Back from seeing the new star wars film and it didn't dissapoint. We saw some trailers for new films coming out that we really want to see. We don't get to go out very often, but we enjoy watching films.0

I'm having a lie in and catching up with all your news.:)
We had a quiet Christmas with family visiting on other days. Having time off work has given me time to think and plan - I really didn't make looking after myself a priority this year.
I got a book called 'unlock the secret messages of your body' by Denise Linn for Christmas so I'm starting to work through that (it's a 28 day programme of evaluation and rethinking health and wellbeing). I've had backache and a headache that's lasted a few days now and I think it might be hormonal. Luckily my job has been extended to March and I get some health cover which means I can have a couple of sessions with an osteopath to see if that helps.
I've over eaten a bit and feel like I'm getting to be shaped like a Tellytubby (not a good look) so shaping up is definitely going to be on the agenda for the coming year. Looking forward to the new thread and raring to go :j
Crazy clothes challenge 2017 - 30/3000 -
Hi all hope you had a great Christmas, ours was the usual craziness of lots of food and fun with kids and DGKs. I'm looking forward to a new thread for next year I've just got to figure out my list now.
I saw my sister yesterday for the first time in almost two years, after the stillbirth of our second granddaughter I fell out with my parents due to their attitude and she didn't talk to me again. I will be honest I really don't know how I feel about seeing her again I do know I'm a lot happier without my parents in my life so that won't be changing but I'm really not sure about her....something to seriously think about over the next while.
I have my DGD today and am taking her to visit a friend of mine so not much fabbing going on but lots of fun.
Rowan the book sounds good I'm going to read the free sample on kindle and then see if I fancy buying itkonMarie and fabbing all the way

Good afternoon ladies
Well it's getting towards the end of the year now and as usual I'm itching for the new one to begin.
In readiness I have started my new diary, transferring all info that I like to keep to hand and have marked off the important days that I know of - there's quite a lot going on in May.:rotfl:
Maman - funny you should mention wedding outfits. DIL and I were discussing her mums and sisters outfits yesterday. She showed me pictures of the kind of things they are looking at.
I had wondered about wearing Long as opposed to knee lengths. It looks like that's what we will be choosing too. It's my preference but I felt it might not be appropriate if DILs family didn't.
I have also got a rough idea of what colours now. Please tell me what you think.
They are all dark Latin types and will be wearing bright flamboyant colours which they all look fabulous in, whereas I look better In subtle shades. I don't want to upstage anyone or upset them. I just think I would look awful in the same bright colours, so thought if I went for paler shades of the same colour spectrum......
So where DILs mum will be wearing a vivid purple for the UK ceremony I thought perhaps a lilac and for the Barcelona church day she will be wearing dark grey and black I thought perhaps a pale or silver grey.
I will obviously involve DIL in the final choice but just wanted some ideas and feedback from you lot first.
I'm very conscious that I am "only" the mother of the groom and that the Brides family are the "stars" but I want to get it right. Families have been known to go to war over less.:rotfl:
Which brings me to Lollyfin......sorry to hear about your discomfort re your sister and parents. That old adage - you can chose your friends but not your family is so true.
It's especially difficult with close family, siblings and parents. I struggle with both my father and BIL. They are very alike. TBH I'm still quietly seething over the fact that neither of them attended my husband's funeral. I found it hurtful and disrespectful but there you go, they obviously had no such scruples.
I find keeping them at arms length works best for me. I keep visits short and sweet, keep the conversation light and general and then make my fond farewells just as soon as I deem it seemly. :rotfl:
I can just about cope with small doses.
Hope you find a solution that works for you.0 -
The colour choices for the wedding ceremonies sound ideal LL. :T
It can be very difficult to make colour choices as a guest when going to a wedding never mind as the mother of the bride or groom! Sounds like you have chosen colours that suit you but will also complement with what the bride's mother is going to be wearing.A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

ll I've started my diary transfer too. I have a small diary I keep in my handbag to keep me organised. I could use my phone, but I do like having a paper diary, which is strange as I now prefer ebooks and do everything else electronic.
ll I agree, your colour choice for the wedding sounds good. I bet the in laws may also be worrying about whether they are dressed appropriately too, particularly as the wedding won't be in their home country.0 -
Wedding colours sound lovely, LL - and will be great to be in 'theme' but different.
(I remember my mil bought a very similar dress and hat both in shade and style to my mum's ones for my wedding - I was really annoyed at the time!)

I definitely don't Want to upset anyone, especially my future DIL......
I've been busy the last couple of days - did a big paperwork sort out, including the last of my husband's medical notes and business accounts. It made it all feel so final iyswim.
Today I filled a couple of bags for the Chazzer, books, shoes, clothes, unwanted Christmas decorations.... Still got a long way to go with the decluttering but it's a start.0 -
LL having a clear out can be emotional, particularly stuff belonging to DH, but its only 'stuff' and you will always have your memories of him. I'm going to start decluttering myself soon. Our house isn't big and we only have a couple of 'hot-spots' of clutter.
I've come into work today. OH doesn't have any work, so I thought I may as well come in to save my holiday for another time. Its nice and quiet in the office.0
