I got offered the David Beckham fragrance for £8 at the till and did wonder how come it wasn't £1Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £16,087.170

Heads up, so nobody's Boxing Day is ruined, they have an offer on an Ottoman tomorrow for £8 when you spend £3. You have been warned.....0

I'm struggling to find sympathy for the people who are complaining about getting goods for less than it's wholesale price.
Regardless of whether they advertise it or not, they cannot claim that EVERYTHING is £1, I believe they stock a range of CDs for £2.
Clearly, not EVERYTHING is £1, then, which is the crux of the OPs argument.0 -
Poundworld got in trouble for a similar thing recently. See http://www.asa.org.uk/Rulings/Adjudications/2014/10/Poundworld-Retail-Ltd/SHP_ADJ_268960.aspx#.VJx48DAEA
As far as I can see, Poundland no longer claim 'Everything's a Pound' - it's 'Amazing Value' now.The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

The same amazing price since 1990!
Every week, millions of savvy customers enjoy the fun and exciting shopping experience of Poundland in hundreds of stores nationwide. We are very proud to offer you a single £1 price, that hasn’t changed since we opened our first store.0 -

Good spot. I'm sure if somebody had the time to draft a letter to the ASA, Poundland would get a slap on the wrist and told to remove the claim from that page on their website. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

I would guess the loophole they would exploit would be the fact that it was a special promotion offer. You can't buy the item instore directly unless you do their promotion of spending £3 or more. At which point you can buy the promotional item
It's a bit dodgy but at the end of the day its a massive discount on David Beckham aftershave. Forcing poundland to withdraw this offer will only really damage the consumer.0 -
Well if it is clearly advertised instore, I would say they are covered legally.0

They don't. Just took a look, at their website the the Beckham fragrance is clearly £8. With only 3 items not being a pound and obviously special offers when you spend over £3 I don't see the problem at all.
http://www.poundland.co.uk/promotions/spend-3-in-store-to-qualify-for-three-special-offers/
In other words you can't just go in and buy those items at the said price. You have to spend a minimum to get them. They are obviously for this reason that they can't be bought separately not normal stock but blatant offers after a minimum spend has been made.0 -
Actually there is a point there; I assumed that everything in Poundland is £1.
If that isn't the case, then you need to watch the price of every item you pick up.0
