Just dipped in to this. Don't give up on dating sites. My daughter met her husband on one 12 years ago and has been married 9 years with two lovely children now.0

I met my DH online in 2003, we married in 2010
I agree about the idiots, but I met a few nice blokes before finding DH.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Thanks for the encouragement givememoney and Floss.
I have to admit after my last experience of online dating I seem to be better at spotting the idiots and not wasting time on them - anyone sending me a generic message that could have gone to anyone has just been immediately deleted. Those guys are just fishing in case anyone will bite - and that doesn't suggest someone who is looking for a girlfriend.
I met quite a few nice chaps last time before meeting the guy I went out with for nearly two years. A few less nice, but no one really unpleasant to spend time with.
Am definitely not giving up on it, even if this week's date doesn't go as well as I hope. It's the best way I have found of meeting a lot of new people in a short period of time. I am hopeless at going up to people in pubs etc and chatting them up, but quite happy emailing guys.0 -
Hi all, good luck Indie on the date
My 50 year old widowed Sister in law was blubbing all over me at the weekend (not that I minded), she is ready to date again having been widowed for 6 years but just doesn't know where to start. Still having school age children restricts her somewhat.
Glad you had such a fab time, LL
Not much to report my end. I get another year older on Friday and feel it occasionally... But counting down till I finish work and become a full time student. :TI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Indiepanda Great to read that you have another date. Hope all goes well.A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

VJ'sMum, my boys were 13 & 15 when I started internet dating, it's really down to how you approach it & the mindset you have from the outset. I wasn't looking for a husband when I found DH but he bit at the comment I posted on his profile photo!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Intrigued - what was the comment that got his attention?0 -
He had a photo of him in ski kit, beside some ice sculptures in an Italian ski resort - I commented that he "looked like a Rossignol advert" as he was in a red & black jacket with matching Rossi skis2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

That's very exciting indie I hope you have a great time and it's lovely you are getting to go somewhere you have wanted to go for a while.
Lesson learned I have had NT membership for years and as a family we have loved it. For us it worked out if we went to two properties our membership had paid for itself. My kids also learned loads of little things from talking to the guides, it was so nice to have them talk about the beauty of the houses and gardens while we walked round. My 16 year old DD asked if we could go to one of our favourite houses for the day last summer, we had a great time and I was surprised by how much she remembered from previous visits. If you are ever planning a visit to the NE of Scotland I can point you in the direction of some truly gorgeous properties that are worth a visit.
I haven't been doing much fabbing this week at all too busy trying to organise Christmas....ok making lists to organise Christmas but in my mind I'm getting there :rotfl:
I've also realised that from my tiny wardrobe I still only wear a few things but there are some that I think would be lovely if I altered them, I cannot sew :rotfl: but I'm wondering if I could teach myself or maybe even find a class in the new year. I'm very excited about this and think it comes under the heading of fabbing myself, learning a new skill and making my things gorgeouskonMarie and fabbing all the way

Ah, always a good one - actually show you've looked at their profile for more than a split second. It's quite amazing the number of people that don't.
Ended up spending another three hours messaging with Thursday's date last night. I think both of us are aware we're very keen and are trying not to get so excited we end up getting too nervous.
I've been smiling the broadest of smiles since Sunday. I think he'll be about the 18th person I've met up with from online dating and I never felt this excited about any before. Just seems like we're very much on the same wave length.
Oh well, a few days of working should calm me down... nothing like a bulging inbox and an impossibly long to do list to take the edge off happiness! Though I have Christmas do's at work tonight at tomorrow so I won't be working late this week.0
