Lovely to hear from you, LL - I'm glad you're enjoying yourself.
Nope, still haven't booked hair appointment mamanwill definitely try to get something booked in over the weekend.
I have to confess: I've slipped into a bit of a depression and everything feels like a massive challenge at the moment; I really hope it blows over soon.
Meantime, I'm showered and I have put on make up and perfume for work, so that's something.
Have a lovely weekend everyone x
Sorry to hear this Ellsbel. Do you get the weekend off work? If so I hope you get the chance to really look after yourself and that you feel better soon.
Is it the job that's making you feel bad, or do you think there's more to it than that? I am prone to letting myself go when work is bad (come to that I rarely manage make up for work when it's going well!) but if you can do the opposite and really look after yourself hopefully it will help you to escape the low mood.
Things I try include Lovely aromatherapy baths, candles, relaxing music, cosy old films, gentle exercise, healthy food, especially ones like this:

LL - good to hear the holiday going well.
Maddie, hope your mum is doing ok.
I am off work today as shifted my day off to attend a team meeting on Monday when I was going to present.
Been to the park for a workout which was overdue, not done much exercise this week, only this and a 5.5k run since my hike on Sunday (Saturday was so wet I decided to go to the new Bond film and visit a National trust property instead).
Am going away for a couple of nights with a friend I met on holiday a few years ago, she owns a cottage up in Suffolk that I've not been to before. Will be nice to get away from home, for all the fact he didn't live here, I do find myself picturing the ex in the lounge. Am tempted to change it around a bit to make it feel my own again. I've got a huge coffee table in the lounge which takes up much of the floor and I suspect makes the room feel smaller than it is, and encourages me to keep too many catalogues and magazines etc. Meanwhile I've got an oak nest of tables (currently at the ex's but due to collect in a few weeks) that I could use instead for putting coffee mugs etc on without taking up all the floor. That would give me space to do a yoga DVD in front of the TV to relax in the evening. So I might well get rid of the coffee table when I get my tables back. I've also got some pictures I don't have up at the moment so might switch with the ones in the lounge, maybe move some of the free standing lamps around, get my rug cleaned and basically make it feel more like mine again.
I've arranged with the ex to collect the things I have at his flat in a couple of weeks on the way home from a hiking trip in Wales, which was due to be the next time we'd have seen each other (bear in mind the last time was three weekends ago and you can see why I was getting fed up!). I've asked that he leave a key with one of his friends if his flatmate isn't in and that he isn't there himself. I suspect I will get too upset seeing him at the moment and I don't want to see him and then get in a car crash coming home because I am too upset to concentrate on driving.
Anyway, must get ready to drive to my friend's house and meet her for the journey to Suffolk so I will stop here. Have a good weekend all. x0 -
That sounds like a brilliant idea to have a bit of a revamp of the sitting room indie. It's amazing how a bit of house fabbing can lift a mood. It doesn't have to all be focused on personal grooming. Hope you have a lovely time in Suffolk.
Sorry to hear you're feeling down ellsbel. I'm sure the job is contributing but you did sometimes feel depressed because you didn't have a job so it's a bit of a Catch22. Personally I think your decision to at least see out the training period is a good one as I think giving up might make you feel worse. And, you're up and dressed and fabbed in the morning which you might not have done before. But we're all different. Totally agree with indie and Maddie that you need to do something for yourself this weekend. Why not have a fabbing session while the menfolk are watching football tonight?;) AND REMEMBER THE HAIR APPOINTMENT!!!:D
I'm definitely doing Fab Friday. I've had a good session with showering, creaming and hair all blow dried. I used the silver/blond shampoo and conditioner today. I'm not expecting instant results but if it keeps the highlights bright for a little longer it's worth it. It's still bright and mild here although not set to last. I plan to wear my short quilted jacket with jeans and ballet flats (usual casual uniform;)) but will do make up and wear scarf to look a bit more polished.
Painting in dining room is almost done and wooden blinds are supposed to arrive today. I'm doing away with curtains to try and make the room look more spacious and less cluttered. So then all basics will be finished and I can start on the bits of sewing, buying lampshades etc. So house fabbing happening here too.
Have a good day all.0 -
Maman, you are always so insightful and encouraging
Ellsbel well done for facing the dayas the others have said when times are tough it is important to factor in things that make us feel good whether that be a walk or a bubble bath. Little things can make life more tolerable.
Indie Great idea about your living room, changing furniture can lift a room and make it feel like a new space.
I did not have a fab Fridayafter a tough week I looked less than my best today, however I am viewing the weekend as a chance to relax, regroup and get back on track.
What I need to do is plan a week of healthy, mainly vegetarian/vegan meals in the main cooked from scratch and preferably in the slow cooker (not that I am asking for much :rotfl:).I am keen to slim down and eat healthilyTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Maman - your fab Friday outfit sounds just right:) My outfit was extremely casual, but everything matched and I wore make up. (The weather was chilly, windy and rain threatened so I pulled on my lined and warm Craghopper trousers (grey), grey and black roll neck and black knee length duvet coat, a lovely grey and silver scarf knotted a la Mary Berry and grey waterproof trainers. It did rain, but I was dry and snug:D
Indiepanda - Changing your living room around sounds a good plan. I hope that you have a great weekend in Suffolk.
Ellsbel - I hope that you are done with work for the week and get some pampering and recuperative time over the weekend:)
Rummer - Sorry that you have had a trying week, I hope that you are able to provision your meals for next week, it does help us eat better if we do not have to prepare too much when we are tired and stressed doesn't it.
I am pleased that my mascara is waterproof today, one again I am a sniveling wreck as OH and I watch Children in Need, the courage of so many children and their families, as well as the unstinting help and love shown by volunteers at the charities featured is truly humbling.
Hoping that everyone can keep dry and safe from the weather in those parts badly affected.

My jacket is Craghoppers too maddie but fortunately I don't need the thermal trousers here yet!!What I need to do is plan a week of healthy, mainly vegetarian/vegan meals in the main cooked from scratch and preferably in the slow cooker (not that I am asking for much :rotfl:).I am keen to slim down and eat healthily
Thanks for your kind words rummer. Friday is always my preferred day for meal planning and shopping to match. Although I don't work full time any longer it's a habit from when the weekend was my only free time. Tomorrow I'm going to batchcook some chilli in the slow cooker. Very mse because I always add onions, peppers, carrots and mushrooms as well as a handful of lentils along with the red beans and tomatoes. Minus the mince that would be quite vegan I think. I'll portion that up for the freezer (always tastes better when marinated) and then we have lovely HM ready meals. I'm convinced that the two most important parts of weightloss are planning and vegetables!!0 -

Maman no-one else around here needs thermal trousers either, but I am anaemic and permanently cold so mine (3 pairs) get extended use. When the sun is shining I am the one wearing a long sleeved Tee and probably a light cardi as well:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
BTW, I am being treated, but for several reasons it is a slow process:(
Right now I need to try and rescue a huge pan of HM tomato soup (YS toms) that I have "over" black peppered:eek: I have been reading up on potential fixes so need to try them out before lunch time:)The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -

I'm the reverse rummer. I'm happy with my Puffa parka for everyday use. It's not 100% waterproof but it's fine for most occasions. But I do need a new long, wool coat. The two that I have are fine for a brisk walk or going to football but they're very old now and I'd like a smart new one. The trouble is my current one has been so brilliant (it has an amazing shawl collar that can work as a hood) that I can never find one I like as much.
Chilli is bubbling away in the SC. DH has finished painting the dining room. I've washed and put back all the crockery in the sideboard. Domestic bliss;).0 -
