When did they remove the Connect branding?

My Aug 2009-issued black 'Premier' card says Connect on it and also has the contactless symbol, not that I've actually found anywhere that actually uses this....

I only use it in the Staff Canteen! I've seen terminals in Boots (not working) and on Stagecoach buses though.

They removed the Connect branding sometime this year.

Ah, now we can restart the discussion I had with the Barclays Call Centre. It is a Barclays Premier Card, gold in colour. A Charge Card with an annual fee. Barclaycard do handle the administration nowadays but it is most certainly not a credit card. Some confusion within Barclays now that they also have another Barclays Premier Card which is a debit card and the original Barclays Premier Charge Card has a number similar to a Barclaycard Credit Card!!

It's not something I've dealt with myself in the four years I've worked there. There is a Barclays Premier debit card AND credit card being offered at the moment though.

Perhaps it would be better to say cards starting 4929 are Barclaycard credit/charge cards. They are not connected to Barclays Bank. I think you can only get a charge card through Barclaycard Commercial now.

I think it's an anomalous situation with them now. It's called a Barclays Premier Card. The bumph on the back calls it a Barclays Charge card and the postal address is Barclays Bank, PO Box 54, Northampton NN4 7SF. Bills are headed 'Barclays Premier Card'. There's no mention of Barclaycard anywhere, not on the card, not on any correspondence and not in the Terms & Conditions. It confers an advantageous overdraft facility on my Current Account and I can make massive cash withdrawals (on the card) at branches if I have a mind to. The overdraft facility is renewed annually and is always referred to as a 'Barclays Premier Card' overdraft. If it's a Barclaycard it's definitely sailing under very false colours!
If Barclays eventually decide to shut down these cards I'll have no problem with that, but I can't think mine is the only one still around. It gets automatically replaced every three years. Obviously carries some rarity value nowadays especially when Barclays employees claim I shouldn't have it because I don't have a Premier current account! The fees on them vastly exceed the fees on the Premier Charge Card.
I dare say the marketing people could dream up something like 'Legacy Premier' or 'Premier Original' if they had a mind to.

Definitely a rarity, as I said before I have not heard of this card in the four years I have worked there. When did you first get the card?

I know Barclaycard's main office is in Northampton. Very strange! Will have to investigate this further ;)

I've had it since about 1990. I was 'pre-approved' for it at the time and applied. It carried a lot more benefits then than it does now, Airport Lounges, Travel Insurance, free storage of documents etc. There's probably still some but I haven't checked lately.
