Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi Sazzie
thank you. I have in the short while I have been doing this also found someone's freedom pass (& sent it back via freepost ) & another person's contact less bank card. I handed that into tesco nearby as thinking logically they may have gone into the nearest big shop to ask. Anyway my point is I wouldn't have found either if I hadn't been looking around for change etc.

Following your thread - I too 'womble' but living in a rural location its not very often as there is very little in the way of discarded till receipts - although plenty of discarded litter thrown from 'tourists' - I am always picking it up but wont be checking for Mc Beans cos I have never been in the place nor do I intend to! The nearest largish village has a little T*sco outlet with self serve tills and I often gather up the left behind receipts to check for points ;) I have noticed in the massive T*sco in The Town they are very quick to remove these before wombles can get hold of them ...........unless its the night shift:rotfl:

Today's efforts turned up 2 more mcdonalds cups with beans. I now have enough for a free coffee tommorow & haven't bought any Mcdonalds coffee to get it.
    Also found 2p roadkill today.

    Hello there
Love your user name. From the kids cartoon?
Yes I have a love hate relationship with mcdonalds. I didn't step foot in there for about 15 years then having had a small person I found that our options for somewhere cheap & easy that you can comfortably take children were so slim it sort of fell onto our radar. We probably go once a month for burgers. It most definately doesn't tick any gourmet boxes but I don't see it as any worse than any other fast food restaurant now. Plus I have a stash of half price coupons that they give you on your bus tickets so it's very cheap indeed. Their coffee is average but when something is free...
My wombling life began when our car died in August & I started walking up to 10 miles a day. You just notice things. I must admit Jeff Yeager has also influenced me on roadkill.
good luck with your finds :)
    Bob

You will never sell Mc D to me Bob :rotfl: We must have been the meanest parents in the world when ours where little........they went for the occasional school friend's birthday party only. Now in their early 20's and late teens they make their own choices.......neither opt for the Golden Arches or similar come to think of it.

Oh that is fascinating never knew that!

I don't think you were mean. I am surprised we have ended up as mcdonalds customers tbh. When money was more plentiful I'd have laughed at the suggestion. But for now it serves a purpose. It gives us 45 mins of being together, colouring in, playing with the happy meal toy & not being at home! But I hope the broader education I provide on food gives my son the bigger picture (we bake together, grow some basic veggies most years) it all has a place.

  • Wish I could join in with this as it sounds like fun looking out for un-claimed till receipts when out on a walk.

I live in deepest rural Dorset and the only thing I find on a walk is horse or dog poop _pale_

Will check in occasionally though to see how you are getting on. Looks like it could really add up after a few months.

Thanks Steph. Hummmm countryside wombles I will think of something I'm sure.
You must do well on free food at certain times of the year? Even we do here when it's blackberry season. And we get free apples and pears too from neighbours with too much.
