whitesatin were you looking for ideas for Christmas lunch for the little ones?

Well the Halloween decs are down and it was lovely opening the curtains to the mist this morning, it feels like winter and the time of blankets and hot chocolates is here! You watch though, it'll be blazing sunshine and really warm later like yesterday! Today i'm going to begin sorting through my presents and dividing them into gift bags for people, i'll then begin wrapping a few a day. I've decided to start my hot chocolate station on Bonfire night. I'm a bit disappointed as I had a menu planned for DH and I for Bonfire night but he's going to be away again on business. I know I could do it another day but it's not the same - it involved bbqing sausages![/QUOTE]

Yes, princesskitty29, ideas for Christmas lunch. I know they will be so excited and lunch won't be high on their agenda but with all the extras they will no doubt be eating, I like to feel that I have given them something wholesome to eat. They like a buffet type lunch as it makes them feel grown up as they help themselves. I would need to set it up in the "toyroom" as I won't have the space for another table in the dining room. It is adjoining, and, with the door open, they won't feel left out. I will decorate it too, for them. It might not be possible to oversee what they actually choose as I will be busy but if it is mostly healthy, that should be fine. Their mums (and possibly dads???) will be occupied with their babies (one due in three weeks time:) and the other 11 months old by then:).

I am trying so hard to be organised, after my awful experience two years ago when it all went wrong when extra "guests" arrived.

Well there is blazing sunshine here now that the mist has lifted. Going to the local monthly market this morning and hoping to pick up a few bits. You mention blanket, I bought two lovely tartan ones from M&S, lambswool so nice and soft, and I have been using them for the past few days to keep the draught away from my legs and save on the heating bill. I love winter (I love all seasons but feel that the winter is when you can make the most of your home) and can't wait to get down to my Christmas planning. I browse a lot on the net, e.g. today I am looking for ideas for food to cook and freeze in advance.

A hot chocolate station sounds interesting, what is it? I love hot chocolate but not with all the extra cream they put on in cafes. I hope you get to enjoy Bonfire night but it must be annoying that your husband won't be there.

We are going to a village Bonfire Night Display then back to my sister in law's for chilli. I will be driving so no booze, maybe hot chocolate tho, lol.

Funny Bunny- there's been nothing mentioned again about the Argos 3 4 2 but every year for at least the last 3 years there been one after my daughters birthday which is this Tuesday. Every time we've gone in town to spend her birthday money she's also bought them on 3 4 2 in Argos. So if I was going to guess I'd say this Wednesday or if not the Wednesday after xx
Thank you so much, will keep my eye out for it as it will save quite a bit of money, especially since the eldest 2 have done their list and everything seems to be £49.99 each on it xx

Well after all that moaning I did we only got 1 trick or treater. Guess they must have sensed my negativity! :rotfl: Now we'll have to eat the 24 little bags of haribo we have left. What a shame. ;)

It's very foggy (or is it mist? I can't remember the difference) here this morning. I like fog. It makes everything seem wintery and mysterious. Best viewed from inside though. ;)

Hoping to go to Next tomorrow. Need to have a look for my step niece's MLP t-shirt. I'm hoping that they'll have an extended returns period in case it doesn't fit come christmas morning.

  • Clumsy I think I got my share, your share of trick or treaters and a few others! I was giving out popping candy and bought two bags of 100 sachets I've got about 40 bags left.
Biggest group was a Halloween party of about 25 children going round en masses but after crowding round to wish me happy Halloween and all yell trick or treat together they lined up to get a bag of candy each and then all thanked me before pressing the spooky doorbell I'd set up (glad we'd put new batteries in it) then they headed off to the next house.
Funniest thing was a guy dressed in a very convincing jack sparrow costume who just seemed to be on his own and was Following groups of kids down drives then making them jump before shouting happy Halloween to the kids and the householders giving the kids sweets and jogging off to look for another group. I've never seen that before.
halloween stuff now all but away, the pumpkins are still out but will be composted tomorrow.
I think I'll really start getting into the mood for Christmas now.

IrishRose that's a bonus getting your BHS delivered to your house! I'm like you, today is the day when I let myself indulge in Christmas films and music! :j
Glad it's not only me then lol:o
The BHS order getting delivered here was a Godsend. It must have been free delivery or something because I've had no extra charges. Someone must have pitied me when they felt the weight of the boxes:rotfl:
Been woken by my youngest so wide awake and thinking all things Christmas.
Does anybody know if Argoos will do another 3 4 2 toy sale? Or Sm*ths a 20% off toys again before Christmas?
Thinking of getting the eldest 2 bikes and the youngest something similar for his age.

Funny Bunny, don't quote me on this, but I could swear I saw somewhere that the Argos 3 for 2 is starting the Wednesday again. I hope it is cause I want to pick up a few stocking filers for the kids in it lol.

Just put and order in through Amazon for a few more pressies. All down in price so why not. :o

We've had a lazy day today - quite literally. Already watched a Christmas movie on the Christmas 24 channel - The Flight of the Reindeer I think it was and then the 2 eldest wanted Jingle All the way on so we're having a jammie day:rotfl:
They've been looking for the Elf on the Shelf DVD which has mysteriously disappeared, so will have to go look for that in a bit. I could almost act that DVD out now as it's been watched here that often, but will be interesting to see how youngest DS reacts to it as he's more aware of what's happening now lol.

Off to go finish the dinner and hopefully our DVD turns up. Otherwise I'll be placing another Amazon order lol

Picked up some wrapping paper so will wrap the couple of bits I have. Also found some cards from last year. I always buy the insert your own photo cards for family off my boys, works out cheaper than individual cards. So will have to get the youngest in a good mood so he will wear a silly Christmas hat and jumper and sit still to have his photo taken lol.
It's November already :j time is sure flying by.

Hey funnybunny, just to let you know the argos 3 for 2 starts again on Wednesday. I can't remember how long it's on for though this time
  • We had a lovely Halloween, took our youngest daughter trick or treating with some friends and it was so lovely. It's crazy how much people are starting to make a massive effort with Halloween now, some houses on our estate really went all out with the decs and one house even had a smoke machine amongst their garden display!

Feeling very Christmassy today though. It's misty outside, I've done a lot of housework so the house is all sparkly ready to put the decs up and we have had Christmas music on for most of the day. My OH brought home a yankee advent calendar for me on Friday, which was very kind. I love having lots of candles lit around the house & am looking forward to trying the various offerings in my calendar.

I'm loving keeping up with the thread, reading everybody's goings on and seeing the occasional photo.

Free - thumper is a right cutie and look at the lovely things he had for his birthday!! Very lucky boy xx and your shadow box is gorgeous xx
