  • Sounds lovely chanie. I stopped wearing lots of lovely fabrics, white and earrings when I had my kids it just wasn't worth the ickyness. I should start again when my DGC aren't here :).

I slept in this morning for the first time in I don't know how long so am now very far behind in getting things done, I'm not even dressed , I have had DGD this morning tho but she's away home now.
So I am going to fab as I look a mess and then get the rest of my jobs done. I can't believe Christmas is next week I'm so unorganised!

lolly once you get out of the habit of wearing nice stuff for whatever reason, it's difficult to start again, even if the reason you stopped no longer applies!!! I hope the sleep in was made you feel rested.

I've been thinking about baking recently. I like the idea of doing the course I found, but more for doing something for 'me', than a desire to bake. However, as well as factoring in the cost, I'm not sure how much baking I will do - it's not exactly good for the waistline and my children are quite young, so don't eat much. When I do bake, it's for a purpose e.g. school fair, and then I find it quite stressful, as I leave it to the minute and inevitably run out of an ingredient. So, I've decided to try baking more at weekends to see how I get on. I can give the cakes to Church for the monthly bake sale, or take them to work. My first task will be to bake something for the nursery staff from Dd.
  • Just home from the date. Could not have gone better. Conversation flowed just like it had online. And he looked better in person than he did in his photos, and the photos weren't bad.

Went to the Electric Cinema in Notting Hill after eating at the diner next door. He'd booked one of the sofas at the back of the cinema. We started out holding hands demurely across the bolster cushion that was in between the two seats and ended up with the cushion out of the way on the floor snuggled up together.

He wanted to make sure I got home safely so took a taxi to drop me off at my place, he is staying at a hotel a few miles away that he usually uses when he is staying up in London for business.

Very much looking forward to date no 2 on Monday now, he got complementary tickets for the new musical Kinky Boots (based on the film) as he's going to be working on the recording of the show, so we're doing an early dinner first and then the show.

Very quick post before I go to bed.

Thanks so much indie for letting us know about the date. Delighted it went well and you're in a happy place.:)

chanie, obviously too late for the current pair but I've had problems too with black jeans losing colour. Seemed to have helped by using the black/denim washing liquid (Waitrose and I believe Tesco) and turning them inside out before washing. May be coincidence with different brands of jeans but the more recent pairs are doing much better whereas other (previous ones) lost colour after a single wash.

Thank you. Woke up this morning to a little message from him which included the following:

"I think you're rather special and I am very lucky to have met you."

Am grinning from ear to ear. I was pretty sure from the way he'd behaved on the date and comments made in the taxi home that he was as keen as me, but it's very reassuring to have it in black and white.

Indie - he sounds like a Keeper:D. Can't wait for the next instalment......

Spent yesterday with my sister and dad, had a nice lunch with them. Sisters extension coming along nicely, on track to move dad in by Easter.

Spent last evening wrapping presents and watching Christmas TV. Hoping to get the tree up at the weekend. It's currently in the kitchen drying off.

It's last years which we planted in a pot and which has grown and thrived, so no new tree this year.. Very MSE...:

(We also have a baby one which I bought for £5 in the sales earlier in the year which is doing nicely, so when this one gets too big to bring indoors we have another one waiting in the wings. How thrifty is that........:rotfl:)

I am in such a different place emotionally from last year.......I'm really looking forward to Christmas this year. I shall still my miss my darling but I'm ready now to move forward. Life is good again.

Fab Friday today. Glad rags on. Today I'm meeting a friend for lunch and then tonight we are taking my DIL out for dinner for her birthday. So lots of nice eats and fun times today.

Very dark here today. Soon be the solstice and then the sun returns and the days start getting longer again.

Btw - there will be a special Christmas full moon this year on Christmas Day and there won't be another one for several years, so make sure you get to see it and make a special Christmas wish.....if the skies are clear it should be a really good one, around 11pm is the best time to view.

I'm lying in bed drinking my tea that DS2 bought me with the cat curled up with me. Life just gets better. :D

I think I will wear my grey sequinned jacket tonight but will dress it down with jeans and a plain white t shirt that has some white lace fretwork type embroidery.

    Very rock chic.:rotfl:

    Have a fab day.

Ps Chanie - baking is very relaxing and rewarding, although I'm not very good at it. I'm better at mains. DS2 bought DS1 a lot of baking stuff for Christmas so looking forward to his offerings.......

Funny you mentioned jeans. I went through a phase where I noticed the dye from jeans was marking sofas and chairs. I had to put an old throw on things before we sat on them. That was a few years ago now. Perhaps they use better dyes now.

A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.
