Expensive ones.
The likes of FedEx will refund you through their money back guarantee if the delivery fails due to something within their control.
e.g. Customs delays/inspections = no refund. Put on wrong plane by handler = refund.
For UK domestic Royal Mail special delivery by XX time is guaranteed.0 -

But surely if there is something in the T&C's stating that a refund will be given if it's not a next day delivery as paid for then by definition it can't be a guaranteed next day delivery service and instead it becomes what custardy referred to as "The intention of next day delivery. Not guaranteed"
The majority of Prime deliveries are shown as next day delivery and if this doesn't happen then you can get the delivery charges refunded the same as RM or FedEx next day delivery.0 -
If you are the delivery service's customer (ie. you are the one paying them) you can be compensated if they deliver late.
If you pay for 'next day delivery' and they don't you complain and ask for compensation.
Once I even did that to Royal Mail who had taken 3 days to deliver a 1st class signed-for letter (got 6 1st-class stamps as compensation).0 -

The retailer and the courier are two different components in the contract.
The retailer has to get the package to the courier by the deadline, if they fail to pick, pack and dispatch in time then this is their fault.
The courier guarantees to deliver the package next day based on the retailer handing over the package before the agreed deadline. The courier guarantees this part of their service as its the remit they have control over. If the courier fails to deliver their side of the contract, due to circumstances within their control then they guarantee to refund your money. That is the guarantee.
Fundamentally the service is next day delivery from the point of dispatch not order.
Prime adds a month to your account if they fail to deliver next day if you were advised by the count down timer on amazon that next day was still available.
Amazon are unlikely to be refunded by the carrier in all but the rarest of circumstances due to the volume discount they receive. Amazon would, like other huge logistics users not be bothered on an individual basis if items are late - its simply the size of the business that makes it more hassle for Amazon than its worth.0 -
Yes,but you miss my point. Amazon dont market Prime as a next day service. They may hint at it,but they dont guarantee it.
Eg unless those 2 items were Special Delivery from RM,they may not have turned up on the 24th.
All our Amazon are delivered as priority Next Day regardless of whether they're Prime or not.0 -

Agreed!!
NEXT promised that everything ordered by 11pm on 23rd would be delivered before Xmas. But they failed to get the orders to courier on time so they still haven't been delivered. Expecting epic NEXT orders in the depot tomorrow morning!
But, as usual, the couriers will get the blame rather than the retailers!0 -

In defence of the driver, he may have just found out he was going to lose his job.

Their are always far more satisfied customers than those banging on like the majority of posters here who probably went for the cheapest option possible.
The posters here are largely the intended recipients of parcels and are unlikely to have had any say in the choice of courier.
The whole situation is something that needs to be solved for the continued expansion of mail order shopping.0 -
