    Well done, f0xh0les!

Bobarella, they also threw away croissants, pain au chocolat, pecan rolls.... I'd happily have taken them home, frozen them, and fed them to my family for several breakfasts.

Great result Muhren! Boo to Traffic Wardens...

Siebrie - I too would mourn the loss of cheese. Such waste :(

Loving your post tonight Foxholes - you master bargain hunter :T I am never going to be on that level. All I managed today was to win a bottle of red wine and mulling spices at Small's Christmas play with my lucky numbered programme. I had already paid £3 for raffle tickets that weren't lucky, so not sure if I sort of paid for the wine? Anyway, not much else to report. Still paddling...

Just realised yet again the smalls had demolished the contents of the breadbin and C00P closes at 10pm, so ran up the road, and there they were, packs of sesame bagels and thins and thick toastie loaves and bags of casserole veg, all down to 10p, and a girl with a plastic bag about to sweep them all up and put them in the bin. Two bags full of groceries for 99p (for some reason New York bagels were 9p!).
Today the bargain fairy was firmly perched on my shoulder.

Good job too, MOT and service on my car next week.

Got a sample of a Ariel 3 in 1 capsule through the post. It works really well. Also got a free sample of Green Bottle tonic water with my Tesco online grocery shop

Picked up £1.80 in change that someone had carelessly left in the self service till draw today. Kerching to the roadkill :)

Also collected my Emma diary pack for new mums (and recycled ones;) ) which had 1 nappy, & 2 samples of washing powder. Plus other less useful items. Horray!

  • Congratulations to all your wombling triumphs. I haven't had any wombles recently as I have been hiding under the duvet in zzzz land during the day and been working all through the night. Boo indeed Bob to these shifts. 8 more to go and I will be night shift free come January. Can't wait!

Ps, I found an interesting email from my manager asking me to help out in their rota even after I've moved on to my new job (eg some weekends days or nights). It would mean overtime (on top of my 9-5 Mon-Fri) and would be a big help in upping my emergency funds, but I can't decide whether to completely turn over a new leaf or use the opportunity to earn some extra needed cash. (Some of my colleagues and friends think once I do it once they'd keep on asking and I'd find myself overworking and over stressed again.). What would you do if you were in my shoes?

    Hi TOG

It all comes down to how much you need the money, what plans you have for up coming weekends, and how forcefully you can say no when you feel you no longer need to work a 7 day week/ get stressed and sick of it.

Maybe you can make them understand you would help out if nobody else was available but not to count on you as a regular for the long term ? If you know they are going to take the p before you agree to it, I will hand you the spade so you can start digging........:rotfl:

  • I am in a similar situation at the moment Only Girl, but you just have to make sure that it works for you. For me it averages about an extra 2 days a month but over the festive period my new job shuts down for 11 days so I have scooped up all the bank holidays that I wanted at the old job whilst making sure I have enough 'down time' as it were. My old boss knows my new shift pattern and asks about extras in good time. I politely made it known that the new job takes priority but that i'm happy to help if I can manage but that they shouldn't rely on me!

Re: wombling. All year lurker here, looking forward to Jan 1st so I can count up my 2015 roadkill jar!
May you all have a fruitful festive period! :D

TOG - I agree with Foxholes that it's a good thing so long as it suits you as well. Don't let them think you will do every hour they need covered.
I'm no stranger to the 7 day week straight into another regular week and it's hard work in the long run. But the money thing is always very hard to ignore..

    Hello Green goblin
Loving you user name. Thanks for delurking too. Looking forward to you joining us in the new year.
