The shop advertises itself as everything for a pound.
The clue is in the name.
It says that is its core value.
When you go there you think everything is a pound.

Now that is no longer the case.

They may be changing their business model, but in that case they need to stop advertising themselves as "Poundland is the largest single price value retailer in the UK", because that is not true.

Why are you defending them so vociferously?

(I see they're now offering an ottoman for £8, with a £3 qualifying spend.)

Do you shop there? If not, why are you so bothered. Their prices are clearly marked. If you have such an issue have you contacted Trading Standards?

Have you ever tried contacting Trading Standards? Obviously not. They're totally swamped with complaints against unscrupulous retailers and any complaint takes forever to get to the top of the pile.

Maybe it's because they don't deal with petty complaints.

They certainly wouldn't deal with this.

I don't quite understand. You advise a course of action then reverse your decision. I can't take you as a credible adviser.

Some of you have misunderstood 'Poundland'. It means everything sold inside starts with a pound sign £, doesn't mention what the following numbers have to be!
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

Can you quote the post of what I advised myself and when I changed it. I certainly didn't advise speaking to Trading Standards, my entire postings have said there's not a problem. There seems to be a lot of not reading things properly going on!

You will find as its a PROMOTIONAL item and cannot be bought direct instore unless you purchase qualifying products which is clearly stated online, instore and in the media then they are not doing anything wrong. ASA wont do anything as they have advertised it as a promo item where a purchased needs to purchase qualifying items to be able to purchase the item.

I popped in Poundland today and it was really busy, if only those people walked a few yards down the road they could visit 99p Store and it would feel like a January Sale to them. Admittedly not the greatest sale but still a bigger percentage discount than a lot of the shops pretend "sales".
