Frugal Frump to Fab - 2015

Thanks for all the comments. I was working from home yesterday and my mind really wasn't on the job. Pretty much smiled all day long, and from his messages he was in the same state. Anyway, he is working most of today but has arranged to call when he has some free time this afternoon.
Off for a pedicure this afternoon - my nails are in a decent enough state, though the polish has been on long enough it's growing out, but the soles of my feet are resembling hooves again, so time to get it sorted before my new year hiking trip. Think I will take a nice festive gold for them to use (They have plenty of colours at the salon but I like to take my own in case I don't see something that's quite what I want).
Will do a mini home facial today, not been doing well on the sleep front because of the late nights so my skin isn't looking at it's freshest. Although I was told by ironing lady yesterday that I had a "glow" about me - of course I was talking about the new man at the time!
Went to see my colour consultant yesterday to get some new make up (foundations and lipsticks). She'd pointed out when I saw her in October that mine were a bit putty like (more colour than texture), and now I've continued to use for a while I can see what she means.
Ended up buying a few clothing items too. She talked me in into trying on some Kettlewell tops in a smaller size and I think she's right to say I've ended up wearing ones that are larger than I need now, they did look more flattering. I'll see what they have in the post Christmas sale, often have 50% off, bought a couple from her at 25% off. Also bought a couple of nice large wraps from her, could wear instead of a coat on warmer days, with a broach would work a bit like a poncho I think.
Need to get the house in a better state too - quite untidy at the moment, and now I am looking at with the eye of girl who might like o invite her new boyfriend over, I want to make a bit of an effort to make a good impression!
Out tonight with the girls locally, should be fun. Got to work out what to wear - think just jeans and a nice top though, it's not like we're going somewhere that smart.0 -
I'm so glad your date went well Indie, we await the next instalment eagerly.
I've made a bit more effort with my work clothes this week. It's our xmas Christmas do tonight and I am tempted to stay at home because I'm a bit under the weather but I'm going to drag myself. I looked for a new dress yesterday as I haven't bought anything for ages. I couldn't find anything I liked so I spent nearly £60 on three really lovely new bras. Am I the only one whose chest seems to change size every year??! I really needed new bras but I didn't need to spend so much. I treated myself anyway because they're so nice. I'm very flat chested and it's hard to find nice bras. http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/uk/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=5741432596815&category=WOMENS-BRAS-EUMortgage overpayments 2018: £4602, 2019: £7870

Bras are a nightmare aren't they.. They are nice though.
So grey And miserable here, one of those days where it hardly gets light. I can't going this morning, still in my pjs.
had a lovely night out last night although the city was heaving. I think a lot of people had broken up from work and lots of work dos, it was like party central.
I' ve had a really busy couple of days so I am just going to take things easy today, I am shattered. I feel really lethargic so I'm not going to fight it.
I do have to nip out to the corner shop, hopefully the fresh air might liven me up.......
Other than that, not much planned, a bit of tidying, wrap some the last lot of presents, cook dinner and a quiet night in.
Soon be the shortest day, hopefully it will start getting a bit lighter.0 -
It's quite bright and warm in London - I popped out to buy some rolls for lunch and bought some beautiful flowers for Christmas - got a nice florist stall on the parade of shops near me and they did me a really nice arrangement with berries, red roses, foliage and a white hydrangea, very classy.
I think bras can be awkward no matter what your size. It's not that easy getting the balance right between support and femininity when you have a larger bust.
At least as I am losing weight they're getting a bit smaller, gone from F to DD, but it would be great to get properly slim again and be down to a C and find I have more choice in the shops.0 -

Yeah bras are just such a pain and changing weight means needing new ones more often.:o I wonder if all the C cup ladies struggle too?
Your flowers sound gorgeous, I might copy your idea and treat myself again..Mortgage overpayments 2018: £4602, 2019: £7870

I had a period when I was a C cup and I have to admit I was pretty content then - enough to feel more feminine than when I was an A cup as a college student (and it balanced out my child bearing hips better!) but not so much that gravity started to take over or that I would fall into the specialist ranges like you do as soon as you go over E cup or even DD some of the time.
The changing weight thing was still an issue of course. Don't have to vary by much at all for bras to become useless.0 -
Had my hair done yesterday, cut and highlights. It's a bit shorter than my usual stylist does it but we'll see how it looks when I blow dry it myself.
Had a great night out at Abba tribute band last night. I wore my new black jumpsuit and felt great. At cost per wear I'm already pleased I bought it.
It's my DD1's birthday tomorrow LL but she's opted for a Chinese here as restaurants are so manic at this time of the year.lessonlearned wrote: »Funny you mentioned jeans. I went through a phase where I noticed the dye from jeans was marking sofas and chairs. I had to put an old throw on things before we sat on them. That was a few years ago now. Perhaps they use better dyes now.
Sadly not, I've noticed 'my' seat is looking grubby on the new sofas and it can only be down to jeans. It's not the right weather to wash them just yet but I'm hoping for the best.sofarbehind wrote: »Yeah bras are just such a pain and changing weight means needing new ones more often.:o I wonder if all the C cup ladies struggle too?

Those are pretty bras sofar and worth spending the money as it'll make you feel good. When I put weight on I went from a 36B to a 38D and then when I lost it I was delighted to go down to a 34 but kept the D cup. Result!!:D. The best thing I did was to get properly measured. Now I know my proper size I look regularly in TK Maxx to see what they have in. It's essential to try them on though as styles and brands vary so much. Next I need to track down some strapless bras that work, definitely before next summer.
Christmas slowly coming together. Most decs are up but tree still waiting to be potted up. Hopefully do that tomorrow.
Back Soon.:)0 -
Not feeling terribly fab today - 10 weeks after losing his mum, my DH's dad died last night. Will someone please cancel Christmas for us?2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
