Evening everyone, we had a lovely day today for DD1s birthday, DD2 came over with little man, DD1 loved her present off of me, it felt nice knowing it was bought in the sales of Thomas Sabo in january. Oh blimey there is cake everywhere, hopefully DD1 will take most of it into work tomorrow!
FEISTY thankyou, hope you have had a fairly stress free weekend
NEWTHRIFT thankyou, you must feel like each month is just disappearing faster and faster and its all getting nearer and nearer
IRISHROSE your mothers day sounds grand! Can i ask what you actually do on St Patricks day to celebrate? And did you say the schools close for a few days as well? It sounds very exciting#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0 -
Thanks freespirit, we've realised we are probably going to need to rent as we missed out on our second shared ownership house yesterday
Our estate agent has said he will make it clear we need at least 3 weeks notice on exchange to find somewhere, but it still feels like a tall order![/COLOR]2024 Challenges

All Catholic schools are off for St. Patrick's Day. It;s a Bank HolidayState schools (protestant) are in school - not sure if it's a full day or half day. Special Needs schools and Integrated schools are in for half a day.
There was strike action here on Friday though, so that's why were were off on Friday, otherwise we would have been in school and because yesterday was a Monday the school I work in, and my children's schools decided to take yesterday as a holiday:T
St. Patrick's Day for us is pretty traditional.
Go to 10am Mass
We all have at least on item of clothing that is green, and of course have our St.Patrick's Day badge on.
We then head out somewhere - this year is the city centre for a St. Patrick's Day Parade and then back to the local youth club for a fun day for the kids.
This year our local bar is also having a fun evening from 4pm - 7.30pm for kids and adults to enjoy the festivities so we're heading there too. I may have a sneaky drink or two...... would be rude not to :rotfl: and then we'll be home and kids in bed for 8.30 for school and work in the morning.Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -
This hymn is sung every year in mass too. And you'll hear it out and about too once the drink takes effect and the Irish songs have gotten mixed up:rotfl::beer: Kids have been singing it non-stop for the past 2 weeks as they've been learning it in school. Getting a wee bit annoying now

FEISTY oh sorry you missed out again, keep your chin up it will all eventually fall into place for you both
IRISHROSE I hope you have all had a wonderful day, oh thanks for the info that is really interesting, i have always thought St Patricks Day was an Irish celebration full stop, i didnt realise it was more of a Catholic celebration, so the Bank Holiday is it just for Catholics? Oh i love how you celebrate it having fun with all the family, i have never heard that song, aah bless all the kids singing it they must get so excited. Thankyou for that, we dont do anything to celebrate St Georges Day, a shame to not have traditions for that
CHRISSY ha i have put a couple of items on my wish list never mind my girls :rotfl::rotfl:#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0 -

Ahhh, memories! Don't understand why the Irish was monitored, I know what you wrote, but those that don't understand Irish won't have a clue what the ! are replacing.
We used to go to the local parade, when we were young, local one in morning and then off to grandparents and see their local one in the afternoon.
BUT, you forgot the most important thing about the day - it is a free day during Lent, so my nephews & niece were thrilled to be able to eat sweets on the day as they have given them up for LentA smile costs little but creates much0
