Hi i cancelled my flight to thailand yesterday because i was too ill to travel. I was flying with qatar airways but booked through hoodaki. I have been in touch with hoodaki to try change the flight to a couple of days but they want me to pay another £1200 on top of the £1700 i have paid already. Is there anything i can do about this i am gutted i'm going to lose all my money and holiday

travel insurance will get most of the money back. You did have insurance didn't you? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Good luck on that, I would say you are unlikely to be successful, your insurance will have T's and C's. Was your illness already diagnosed by a doctor or waiting to be?i cancelled the insurance not realising i could make a claim but soon as i did realise i rang them and told them, also in the email they sent saying if i didn't want to cancel to let them know, i sent one back saying i made a misake i wanted to claim not cancel and i filled a claim form in ( have i shot myself in the foot now )0 -
i had been to the doctors and got diagnosed with flu but was feeling better then yesterday felt ill again so went back to the doctors and she said i had picked up another bug and a urine infection which was making me feel worse. I did ring the insurance people up and explained i didn't want to cancel my policy but on the website it has a line through the insurance now. The woman i spoke to said they had to ring me to confirm the cancellation but don't know now. Looks like i will end up losing all of it. Thanks for your help though0

I'd check, because if you have a pre-diagnosed illness, it will void your insurance.0

will it void it for having flu ?0

Well it was pre-diagnosed, so yes, as were the other illnesses.0

Was this some kind of last minute booking? Usually, to cancel insurance, it should be within 14 days of purchase. Otherwise what benefit was there to cancel it?0
