Thanks to GP's inspiration I've been working on using up my aduki beans and mung beans.
Yesterday I substituted aduki beans for the kidney beans in Madhur Jaffrey's Natal Kidney Bean Curry. The texture is different to when it is made with kidney beans (not so soft), but it's a mild, comforting curry for a winter's evening and warmed me up nicely as the frost arrived last night!0 -
Good Morning :hello:
Ah! Very easy to beat me out of bed this morn'We have been the sloths of slothshire and lolled for a significant proportion of the morning
We were chatting as we lolled, but the chores are still waiting for us to attend to 'em
We had a 'farm Kings' catch up fest off the recorder last night, so I've done the whole vegetable season in one sitting!Makes a bit of space again on the recorder. I'm not too sure how many episodes FN have bought of this series. I reckon we've watched 10 episodes. It's not too bad, and at least they don't do a recap just before you go into an ad break and just after you have come back from one - so there is some actual content to watch!
Jack's risotto was nice. I added in the whole punnet of mushrooms, as they were YS'd and needed using. But everything else is as per recipe. The rice was the half-price stuff from Lidl (couple of months ago). A nice and economical dish however you cook itIt is, however, no 'looker'
Picture here;
Dinner tonight will be curry, and I may just add in a portion of greenbee's suggested curry (Thanks greenbee) - as I have some cooked mung beans in the freezer, so it would be no hassle to russle up a quick extra curry.
Right, best go and get a cup of coffee and decide what we can constructively do with the rest of the day
Thanks everso for popping in, reading and commenting. Mucho appreciated. As always.
See y'all later.

Oh do judi - I too had only ever made mushroom risotto with white wine, but I did a mini-challenge to myself one month last year to make as many recipes as I could/liked the look of in Jack's book. This was one of them, and it was so lush that it was definitely a keeper. Definitely works well with the red wine
We've just been out and about, doing some chores, so we popped into FarmF00ds for a couple of bits. I noticed that they have dropped the price on some of their packs of frozen veggies - which might be of interest if a) you have a FF nearby, and b) you eat frozen veggies. They had the following for 59p for a 750g bag;
mixed veg (eg carrots, green beans, peas in a pre-mix)
cut leeks
casserole veg
julienne carrots
baby carrots
diced swede
garden peas
Brussels sprouts
sliced cabbage
sliced onion
I know that the pack size is different to most supermarkets/1celand, but I think these are a pretty good price. The leeks are a good product (used them before) and last time they cost me 79p for 750g, so a definite price reduction. The bags are FF's own brand.
HTH someone.......
