Oh dear, one hopes you remain in good health for the season. Now which bity of my original post is too hard for you to understand?

Don't have difficulty understanding the issue, just ways of going about saying it. What has my health got to do with it?

I don't really see what's wrong with the way the OP has phrased it.

It's contributions based JSA, which means he's paid into the welfare system designed to support him when he is in need. The system has apparently failed him twice in quick succession. Unsurprisingly, he's annoyed and felt venting on a board designed for, among other things, venting, was appropriate.

There's nothing the OP has said that suggests he is work-shy or not looking for employment, only that he currently has been unable to secure employment since his previous term of employment ended. Not many people can secure a new job in a matter of weeks (which is why JSA isn't just one single payment and off you go...).

My contribution based JSA was not paid today, it was paid late last time it was due, and I got those idle people at the JC to sort it out. Apparently the system set up does not like Joint Claims, on the new pad system. Was assured after their flock up on 11th December 2014, it would not occur again.

Well, it has! Due payment today, not received. And lo and behold, it appears that Civil Servants have an extra Bank Holiday, unlike the rest of the populace.

Next time they complain about pensions, they can go take a ...

Sorry about your payment delay hope you get your money soon.

But your title is incorrect to-day is not a Bank Holiday as you state.

Also I suggest the fact that you did not get your money on time had nothing to do with Civil Servants getting an extra days holiday.
But don't worry I'm sure getting rid of Civil Servants' additional day off will feature in the Governments hit list of future cuts if that makes you happy.
Why do some people feel the need to slag off the benefits other workers get.

Thanks for your post. You are correct, today is not a Bank Holiday, except that Civil Servants seem to be given the day off. The JC line is closed, Stroud JC is closed, as they are already on holiday, that leaves 5 days Weds, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun with £7 and a mortgage to pay on Saturday. No recourse until Monday, should the office open. And as this is the second time, in a joint claim, that the signature pad system is unable to be able to complete, I shall be seeking redress, and placing a full complaint with the JC on Monday. This is only the second time I have signed.

This is not the first time that the Public Service has seen fit to close down fully, one day early and cause me hardship or other. The last time was in 2007! That time they failed to fulfil a commitment, as stated in their mission profile, Christmas Eve, GCC Closed!!!!

No doubt on 5th January, they will check my applications, via cookies and other intrusive internet collecting tools that I have been fortunate to feed the numerous email gathering agency sites, that I have lost count of now, that through up, data mine all jobsites these days. I have had one agency put in applications for me across various employers, only to find out, when a regular agent came back and said I had already applied for one employer! Hence one opportunity will be unrealised.

If it makes you feel any better, I work in Local Government and have been on leave since last Wednesday.

Have you considered taking up a job writing fiction,

A few JC in your area have closed I can assure you that a vast number of Civil Service offices were open to-day

I work in an NHS GP practice, we're all here until 8pm, closed for the actual bank holidays and open again on Saturday morning.
  • I work for the Civil Service and we are closed on the Bank Holidays only. And due to the nature of my work pretty much required to go in if the circumstances dictate.

Can't speak for the Jobcentres but when my partner worked in them many years ago they did open Christmas Eve. This was in the days most jobseekers got Giros so they stayed open to make sure they could write out replacements of some went missing in the post.

And to calm you down - most Civil Servants no longer get the extra days old style Civil Servants got. Plus permanent contracts and non-contributory pensions are long gone as well. Hope that makes you feel better about using your frustration at being let down (which you have) to criticise dedicated workers.

Stop bashing Civil Servants. The Daily Mail does it so much better!
  • Forever. The JC was closed. The phone line this morning stated they were all closed for Christmas. Anyone who's payment was due today, Thurs and Fri who were not paid, will be in the same boat as me.

Bromleymum. Not a go at NHS etc.

Blarney. Your gloating bout a week off would fuel the likes of the DM.

Now, as I have only signed twice! Both times, due to the inadequacies of the system, it has failed to pay me twice. Now, I could accept the JC's failing a couple of weeks ago. What mood do you think I should be in come Monday, welcoming these JC workers back from a Christmas? Play on my heart condition? Or do something stupid! Now while I will not do the third idea, there is no wonder some, other individuals, in more need, would get more bothered.

Off now to sink my sorrows, £7 till Monday will go a flocking long way!

Would like to see the Daily Mail try to make a story about me using annual leave and Flexi/TOIL.

As your mortgage payment is set to go out on a date that falls on Saturday, I presume it will be taken on Monday, so potentially may overlap the payment going out and the JSA going in?
