Almost 8 years on this site. :wall:

Is assumed the OP was a naive 20 year old taking their first big trip on their own - according to their profile they're 51!

Just curious as to how one finds the age from a profile ???

I would doubt it, as they have already had the OP's money.

I have been in touch with hoodaki to try change the flight to a couple of days but they want me to pay another £1200 on top of the £1700 i have paid already. Is there anything i can do about this i am gutted i'm going to lose all my money and holiday
Did you get in touch with a the agent before or after the original flight time and have you actually paid to change the flight?
If you did not contact them until after the flight time it is likely you will be flagged by the airline as a no-show and your current ticket will now be void (the return would have been cancelled when you did not board the outbound flight) so it is likely that the £1,200 is the cost of a new ticket as there is no value in the other one
Without a doctor declaring you unfit to fly it is unlikely insurance would pay for this

I took my insurance out on the 19th of december i had been ill with flu prior to that, but got better. Then the day before my holiday i got ill again so went to the doctors and she said i had picked up another bug while getting over the first one. I just could'nt bare to travel all that way to Thailand feeling like crap.

    Now they have

Has the date already passed? Did you actually cancel the flight?
Dependent on the ticket conditions, you can often change the outbound date....especially as it does not look a cheap ticket.
When did you actually buy the flight?

The simple facts are,.the insurance was taken out after the first illness,
you may think the insurance was taken out specifcally to make a claim as the op had decided they no longer wanted to go.
Taking out insurance about a week before is very suspicious
    Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!

That's why I asked as to when they booked the flight. Silence on that so far.
