rummer I hope you find a nice coat. I got mine in August in the sale for half price - just a cheapy coat for work.
maman I hope the chilli was nice. I love my slow cooker.
maddie I hope you managed to rescue your soup.
On a other forum, this question was asked?
how much do you spend each year on beauty?
I worked out I spend about £600 - thought it was less:
£80 on hair cuts
£200 on skincare
£120 on laser treatment (groupon - so cheaper)
£80 on make up
£160 on waxing
£100 on other toiletries, eyebrow threading
When I added it up, I was surprised at how much it came to, as I always thought my routine was pretty frugal - I do my own nails, I don't get facials or pedicures, I only use 3-4 skincare produts and I colour my own hair.
I guess my biggest spend is in hair removal. I have pcos excess hair and spotty skin are symptoms.
Despite what I spend, I don't have much to show for it. As some of you remember, I have just discovered Lush and I found a recipe for the products I use, so I could save £50 a year if I make my own products.
D
Would anyone mind sharing their spends and how they find it works for them
My figures don't include clothes either!!! If I added those kid be going into 4 figures.0 -
It's amazing how it mounts up chanie. I'll have to 'do the math' to get an annual total but I know I spend far more on my high maintenance hair for starters. It's £100 for just one cut/blow dry/highlights alone that's probably my biggest expense and Benefit/Clarins/Clinique make up and toiletries don't come cheap but at the other end I use Aldi moisturiser!:rotfl:0

i thought I spent more than that, but then calculated
£250 on hair cuts and colours
£40 on skincare (mostly evoo and tinted moisturiser)
£50 on make up
£ 200 on waxing / eyebrow tinting
£50 on other toiletries, shampoo, shower gel, but largely bought from the pound shop - I do get posher stuff as gifts (birthday, Christmas, Mother's Day etc as I never really need stuff as such)
So not much in it.
Nice to hear LL having such a great time, but sorry for those with problems. Work has been getting me down but I am about to hand in notice and embark on a full time PhD:T and  and :j. I feel terrible about what this will do to the remaining and already depleted team but..... It isn't my fault, management (for want of a better word) have truly shafted us all.:(I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

My beauty total would be as follows:
Shellac - £500 ( every fortnight)
Hair - £500, includes roots, highlights & cut all by my lovely mobile hairdresser
Waxing - £48, eyebrows every 6 weeks
Eyelash tint - £60, every 2 months
Makeup - £50, usually use gift vouchers
Perfume -£0 s DH buys that!
Spa days -£100 max, always on Groupon type offer, usually 3 a year.
So appox. £100 a month...not too bad as my appearance is part of my job within the chief execs office.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Popping in quickly to say thank you for all your kind words and advice - all taken on board and appreciated. The link on nutrition really interested me indie as I've long wondered if there's a link between diet and mood.
The PhD sounds exciting VJsmum - good luck with it.
I feel terrible about giving my notice in too, especially after such a short time, but once people leave a place, those left probably just get on with their own stuff and don't give much thought to anything else.
I've been mooching a bit this weekend without much fabbing but it's ok - I'll be back on top of things soon hopefully.
Have a good week everyone x0 -

Many congratulations, that's great news about the PhD.:T I wanted to apologise for any offence caused by my comment on the quality of university teaching a week or so ago. I think it's just that I've seen school teachers being hammered over quality of teaching in recent years (well about 20+ since Ofsted) and massive funding cuts in 6th Forms. There's already a mass exodus of teachers from the profession and if the graduate job market truly picked up then many other would follow them out of the door. Why is it the stick approach is so popular in the public sector? A carrot or two wouldn't go amiss.
I'd forgotten about beauty treatments floss so I could add eyebrow waxing, feet and nails to my list. I buy toiletries from £ shop too alongside the Clarins I get as gifts. Just finishing a nice, Simple mint shower gel and got a Nivea one to use next. May I ask how your nails cope OK with fortnightly shellac? Mine went through a bad patch back in the summer, very dry and the corners kept splitting. I think that may have been down to changing to a blunt shape from ovals. Anyhow I've worn my nails 'au naturel' ever since and they've gradually grown back healthy although there are some ridges that I haven't had before. I do miss my red talons though;).
All the usual fabbing done for today but not doing anything exciting so just slopping around in old jeans. How often does everyone wash/style their hair? I envy people with wash and go styles but mine really doesn't like a daily wash. I do every other day and that seems to work out OK.
Talking of hair, Have you made that appointment yet ellsbel?:D0 -
Maman my nails are good, I've had the shellac for almost over 18 months now, I love it because it hides the grubbiness from my allotment in the spring & summer!
I wash my hair every other day unless it's been done by my hairdresser when I can get an extra day from it.
I forgot toiletries but they are in the housekeeping and are generally HB or B&M value buys of branded stuff2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I have no idea what I spend on hair and beauty:o I buy fairly expensive skin care Clinique, Emma Hardie, Clarins, Elemis, Darphin and others, make up is Clinique for foundation and SPF, Lily Lolo for finishing powder and with eye make up and lipsticks from Clarins, Lancome, Bobbi Brown as the occasional treat and the majority from B**ts or S8perdrug. Haircuts are £40 every 7 weeks and £80 for highlights 2 or 3 times a year.
I do my own manicures and pedicures also de-fuzzing and eyebrows now done by myself. I have a terrible weakness for nail varnish and own a huge amount (OPI, Leighton Denny, Nails Inc and A England, sadly ill health has wrecked my nails and I cannot often wear some of the very bright or very dark colours, but still love having them for my toes.
I have had shellac type nails a few times and I love them, but sadly they make my sad nails even worse:eek::eek:
In mitigation, I don't drink alcohol (sadly it makes me feel very poorly:(), smoke or spend very much on social life and have much more disposal income/pension now that OH and I share one car and I don't have to run/maintain one of my own:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.
