Mrs Honey Badger - Hope that all went well with the scan. Peacock theme sounds great
Teal type colours are my favourite.
ChrissyG - I have a handheld steamer too - they are great and I too get excited about things that others might consider mundane. Sometimes I put practical stuff on my Christmas list that I'm sure people think are really boring.
Free- Sounds like you've got loads ticked off your list againI did have a word document that I added prices to of everything I bought and had a running total. I'm now tempted to live in ignorance and forget it so I can't see the total damage.
Welcome to the festive madness Pixie
ellie - Me and OH have a budget of £70 which I've been mostly good with but must admit I've exceeded by £5. Is it really only 8 weeks? Not long at all now
Moneymission - I think I get overexcited when I see little extra bits and then all of these 'extras' soon add up very quickly. I'm the same as you, my next payday is Nov 1st and then another on Dec 1st so quite far from Christmas day. Hopefully I will have everything sorted by then though. Although, I always end up doing extra socialising in December that uses up lots of money.0 -
Thanks for all your lovely words as usual, I felt much better in the morning and my mum and auntie stayed last night which was nice. DH should get home around 11pm tonight, he'll be shattered as he's been in all day meetings yesterday and today (8-6) and he had to go out for a meal with everyone last night as well as all of the travelling. Think i'll give him a lie-in in the morning!
04624181 I hope your appointment at the clinic went well and was useful to you. I love the sound of the bag of goodies on the table Christmas day. I hosted Christmas for the first time last year, I didn't have table presents as I made crackers with scratchcards in etc, but when I next host i'll definitely be doing it!
Peppapig I got my scratchcards from ASDA, they had £5, £2 and £1 ones. They had quite a few different ones. Although I realised I was one short so had a look on the Tesco website and I can add them to my online shop so i've done that, they had all the Christmassy ones.
freespirit oooh what activities have you got planned? I'd like to do something like that. I'm sure you posted a pic of your hot chocolate station last time and it was great. I'm planning to do one this year but I wasn't sure when, originally I was thinking from the beginning of December but really it would be good from when it gets cold wouldn't it? Perhaps i'll do mine soon!
Mrs-moneypenny Your cross stitch is wonderful, I bet it was lovely stitching such a festive design. I love cross stitch, it's one of my favourite hobbies. It's great when you add backstitch to a project as it really brings it to life. I need to get a move on though as i'm stitching something for my parents for Christmas and i'm in danger of not finishing it at this rate! I've got a lovely pattern for 'The Snowman' which i'm going to stitch to hang in my house next Christmas.
ellie Oh I hope your car gets fixed soon! I started on Pinterest when I was planning my wedding, if you look up Christmas you'll spend all your time on there! It's fab and there are so many wonderful ideas on there! Great for us Christmas nuts!
MoneyMission Glad to hear you got your assignment in, these can be stressful enough let alone when you lose a day!
Mrs Honey Badger I hope the results are ok for you and please don't feel guilty, you should be proud of yourself for coming through a horrible time like that. I'm sure it is very emotional so be kind to yourself.
CHRISSYG I bought a steamer ages ago and I still haven't used it on my oven, and Lord knows it needs it!
kaya How annoying about that book, I never know what to trust when buying secondhand ones as people have such different ideas of what is 'good' condition.
murie oh aren't most men like that?!Perhaps this time off will be good for him to have a little break.
fiesty I'm so glad to hear everything is going well with the baby, that must be a relief. I'm afraid I don't know much about Love 2 Shop vouchers so can't help unfortunately.
Hello and Welcome Pixie Fairydust and cbsexec - don't lurk join us!
DH's stocking is now nearly finished, I got a £5 scratchcard to go in it and i've seen a mini Henry hoover that cleans tablet screens so I thought that would be good to go in for his ipad.0 -
Eeek sorry for such a long post above!
ellie I meant to say thanks for that article, it's so funny isn't it, if only they knew how many of us are out here! They don't understand us and we don't understand them! I really enjoy picking bits up in the January sales and buying throughout the year and updating my spreadsheet as I go. I think there are lots of people out there that just aren't that bothered. I met up with two friends the other day and we were wandering around the town with lots of Christmas displays and they were moaning about it all and saying they hated Christmas! I was like  are you my friends?! I carried on being my jolly Christmas nut self and squealing at everthing! :snow_grin
Edit: word of warning - don't read the comments below the article! They'll make you mad! One person said these people should 'get a life'. I believe doing this makes us all happy so why shouldn't we? It's not hurting anyone and we're not forcing anyone else to do it. Also, if someone's got the time to write a comment like that under an online article then I think THEY need to get the life!!! Oooh don't know what came over me then...0 -
:rotfl::rotfl:PrincessKitty you're getting all riled up! lol you tell them! I agree, I skimmed over the comments and it's the usual 'too early for christmas' scroogy-ness, I just ignore them and think you don't even know what you're missing! We're not hurting anyone so each to their own
and I think if I went down the Pinterest/ Christmas route my house would end up like Santa's grotto and I would have my phone permanently attached to my hand lol
I'm dreaming... of a white Christmas :snow_grin :xmassmile:rudolf:0 -
Princesskitty, your little rant did make me laugh : )
I didn't read the comments but I totally agree with you, we don't force our craziness on others and it makes us happy so I don't see why anybody should have a problem. Plus we're the ones that can sit back & relax in December and also not be worried about money in December and January because we've been planning ahead & can just enjoy Christmas instead of stressing about everything.
Anyway, I couldn't give a monkeys if somebody thinks I'm mad. I love Christmas, it makes me happy & makes my family happy, so anything I can do to make it even more special is fine by me.0 -
Back from our last week at the caravan for this year.
Lots to catch up on (still on page 137) but just wanted to say sorry for your loss Manco xx
Will hopefully post tonight, once I've caught upIt's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
Hi all
I have just managed to purchase a load of Body shop stuff for my hubby for his birthday and Christmas using the following codes - 14322 and 14664 together gave me a basket worth £40 for £24 with delivery free. Well pleased. I also went through quidco so should get 10% cashback too.

Thanks for making me feel welcome
I am looking for some outdoor lights to put on a small tree. I would like them on a timer and to use a battery rather than having leads through windows! Has anyone seen any? Someone at work mentioned QVC but I've never bought anything from there.
I also need another elf for elf on the shelf, my DGD1 has a green one that appeared last year, now we need one for her little sister. I did have a quick look on £bay but couldn't see anything suitable.
I also need a few "reasonably priced " ideas for my DGD2 aged 18 months at Christmas. She has lots of toys and I'm struggling apart from getting her some clothes! Any ideas would be great, thanks.
Ok, I'm off to babysit now, my daughter is off to a haunted house Halloween thing!
Have a good Friday night everyone
Pix

.
Chrissy - do you mind me asking which one you bought? I've had steamers in the past but wasn't very impressed with them but my oven could really do with a deep clean plus I'd like to use one on my bathroom tiles etc as I think they could do with it.[/QUOTE]
I got the Vax S4 1200W Grime Master from Very its currently on offer for £24
I really wasn't looking forward to today as i had to return a faulty hoover to currys andw as expecting a fight but i didn't get one , they were really good and we ended up with a new dyson instead of the Shark one.
I was very excited as we drove into the retail park they have their christmas tree up:j.
