  • Hi to all the newbies, come and join the fun.

Cherry, you're in big trouble because I am now obsessed with Etsy! I haven't bought anything yet but have a load of stuff in my basket ready to press the checkout button : )

Feisty - do take care of yourself, the most important thing is yours & your baby's health, everything else can take a back seat for now xx

Freespirit - I am the same with having multiple lists on my phone. I don't know what I'd do without them

    Good luck today newthrift.

I've been looking through my nigella Christmas book today & my OH came home from his shopping trip with a tub of Christmas chocolates - and yes, we have opened them already!

    Welcome to the thread Littleskintdragon.

Ha ha MrsI 'who is Buble?' - love it!

Feisty, so glad you're ok and resting. I know how difficult it can be when you're not a 'resting' type of person but just this once you're going to have to do it. Sorry to hear Housing Association process for replacing the kitchen isn't as straightforward as you were led to believe but I'm sure it will all work out very soon and how lovely it will be when you're baking in your beautiful new and clean kitchen! Hope MrFeisty is ok. Thanks for the heads up on the candle too. I was quite disappointed in a couple of Yankee candles last year so will give these a go and see how we get on.

Free, I think you're being sensible too, postal costs are just too high now to post parcels if you don't have to. I'll be sending our New Zealand ones in a couple of weeks - last posting for surface mail is 28th September. Last year the parcel got there before November but it's either that or it costs a fortune air mail.

Cherry, your Christmas themed evening with your friend sounds great. Think I might do one of those with DD (she's the only other Christmas nut I know).

Kaya, congrats on the new job - sorry but I seem to have missed you off my last post!

Nothing Christmassy happening here today although I have spent all day crafting/hobbying so it's been good. Think I'll update my pressie stash list tonight, that should round the day off nicely.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

    Hi all :)

    Couldn't just read and run!

Feisty - thank you so much for your kind words and massive congrats. We've decided to give it a rest for 6 months, you know what those injections do to you! And thank you for the link for the candles, I had no idea about them and they look amazing!

Cherry - How big are the reindeer soaps? Not sure whether to order or not as they are so cute but not sure I need them...I'll probably end up buying them anyway!

In my clearing out for the move, I've found 6 more gifts that should have been given last year, so its 6 more crossed off the list!

  • Evening everyone, well the only thing christmassy i have done today is bought DS popcorn (half price) for his movie night hamper

NEWTHRIFT hope it all went well today and the weather held out for you, congratulations!!!:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea

LITTLESKINTDRAGON hi and welcome to our thread, congratulations on your christmas baby!!!! I dont blame you asking your mum to do lunch, i hosted christmas at 6 months pregnant and by the end of the day my cankles were massive :D

FEISTY your only job now is to keep bubs safe and sound after all these years of heartache, the house can wait! DD2 was in the same boat last year panicking about getting the house all sorted, i had a word with her and told her all the stress wasnt good for the baby and she then calmed down, it still isnt finished because they have just enjoyed being with Thumper this year and now realise that he is more important than having a new kitchen, or the hall isnt finished! It always gets done in the end but precious moments and looking after baby will be over so quickly!

MRSINVISIBLE aww thankyou, wow that was a fab bargain!!

MRSMONEYPENNY i just want to say thankyou for one of your pins on pinterest, the one where they turn the plastic cups into santa, snowman etc I have some of those red cups (the kids are obsessed with american movies where they always have them at parties haha) so i am going to make the santa ones and it saves me having to buy glass jars :D

CHERRY aww thankyou although my eyes havent stopped streaming today and i am sneezing like a looney tonight!! Yes i agree sometimes you just have to draw a line and stick to it and people will just have to accept your decision, it is a minefield unfortunately with families!!

MONEYMISSION they are so handy arent they and you can delete what you have bought there and then in the shop, naughty naughty with the chocolates :D:D

PEPPAPIG oh blimey i would hate to think what it costs now to post abroad!

DOMRAVIOLI another 6 gifts off the list yayyy :) without having to go out and buy them

  • Thank u all for your lovely welcome :)

Lotz if babies coming here 2 by the sounds of it.

I love the ideas of the soaps and candles and pretty things, im going to have to have a look on etsy.
I got a box of xmas yankee. candles from my sil last year, but still had a load left from the box my mum bought me the year before, so we're ok in that dept.

Ive finished loads of peoples shopping, i'm dying to get it all wrapped, also got cards in asda in January, 10p for 20 cards. I spent 50p and got 100, that'll do me for a couple of years.
Still here..... but working on that!
  • Freespirit, you are absolutely right! I just feel guilty as the in laws (early 50s) are having to do EVERYTHING house decor wise and me and DH are literally sat in the nursery (only room decorated ;) ) with me filling orders and DH surfing the web (yes we have internet set up there even though we are months off moving in lol). Mama in law has said she doesn't mind and that she would be more upset if I was joining in, but sadly it hasn't eased the guilt any.

I had a really strong craving yesterday for the Aldi/Lidl german heart and apricot jam biscuits they do at Christmas. My Nan was german and for as long as I can remember (years before Aldi and Lidl launched in the UK) she would scour delicatessens for these biscuits and now they always signify Christmas and family. A bit of Aldi stollen wouldn't go amiss either ;)

Thanks for the welcome everyone :)

Yesterday I was in the Range and they were clearing lots of space and starting to put all their Christmas decorations out :xmassmile

We had a Yankee candle advent calendar last year which we both really enjoyed! Although, we've recently starting buying Village candles, which are a similar price to Yankee, and they seem to give off much more of a smell when lit :)
  • Well, it is coming up to 1 and I am starting to flag. Was up at 5 as I had to do a Heathrow drop off, home at 8, 2 hours ironing, fed & wrapped yesterday's Christmas cake, quick coffee, have 2 more cakes in the oven, tidied & washed up everything, washing machine on again, so think I deserve 5 mins! Trying to psych myself up to wrap presents, but at this precise moment would love a nap :o
A smile costs little but creates much :)
  • Hiyas all from a delurking lurker of years, can I please ask your opinions your the most varied honest family and friend orientated bunch I kinda know. Would you take your kids or grandkids ? I know we will lose all our hol money but I would rather use our spending money and stay on a local caravan park.. Sorry for delurking into a question x
