Im looking forward to all the Christmas magazines coming out, and all the Chrsitmas stuff in the shops. We had a Range open near us last October, I spent hours In there walking round and spending too much on decorations :D

I can't wait for all the Christmas stuff to come out either. :D I have the added bonus of a Christmas shop just a few minutes down the road from me. They did the lights in Bethlehem in 2012 and I love going into the shop to have a look, and buy a single decoration to add to the tree each year. I didn't manage to get there last year as I was so busy, but I'm making the effort to go this year. :xmassmile

My DD is going away in half term it appears (very handy as I'm working) but that means I can't do the usual trip to town to get Christmas cards etc which means taking her either after school (But I work most evenings and she's now started her GCSEs so homework amounts have increased) or taking her one Sunday as she spends Saturdays with her dad. :( I'm going to have to be even more organised this year if I'm not going to have that time.

  • Morning all

Not sure if they will be good for hampers or stockings but coop have tubs of skittles for £1 thy look reasonable value as they are quite heavy I'd say about 2 bags worth on weight and it's a small plastic tub.

Still working on the Christmas cross stitch I seem to be making good progress this week.

Have a good day all will try and pop in later.

Need to find prepared bulbs this weekend for the Christmas flower tubs DD3 does for grandparents.

    Hi Everyone,

Not been on here for a while. Just thought I'd check in.

I've seen a peel away Christmas sprout gift on the internet and am thinking of replicating it myself.

Basically, it is a sprout made from tissue paper with layers that you peel away. It can be used as an alternative advent calendar where you peel away each day with gifts in. Otherwise it can be used as an alternative Christmas cracker with a big gift in the centre and little trinkets, hats and jokes within the layers.

I'm going to have a go at making some as alternatives to crackers. I will do family and couple ones I think. Will probably put a chocolate orange or bauble gift in the centre. They can then take it in turns to open or do it pass the parcel style. What do you think? I'm pretty sure my sister and boyfriend will love this. Could also try a Christmas pudding instead.

Hi cherry 24 - I cannot quite visualise this Christmas sprout, can you give me either a link or the search wording to find this. Sounds intriguing! 🎄
  • Hi Everyone,

Had a bit of a spree on Etsy yesterday for my peel a sprout games / gifts. Bought several small gifts for them:
    It's a Wonderful life badges
    Reindeer soaps
    Snowflake charm bracelets

I'm going to get some Christmas decs to go in the middle. Kind of reminds me of when people used to cook trinkets into Christmas puddings.

The one thing I really need to stock up on this year is toilet roll! We ran out on Christmas eve last year and couldn't find anywhere that was open. Lesson learnt.

DomRavioli - Gorgeous stone cottage sounds amazing. That's what we are saving up for at the moment as like you, we live in police siren city.
freespirit66 - There definitely seem to be some very fast acting colds going around at the moment. Hope you feel better soon.
Hi Creamcrackerstwo - Mysteriously, the original link I had now has a 404 error but also found it here
  • Hello all I hope it's ok to join at this late stage...I love Christmas but this year is likely to be a challenge with a 3 yr old DS and ds2 due Christmas day ( didn't plan that one very well did I lol), plus I got forced out of my job when they found out I was pregnant so funds are tight. ...so all in all I need to be super frugal and organised this year ;-)

I will be following this thread keenly and hopefully enjoying it thoroughly

  • Thanks for those links Cherry. Just ordered some of those reindeer soaps myself 😃
  • Hehe, I've had the day off today so spent the morning tidying & cleaning but now I'm sat watching one of my Michael Buble Christmas episodes. Makes me want to cry because it's not Christmas yet!!! His voice singing it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas is just perfect. Has anybody ever seen him live? I went a few years ago with my OH and he was amazing, so much fun & his voice is just as amazing live as it is on his records.

Freespirit - the M&S one is the nicest one I've had, it's very light so easy to drink.

Wow nicki you are lucky, I would love a Christmas shop near me. Actually I'd love to work in a Christmas shop if I'm wishing for things.

Cherry, I like the sound of those little gifts. I'll have to have a look at etsy.
  • Hi Haribo and MoneyMission, no problem - glad they were useful.

Never seen Buble live but I know it's Christmas when I hear him singing over the tannoy in the supermarket :)

Welcome aboard the mad train to Christmas, we are now going downhill and building up speed!

Congrats on the expected delivery, but I hope I am not reading things the wrong way about you leaving work. If I am not, there are laws that have to be followed.
