge with no access to a kitchen etc.
I spoke to twin 1's Social Worker, except she is no longer her worker. The case has been passed on. That will be interesting, to see what their next move is over the pregnancy and support packages for twin1.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
