Sorry for the epic post but I have been MIA for a couple of days. Hospital appt was better than expected, im doing everything they would usually recommend for the pain so I just have to keep on doing it. They suggested maybe adjusting pain meds to make them more effective. Will see what happens. We had an event at our church last night which myself and my husband organised so Im very sore as was on my feet all afternoon. Day doing absolutely nothing today except chilling with the kids on the couch. Hubby has just said take aay for tea so we were all in agreement obviously lol xx
  • _party_ HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAYA!!! _party_ I hope you have a lovely day and a fantastic surprise!

ellie yes you can totally get carried away on Pinterest! At the beginning of the year I decided to be more careful about what I was pinning and set myself a challenge to do one thing a month from it. I'm a little behind but I have a few things planned coming up so I should hit my target.

    Magsnoodle fab Body Shop bargains!

Peppapig yes I don't usually read the comments on online articles, I guess I was just intrigued to see what people thought. I should have known! Hope you have a lovely time at the fayre.

freespirit eeek lost post! There's nothing worse! I thought you were posting them into Word first? If you've lapsed then you must get back to doing it! I'm telling you off for your own good, I hate to think of you getting stressed because of that, it is one of the most frustrating things. Ahh I can't believe Thumper is one! Time is really flying! What a cutie and he looks like he was one lucky little boy. Your shadow box is really lovely, you are really talented at these things.

nicki I LOVE the window display! You are so talented!

04624181 The racing teeth are a great idea as it gets everyone involved. I hope changing the meds a bit will work for you. Enjoy some rest today!

Well we've put a few Halloween decorations up, i've never done it before so they don't look that great! :p But it doesn't matter. We're having eyeballs and witches hair for tea (spaghetti and meatballs) and i've got some orange jelly setting in some little pumpkin moulds. I've got a pumpkin to carve this afternoon and the sweets are all ready for tonight. Tonight's film for DH and I is The Addams Family Values. We watched the first one last time. I just see Halloween as a bit of fun, I always like an 'event' and an excuse to do funny things with food etc. Wiggle and I had a little Halloween tea party on Wednesday for some of our NCT friends and I made some mummified sausage rolls and little ghost strawberries. I only like fun Halloween though, like all the childish witches and ghosts etc, I hate gory Halloween. I can understand why people don't like it and don't want to get involved, it's not for everyone. We live on a large estate and I do like seeing all the little ones all dressed up and excited. It's a very family orientated evening on Halloween around here.

I'm happy to say my Trisha Ashley Christmas Cracker books came with my food shop this morning! Woohoo! I ordered two, one for me and one as a Christmas present for a friend to go with a personalised bookmark I bought her. I also got some scratchcards with my shop too. It's so easy! There's a few other things ticked off the list. :T

Thanks for the compliments :o I'm not that talented, just very good with a stencil ;) Its taken me 2 days to do it as I had to wait for the black paint to dry properly before I did the pin stripes and other colours. In theory Zero (the ghost dog) should glow in the dark as I used special paint but we'll have to wait and see lol

I've been having thoughts about my Christmas window and how I'm going to tackle that. DD has requested I do Muppet Christmas Carol...she obviously thinks more of my skills than me lol :rotfl::rotfl:

Nicki - That window is amazing! :T

Princesskitty - I can perfectly understand the chance for some fun (and sweets!) or a party! The pumpkin jellies sound cute. :D I just don't really get the trick or treating thing. I imagine it works well if you live in a really good community/neighbourhood though.

So first present is bought - I've got a sewing book for my sister that I saw in Home Sense the other week. Bit annoyed with myself to be honest as I find her so easy to buy for I try and put her off til last! But if I find something else for her my parents will buy it off me so it doesn't really matter.

A friend has sent me some information about Operation Christmas Child (the shoe boxes) so I'm going to try and round up some stuff for that but was wondering if anyone had any ideas? And roughly what kind of amount you spend on it? I've got three boxes to do so I'd rather not spend a massive amount! I'm thinking two girls boxes (one 5 - 9, one 10 - 14) and one boys box (10 - 14)

CLUMSY glad you enjoyed your friends wedding reception, well the kids told me some worrying news about trick or treating, apparently there has been warnings from the police about people deliberately spiking the kids sweets with drugs/making them look like sweeties, i just dont understand people they are sick!!

NICKY the window looks fantastic as usual, oh i agree with your DD, a christmas carol would look brilliant! And you are very talented :)

04624181 hope your back feels less painful after a day of rest, glad the appt went well

IRISHROSE aww i bet DD will be thrilled when she opens that present!

PRINCESSKITTY i know i know, :rotfl:i was just so tired last night and typically that was the one night i lost it  aww your halloween sounds fab, we have years of lots of trick or treaters and then years of none, i hope it isnt too busy as DD1 and DS are both at halloween parties tonight and i am on my own! Oh he was so good he had such a long day yesterday opening lots of presents, trip to Brighton Aquarium, and up late! I will post my advent activities in a separate post :D i just told DD and was expecting her to say omg mum!! but she thinks it will be fab. I got my Trisha Ashley book in last nights shop as well thankyou for that i really didnt think you could order things like that!

KISSMENOW i think a lot of people use shops like HB, B&M and wilko for lots of little bits for these boxes so it doesnt cost a fortune, ideas i have seen are gloves, scarf, sweets, colouring pencils, pad, hairbrush, hair clips, soap, oh blimey i have gone blank will have a look online for you

  • Afternoon everyone, another newbie here coming out of lurkdom, I've been reading the thread since page 100 and only just caught up.
I love Christmas especially the run up to the big day. I'm a mum to 3 boys aged 9, 7 and 2 years old so Christmas is mayhem and I love it.
Not very organised this year have a few gifts for my youngest and that's about it so far, so need to get cracking.
Looking forward to chatting all things christmassy with you all xx
